Quit Alcohol - Support Thread

HEHE. The hardest part i'm guessing for you is gonna be the first time or 2 that you sit there drinking something non alcoholic while your mates are having 'fun'. Stay strong and watch at the end of the night how your mates are acting. It'll start to turn you off it.
Also it's such a STRONG thing to do, and each time you do it you will feel stronger still. You'll find that once you have a hold over this addiction your life will start to play out a little better and remember NO-ONE likes a drunk. Everybody likes a nice guy. It is an addiction, but probably the easier and quicker of them to get through.

Yeah this is true. For me the hardest thing is feeling comfortable going out with people that are drinking. Most of my friends drink when they go out and don't realize how alcohol effects them negatively so its hard for them to empathize with how I'm feeling, or why I'm not drinking. I've had so many great times with my buds and its hard to be the one that isn't having a good time. Its hard to see past the way you are feeling in the moment. I am going to try harder to make a positive change in my behavior, I want to be able to go out, laugh, get crazy and be sober the whole time.

I wanted to mention a great alcohol free beverage for the holidays I love. Basic Hawaiian punch, 7up and cut up fruit in a punch bowl and guests can always add a shot of rum per glass if they drink, but better tasting without it and no alcohol related problems. Stickin' with the virgin punch myself and lots of great smoke is good enough for me. Maybe break out some hash. Happy Thanksgiving all and please be safe and don't drink and drive or let others and maybe make arrangements ahead for peeps to sleep over if they are drinking. Peace... :tiphat: SR

Can't wait to be off of probation. Slipped up this past weekend, after a particularly shitty day at work I gave in and drank. But on the bright side my probation officer told me that on December 10th I should be getting off probation. I thought I was going to be released in January. Finally can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Finally will be able to get the medicmedication I need and have been lacing for over 5 years now...

....i have been booze free for a year now....one year ago, I was dying from alcohol....eyes took a yellow tint...my skin was jaundice... was pissing a dark, tea colored urine.....I was brawling nearly every weekend....

S.M.A.R.T. recovery helped me immensely...it is a science/psychology based addiction recovery ...based on Rational-Emotive therapy.....I suggest that anybody, with any addiction problem, check it out....it is a modern alternative to the religion based Alcoholics Anonymous....
*doesnt require you to admit that you are powerless..
*emphasizes personal choice and responsibility
*no religious emphasis

Being an example this Holiday season

Being an example this Holiday season

Your friends and family might think you a stoner, but will notice when you don't drink and you only smoke the good, which they will say is too potent cause there drinking with it and/or rarely smoke. If you mix anything with alcohol it increases the high manifold and not a good safe high at all. All will notice, though they might not say anything, when your up cooking breakfast and not hungover or in jail etc etc. Bottom line, many peeps will die this Holiday from alcohol, but none from weed. Smoke up and be an example this holiday season of what to do, not what not to do. Peace... :tiphat:SR

aa is terribad and proven to have very low success rates..

the whole concept is flawed. The first time I heard them say relapse is a part of recovery I got into a heated debate with the person leading the group and pretty much everyone that were there jumped behind me and agreed. You shouldn't shame people or anything but you fucked up now learn and move on. not give people and excuse for moments of weakness.

I mean what if someone is sitting there trying to fight off the urge and they think "well relapse IS a part of recovery, right?"

14 months clean of chew. after 22 years. still have cravings ( not as often). but will never return! (well plan to start chewing again when I am about 80 and say, catch me now cancer!) had to learn to hate that Fucking nicotine drug! I just want to thank the cannabis plant for getting me to juice daily, how else are those worms going to be fed? damn it I feel good!

Many many years ago I used to chew something called Good money I think and looked like a big turd in a bag. Nasty habit like cigs and still very bad for you. Have a great safe Thanksgiving peeps. Peace... SR

It's been a year since my last drink...

It feels good. I like being sober. I like watching others drink.

I have not had even an urge to drink since I stopped.

It's been a Great Year without booze..

It's been a Great Year without booze..

Hi Friends,

It's been a great year :plant grow:

I stopped drinking cold turkey over a year ago and it was easy.

No withdrawal, no shaking, nothing, so I guess I'm not an Alcoholic :ying:

The green just keeps on growing. I have 6 Jack Herer's a few weeks into flower and they are looking right.

I popped 5 Barney's Critical Kush seeds, they all had tails this morning and I put them in cups.

Friends I know it's tough no drinking during the holidays.

Best of Luck

Good to hear 420. I'm in my 17 th month now as a recovering alcoholic without AA or any of that shit. My hobby is my antabus,,, lol After 40 yrs. plus with King Alco, it's nice to be able to see trough the fog , and live a productive life again, instead of putting things off until next week, if you get my drift. And , I have started to recognise my signature again ,,,,,,, lol 1o mnths. ago , it was just a big SHAKE on the dotted line,,, keep on staying good
