Yea I wouldn't give up on the girls in flower either....still will be potent....
I hate fungus gnats....they spread stuff (like various pythium and fungi)....in my garden...the perlite has algal blooms all the time...basically attracting pests and giving 'em somethin' to nibble on....

How do you think you got root rot? pests? can't be overwatering can it? Or is it from the standing water when you couldn't tend to things? (sorry if I missed it bro...)

dont know rerally - i think it propably has to do with the fact the roots might have had time to dry up - and thus die - and then after transplant they have started to rot..

therefore id say the problem was me not beeing able to water them as often as i should well - next time i'll make sure not to get surgery meanwhile i got a grow in action lol..

its still ok - got enough plants but these things surprise me...

Damn man you should be proud of the work you´ve been able to do while getting chopped up at the same time. Not many would have managed the same, losing some to rootrot is nothing compared to the variety your gaining. Many growers fuck up much more with only one plant and no surgery lol!

a nice chilled day today.. spring is coming and the temps are going up summer feeling in the air cant say i noticed this winter much hehe

finally didnt go to the greenhouse.. lets see tomorow.. mañana, mañana!

think i killed most adult gnats.. gonna continue with the extermination.. saw some whiteish gnats crawl out of the coco.. gotto get rid of them larvae ASAP hehehe

got today an other stronger indoor use insecticide.. gonna spray tonight with that too

this evening im catching up w. my gf on all the Lost episodes we missed during the surgery etc

decided to bring down the frequency of watering for the seedlings

the big bushes are going to start recieving 35/35 soon... specially the astrofogs are getting huge.. the SSH x PTK is a bit more slow but very promising also these will be the back bone of the grow.. + the clones of them

i will continue with same deal as now - rhizotonic, atazyme and supervit.. besides the a/b..

most of racos stuff are on the first pic. a trained eye can maybe spot the dc and crosses and the other tomhill genetics.. - click and pull this space to for answer [** in the middle in and in the back the back!! **]hehehe

I think the adults may not do harm, other than to reproduce
the... larvae... ?

that is the harm they do....

i hope that larvae stage is not too long - so as long as i keep the adults from reproducing and multiplying i hope to get it under controll

got to break the reproductive chain

growth rate is getting better (stretch started just really) - i hope to get the gnats down before they do lay too much eggs of those yukky larvaes .. uuuh yuk!

hopefully tomorow we will go to get the mister and i can aply the bacteria against the larvae too..

and with the enzymes for the roots and other boosters for the roots i hope its gonna be ok

also the fact im going to bring down the watering frequencies to make the roots grow more should help too - i hope hehe

lets see lots of "i hope" 's but im optimistic - its going quite ok still

hows the female count coming along mate, delighted to read you have a PTK couple hehe
i v read an effective way to get rid of the larvae from a soil grow is to flush it with H2o2 (hydrogen peroxide ) , this kills all the larvae and also cleans up the root ball , supplies a boost of o2 to the roots and helps against root - rot by killing pathogens. the only "bad" effect is it also kills most all microbes and freindly bacteria , but this can easily be added back 2-3 days after the final H2o2 flush (General Hydroponics BioMajix Pack, or similar will supply nice bacteria and microbes). 2 flushes , with 2-3 days inbetween are reccommended . 2 tbs per gallon 3% H202 are the amounts i v read have success.
my first couple of hydro grows using mini rw cubes , i used to find lots of what i now know were dead adult gnats in the grow . thought at the time it was just flies sucked in the air intake didn t seem to affect yeild to much though .
maybe you could try adding H2o2 to the nutrients for a couple of weeks instead of having to individually flush each pot . when using chemical nutrients like canna , i always add H2o2 at least once a week to the feed solution to maintain a nice clean rootzone.

i just went and switched on the veg cabinet - wich now is for flowering males lets see if i get any good canditates

this far i have put in there a few males of x18 x dc and bogglegum.. atleast i think they are males - they dont show too much yet.. just a hint really...

lets see if i make some seeds - only if there is any interesting looking ones in there.

i will see if i separate any other male later. cant fit too many in there though hehe - rather almost none more.. if i get a more interesting male i will swap later.

almost all other crosses of dc are not yet sexed - same goes with the SG's. and PTK's (the SM and the PTK are old seeds - from Tom Hill originally - thanks Raco!) lets see if there is any "life" left in them - and they start getting going soon - no signs of flowering yet

this far the LP's seems females - most of them.

