She had a nice clear uplifting heady high to her,not over powering like some sativa's can be,nice and mellow really with no body effect to her,pretty good wake n bake material.I really enjoyed the real lemon sherbet flavor she had,this cross won't be repeated either cos i only made enough to make 15 packs and i lost the malawi gold male to pytheum or some other root complaint but i'm looking through some new malawi gold males at the mo .

Since I cannot yet afford the luxury of a low yield grow...Maybe I will germinate 3 Durban Poisons and the rest Thai-Tanic and/or Satori(unless I can't do these with DP...or each other). If I get lucky and get a female DP, I'll do whatever necessary to keep all the plants about the same height. Everything is gonna go 12/12 from the gitgo. No vegging.

Or maybe I should just be more patient and grow a personal stash of Thai-Tanic and Satori that will last me for 2 grow cycles. And then grow out Durban Poison or something like it that is doable in my space.

I need to get out of this apt for a lot of reasons....now it's because I want more grow space

The nice pheno looks very nice. Is the crap pheno the same age? if so I'd suggest putting her outside and seeing what she does as she doesn't look to be adpated at all to indoors by the reatrded state of flowering.

I'd like to try a pure landrace grow with a Mexican, African & Asian Sativa to do a grow/smoke comparison.
Do the different locales offer much differences in highs?

Just picked up what some of you would call good schwag. Compressed large nuggets with a good amount of seeds, but good trichome-coverage too. The dealer called it high mids, and it looks to be as good as some of the seedless mids I've gotten in the past. Ran me $160/ounce but this isn't your average reggos (those cost like $55/ounce).

Anyway it has the oddest aroma I've ever encountered. Like funky rotten fish. Anybody smelled something like that? The zone is in a big sealable ziplock bag and I can still smell it from my pocket. Can't wait to give it a smoke in a bit, and I'll upload pics.

i wish i could put the crap-pheno outside - but got no space this year for outdoor grows. im just going to leave her in her corner of the grow - and if its not going to be buds that are smokeable - it wont be a big deal - atleats it could work as hash-material

What size pot is the crap pheno in? She may flower properly when she gets rootbound. She may be a plant that needs a short daylength to flower, perhaps 11/13 or 10/14 would get her budding.

I had flowering problems indoors with the Pacific Mexican I grew, flowered fine for a while then just would not finish, went 24 weeks and the calyxes still wouldn't swell, she ended up producing loads of string wispy buds with tiny, shrunken clayxes, btu was still a nice smoke, can only imagine how nice she could have been if she had finished properly. At 14 weeks she looked like she was gonna be a beast but just went on and on and never finished. Thats the problem with trying to grow landraces and heirloom IBLs indoors, some of them just will not acclimate and need the full sun and a long full outdoor season to produce.

i think its even more simple than that.

because of wide inbreeding there is allways a risk of a few weird ones popping out - its just genetics messing up. as they say, SH*T HAPPENS even in the genetic pool, of the finest strains.

these different ones are fun also to grow, as long as u have time and space.

many times i used to set aside plants like this like "runts" and put them in some corner and forgetting about them.. then later in harvest it seems so many times the "runts" even though maybe less in yield, contribute with other good qualities like potency or flavours.

just because the girl is skinny doesnt mean she is bad smoke

Best way to work around this misshap is, to plant bigger amounts of seeds for selection of mothers - so that if its necesary to set aside a less productive one for boosting other bigger and more yielding ones, it will not become a problem. this way u can flower the new seeds small, and select the best moms and flower them properly later

both Oaxacan phenos of mine are planted in 5,5 liter pots i use for sativas in flower and/or indicas and hybrids in veg. both are in coco as allways, recieving exactly the same nutes and ph etc.

actually should add sometimes these skinny girls have problems with their roots, and because of this cant feed properly in flowering, if i see this early - i put them back in veg for as long as it takes to veg them to a healthy state and then flower again.

oaxacans are both from the oaxaca region in mexico and there they should have been accustomed to same light cycles.

ANYWAY im getting more and more keen on growing out more landrace sativas, and when i get my greenhouse up - ill go nuts

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!!!

All my seeds are in

Satori, Thai-Tanic, Malawi Gold, and Durban Poison.

My grow tent should arrive any day. Hopefully while my g/f is still here so she can help me put it together.

