I'll never forget my doctor/guru friend's words to me from day one ,,,,,,,, in this game we don't use the color GREY,,,,,, in this game the only colours available is BLACK and WHITE ,,,,, there is no ' just the one ' policy here, u choose white and u stand a chance, if u choose black , u will only fool yourself, and let family and friends down . Every morning I'll think of these wise words, and guess they have helped me staying on track ,,,

Out standing words of wisdom for all to hear. Gray area is a nice way to state what I refer to as Bull-shitting. I see so many drunks unsuccessfully fighting there way threw life, swinging with there left and protecting the bottle with there right.
If you have some sobriety under your belt those words have a straight forward meaning.

Great share:tiphat:

I was curious those of you that quit drinking what were the withdrawals like?

I just felt better. But I had to let some friends go.

Merry Christmas all! Hope everyone is coping well this holiday season. Hopefully your bowls are full of good bud.
On Xmas eve it will be 2 years without a drink for me. Woohoo! Best present I ever got myself, and every year it keeps on giving

I dont drink very often but i just felt like sharing that i feel a smoking break sounds good to me atm.

I was reading on plant medicine, and this one place had a lot of nice plants, and they even had one section for cannabis, and they said you shouldnt be smoking more then 7 days in a row unless you had cancer or some other condition.

I just thoughit it was a good idea.
They also talked about the withdrawals on that site, and seems like they know their thing.

For me taking a break, the 4-5 first days i dont get much sleep, fall asleep in the morning..
Lots of energy but boredom, its like you head is on and cant take a break

Alcohol and ganja 2 different things but both can make you work your self control
Talking about self control, on that site i was talking about they said weed can affect your selfcontrol and affect your analytical faculties.

A break is never a piece of pie
Hate to say it

Sometimes, there is a need for me to take a break
I become irritable, angry, and it makes me think there is some kind of unbalance in my body
Sometimes i am stressed because of the need to hide it, it sort of causes a schism (separation) to my personality and it all goes together to make me say.. Yeah i need a break

Good luck to everyone who decides to take a break from alcohol, i think its a harder substance to drop then cannabis.

I was curious those of you that quit drinking what were the withdrawals like?

it was horrible for me...DT'S slammed me, puking, pissing n shitting myself curled up in fetal position for couple days. hallucinations were some seriously scary shit for me. dr. told me to never try to quit again without help (medication), said it could prove fatal.
this is what i think of when i want a drink, keeps it green for me. i was a 1/2 gallon vodka n 12 pack a day kinda drunk. 6 1/2 years sober now!

-Thank you for the question and answer to such a serious matter. I went thru rehab many times before getting off cocaine. I saw how those addicted to alcohol are put in a separate area to keep an eye on them as they can die. The moans and sounds from that area were horrible. From what I understand and saw, alcohol, is the worst by far of any drug to quit. I quit heroin in a hotel and had sweats and freezing for days but knew I wouldn't die, I just felt like it. Alcohol on the other hand can and does kill people in early recovery. It depends on how much you drink, but quitting alcohol is very serious and if you drink alot I do recommend a rehab for support and the beginning stages which can be fatal. AA can be a help (if) you really do the steps and only hang with those that are serious and stable as many I found in the rooms are unstable even those running the show more than once I found were still using and too arrogant/proud to say they slipped and/or predators too. Mainly, don't give up. Took me many rehabs for harder drugs yet still drank which is really the hardest of all, yet legal:dunno:. My step dad now gone went thru over 10 rehabs, but it finally took and he helped many after that. Point is, if your still kickin', don't ever give up and stay positive as best you can. Watch out what your thinkin' literally. Get rid of that stinkin' thinkin' that got you f'd up in the 1rst place. There is a very real battle for your mind everywhere you go and you alone ultimately choose what thoughts and images you will allow. Your choice and is a daily choice, even minute to minute. Free the mind/heart and you will free the body and spirit, I believe. It is said that where the heart/mind is there is your treasure also. I want real treasure that lasts 4 ever. I do believe that we can build up treasure that no one can destroy or steal. I want to thank my higher power and for loving me so much that gave his only son for my f'ups. Very thankful for the peace that brings. Knowing your forgiven is huge. Thank you Jesus. If you don't believe please don't offended as there is so much devil crap on here that I feel my point is necessary and an option for those that don't subscribe to evil. Evil begats more evil and good more good. You choose and if you don't, that also is a choice. Peace and a very happy Holidays. :tiphat:SR

If you feel alcohol is problem for you and you are merely substituting one thing for another, there will still be an underlying problem.

x2. get rid of the problem, then the alcohol/drug ABUSE (not USE) is much easier to deal with. for a full-fledged alcoholic, there is no going back. dipping your toe in to check the water is verboten. I'm 57, & have never seen it done successfully. that said, I have never seen nor heard of a "cannabis addict". JMHO
