three cheers for no leaks! thanks for that link to the hash buckets, very cool, i was sad to turn my last batch of trim to butter again, so tired of cannafood but couldn't justify bags so thanks for that. hope for a smooth run for ya too man, certainly can't see any kinks from here! i was going to throw together a vertical system with 4" columns of Ys stuck in a square or oct of coolers, but since ya've got this done up so well n easy to follow i may just abandon my idea n give this a go... gonna think hard on it hmmm well don't think i won't be back hehe take it easy man :joint:

heh there BB looking good. Seems things are coming together quite nicely for you! I got just a quick question for ya about your diameter of your set up. I read through this thread and the other one you had going, and I noticed that your diameter is 48''. That is how far each side is from the other I'm assuming. I was asking because on the actual coli I believe it"s 60'' accross. I'm in the midst of building my own as well, and seeing as you already put yours through a few runs now,do you see a better advantage having a smaller diameter rather than a large one?oh yeah how big is that pressure tank of yours there I noticed you said that you found it had better psi than a eco240.That's good cuz those pumps are ridiculous when it comes to price!

The dia. of the one i have running now is 42" outside to outside, no problem with the 48" dia, its just the 42" will fit my grow area better. The frist oct. unit was actually 6' in dia but it just seemed to bulky but again worked fine but ya would need 1000 watters, that is what I used .
The bladder tank is 20 gal. the bennifit of it is that gives a controlled PSI output, I set mine at the low end of 50 psi and the high end of 78 psi, just a reg. 1/2hp jet pump,I paid $125.00 for mine, the eco just couldnt handle the psi and seemed to lose power after a month of trying to use it, just not made for maintaining high preasure .
After all the changes I've made to this I think i have all the bugs worked out and is working out good, with the possibility of one more addition, Thinking of maybe adding a top ring to supply some O2 , I already have the O2 setup so I might as well use it.

Thanks for the quick response, so you figure that the diameter dosen't really matter, cuz what I 'm in the process of is making the all sides 2' each which would give me a diameter of just hair over 60'' from outside to outside. That I figure will give me enough room to veg to just under 2' then start flower. I still have some superbud left over from before which has an anti growth inhibitor so the plants won't have too much vertical movement after I begin flowering. I'm also using cool tubes, and fencing around the lights giving the plants just over 6'' from the light. And about your pump I've seen lots of 1/2 hp jet pumps @ home depot but not one of them has a psi rating. They range in price from 249.00- 459.00, does it matter which one is used?

I got this pump from menards on sale, you'll get your psi from what ya set your preasure switch however this pump gave me a max psi rating of 78 psi so I set my preasure switch on the high end of 78 and the low end of 50 psi. The preasure in your bladder tank should be 2lbs less than the low side preasure , to be set before water is put in bladder tank. The brand name of the pump i got is Flotec, good pump rebuild kits available. Dam even lowes is cheaper than HD then, thats outragious

oh , up loaded and running , plants look good for the most part, got a little deficiency going gotta figure out what im missing in the res and fix it. The new feed bar is working good, looks like the system has all the updates needed for now

Right on! How far along are you? Do you think an inside diameter of say 60'' or so would be too big,I've got my frame all built and once I put in my pipes (6'') it'll be 60'' accross - 6'' for the pipe?what do you think?

I used 4" pvc and it works fine, and at ownly like $5.00 for a 10' length makes for a cheap system.
My first system was a 6' dia., to me I didnt think the plants got enough light but I didnt veg but just a few days. The lighting was 2 1000hps with a vertical light mover.
the 6' may work but ya may want to veg for 14 days

With 4'', did you find that you had enough root space cuz that's my only concern with going with 6'',becuase 4'' is way more readily available, then 6'' and easier to use aswell! Btw how did you think the light mover worked in vertical as oppose to 3 stationary lights, did you notice a difference?Did you rig a light mover up yourself or is there actually vertical light movers out there? Sorry for the bombardment of questions!lol Just really curious today I guess!

contrary to belief there is all kinds of room for the roots, they will lay out in the bottom of the 4" and some will even make it to the res., some of these roots are 8' long but there is no problem with root space, I know on OG they talked bout 4" not having enough root space, well if they ran out of root space they must have vegged them for a month, I have never had any problem with that and I' ll veg for up to 12 days.
I really dont know if 3- 1000 watters would have done any better or not, The unit is wraped with panda plastic and when i opened it up to check things i just bout needed sun glasses. The light movers worked well evening out light distrubition, I used a 6' light rail with a pully and a counter weight, with the light side slightly heaver, this took the strain off the rail motor and made a easy task for it.
I built my first Vertical unit bout 4 years ago from just a idea and have been improving since, I think I now have the ideal unit. back in the OG days I was always impressed with lothar's flat areo grows but since Flowering space always seemed to be in short supply I thought vertical growsto be the best way to use and max. out space and use all 360 degrees of lighting

As effeicent as vertical is,I have to say with out seeing" Loathar's 150 site aeroponic" I never would have been as inspired to try and create some thing from scratch.... well money does a good job of that....but as far as constant inspiration,Loather grows and advice takes the cake, and I'm sure we're not the only ones who think this way.Now that I think about it,I can't remember what site I was on,but I was scrolling through when I happened upon a thread in particular, and this guy was going on about how much hard work and sweat and tears he had put in to getting his "grow all dialed in" then I scrolled down and saw the PVC pipes withe the caution police tape at the ends and I thought,is this a trend or something that's the second time I 've seen that!!!Then I seen a couple of other pics, read a few more post, once buddy got made, which was about 3.5 pages in remarkably,he jetted and never ccame back!!!LOLBut if you really think about it seeing someone try and pass off my system as there own wouldn't impress me as much as the comments that he got with my system.Goes to show that it's a small world after all!Funny that you brought that up, I was just thinking about Loathar's grow, too bad he's not around any more,he was a wealth of information, from growing to legal, amazing!!!

Yea! all is good. I lost the top 2 rows by not having extra take offs on hand, like a ganggreen limb is something happens ya gotta cut it off to save the good. The feed tubing just couldnt take 80 psi with out blowing a leak now and then, so before blowing out the other lines i decided to reduce the preassure to 50 psi, this has been working fine, just wish I'd done this before loosing the top 2 rows of plants. Guess this will just give me a chance to compare this vertical areo to my F&D tables. The areo and a 4x4 table are due to chop in 22 more days. 2 weeks ago I cut a 4'x7' F&D table, this was kinda of a experiment i was doing. Well it produced 76.25 ozs of rock hard bud with basically the same # of plants as the areo full, everyone raved over it.
Pics are hard to get in the areo unit, just can see the top buds if a top pic is taken, the rest just looks like a green jungle inside but I will get pics when i chop it down for ya