I already got my Dayton Blower modifications I needed for using with the grow tent. And I have my new 430W Hortilux Bulb. Everything else I need, I should have from my last grow.

One crappy thing is the F'ing HEAT here. No letup in site for at least a week. My apartment spare room is way too hot in temps like these to run a grow. I'd be cooling my grow with 80+F air for goodness sake. So I'm going to wait and see how the weather goes. August can be pretty hot as well. Forest fires are popping up all over here. It really sucks. Hope for cooler weather for me!!!!!!!!!

I'm now thinking I will do a grow that is 50/50 Thai-Tanic and Satori. They both have the about same finishing times(9-11 weeks) and are supposedly not real tall plants.

I'm just trying to decide how many of each seed to germ. Right now I am thinking I'll do them 12/12 from the gitgo to keep them shorter. Most all I have read from old threads(that I could find on these two) tells me these two should do OK with this method.

I'm always open for suggestions though. I'm a rank newbie at this.

Baphomet if your in northern oz you should check out pot-tv for kog's grow video. its pretty funny. what ever happened to him anyway? haven't heard anything about him since about 04

its Kog:a marijuana growers lot. he used to (or still does I dunno) sell a strain called old mother sativa. grows into great big bushes. you'll see in the video.

there are a few oz strains I'd like to try. I'll have to make it over to nimbin mardi grass one day. I'd like to try Mullumbimby madness (old mum sativa), A.B.C., and bushman.

Nimbin was where I was venturing to buy an oz of unknown for AU$300/oz - guess why I started growing...

Funny but true, I've never tried or grown an Aussie strain (never found one).
I'd love to try Mullumbimby Madness but haven't found seeds yet.
Incidentally, I'm wearing my Mardi Grass 05 T-Shirt now...

Hey motaco - here's what was hapenning in my pre-grow days...
I would need to drive down to Nimbin (a 7 hour round trip) to buy shitty seedy stemmy unknown weed for AU$280/oz from some numb nuts on the street.
BTW, not hard to buy there. I guarantee that within 30 seconds of getting out of your car you'll have been offered "smoko" about 4 times. It's always 'top shelf' (see my description above) and always the same price.
Up until recently, the local Police have pretty much turned a blind eye to Nimbin, but that's changing... from News.com.au

"IT'S the town that has continued to break the law with its laissez-faire attitude to drugs.

But after years of open drug dealing on the streets as well as a rising tide of violence, police have had enough.

Local Area Commander Bruce Lyons, the man in charge of policing the far North Coast town, is now taking a zero tolerance policy to drugs.

He is fed up with the decades-old drug culture, which has brought with it a series of social problems including high rates of mental health and homelessness.

After petitioning the Government for more resources, Superintendent Lyons will be boosting the police station's staff from four to nine officers in the coming months in a push to drive the drugs out of town.

The crackdown has earned the ire of some residents - who claim the bigger force is overkill for a town with a population of 500.

But Supt Lyons was adamant a New York-style "broken windows" approach is the only way to smash a culture he said is destroying social order in Nimbin.

"I'm passionate about fixing the problem because, unless we deal with all the social problems, the town will continue to see the consequences of drug addiction," Supt Lyons, who has been in charge of the far North Coast for three years, said.

"I have been getting a lot of criticism about this approach but there is a silent majority in Nimbin talking to me saying they want change and change is what needs to happen."

For years gangs have intimidated and assaulted those police who have been shutting down the drug dealing.

Five security cameras were installed along Nimbin's main street in 2005 at a cost of about $40,000.

But that only pushed drug pushers into the back alleys where they use friends as police lookouts while they continue to peddle drugs.

Undercover police have conducted many operations in Nimbin over the years but Supt Lyons wants to let drug dealers know police will now be on the streets.

During the Mardi Grass festival in May 109 people were arrested for drugs and bad behaviour.

Of those, 57 were cautioned while the rest faced court and criminal charges.

"In the past, undercover drug units have turned (Nimbin's drug culture) upside down and left, then its reverted back to normal," he said.

"I want local police to deal with the problem and become part of the community because if they do that they will get the respect.

"It's not about police continuing to use the law to fix the problems of Nimbin, its going to take a lot more than that (to end the drug culture).""

On my last Nimbin trip, just before my 1st grow had finished, all the sellers were extremely paranoid and a few turned me away because I looked like a narc??????