did a massive re-ordering of the growroom - got finally the SSH x PTK bush closer to the light - and lifted the clones of SSH x PTK and the lone sad looking DC a bit higher up. dont know about this dc - it was the only one that germed - and it looks far from a good example of the plant.. hehe

got 3 female mozambiqueans im keeping this far.

but im having un-expectedly many females at last.. i might run out of space hehe lets see if i have to do a harder selection later in flowering lets see how it goes.. only first week in 12/12 anyway

more males have been cut down todays check shows:
2 JohnnyD's females -
4 mozambiqueans are also confirmed females.
10+ cascadia females that have been kept this far.
most x18 x DC or all seem male so hehe the bone nr 19 is gonna work some i hope


lsdc is not sexed yet. also there is 2 PTK, 1 SM, 1 DC that havent shown sex yet - also a few SG and LP need some time more to get going.

still i got to say the grow-room is packed full and in a few weeks its going to be tighter in there too.. so some females also might have to go in the end. if i get around 20-30 females its enough or too much hehehe to choose from. there is still a lot of males left to cut i bet.

i got a big SG male i cant fit in my flowering room.. and neither can i separate it from the pot its in if the two left are females. lets see - ill give it a week more - dont think too much is going to happen. and maybe clone it. dont know - i do like the look of it.

i did not keep any cascadia males - but if i get 2 nice males for example the 2 x18 x dc and the 2 bogglegum i got for males, it should be more than enough. lets see what comes out of the rest.

also interesting to keep are the PTK and SM if its males. lets see what all i can fit in the diminute space i got. i will most likelly have to cut down to a realistic amount - lets see how far the space goes!

also i can clone males for later fun - thats also an option. could be interesting!

the x18 x dc - bone nr 19 im really fond of the idea to keep for the future. as long as a i find a nice select one!

the future astrofog moms ... aimed to go outside to veg and flower - i will cut clones of them in the summer when the veg is in boost mode .... the heat will also make clones either root imediatly or rot - so it will be interesting ..

got an other male of the x18 x dc - also called Bone nr19 also got a Mental Floss male - the only one to germ from that bunch its quite nice looking and i might keep it for fun too i definetly now gone way past the capacity of the space.. got to maybe make a selection there too id like to keep one male of the x18/dc, one boggle gum and one mental floss male. those should fit in there.

now i hope there is no more interesting looking males left - since then its going to get more complicated...

got one nice looking female of the LDS too - and a few other smaler ones - that are less developed

this far it doesnt seem i have gotten any females of the x18 x dc.. if i get one - im prepared to make f2's - on racos request and for my own fun

now i regret not to have cloned the JD male... WELL there is 1 more JD and LDS unsexed so if i get males there... i will consider expanding my flowerspace for the males.. there is MAX space for 4 12 liter pots - and for the moment i got the bogglegum in there (in a 25 liter pot) and one pair of X18 x DC that both are males i think. one of them is slower to show signs than the other - but the other is one clear male. id say the 2 males are very similar in looks - and the 2 others are that are slower are very similar too. if i get 2 pairs of male/female - im going to keep both for selection.

what i dont know is what to do with the bogglegum vs mental floss dilema.. wich is more interesting to keep..

mental floss:

Mental Floss = (Cotton Candy x DJ Short True Blueberry)

Cotton Candy = (Afghani X Blueberry)


BOGglegum is ( bubblegum x nl5 ) x bubblegum = bogbubble x bubblegum

wich one seems more intersting...

actually when i think about it - maybe if there is one pot with male/female of the x18 x dc i will keep that one in the separated space (no wind etc - so should be cool to have them together.) and cut the other male and flower the female under the HPS. should just select the best looking male to keep`of the two.

well i got to say i find both bogglegum and mental floss interesting - maybe the mental floss is a tad bit more interesting because of the blueberry mix but both should have great flavour and be good chill out smoke.

if i take the bogglegum out i will have space for 4 x 12liter pots - the 25 liter one takes up a lot of space. so taking out one i can get in 2 more.. so it means i could keep an other male - for example JD or LDS.

so basicly the 2 ideas are like this:

(1) - 4 x 12 liter pots (MF male, X18 x DC male, and any 2 of the following: LDS, JD, X18 x DC, SM, PTK or even cascadia - i have one i have kept thats not sexed yet)

(2) - Bogglegum + 2 x 12 liter pots (means 2 of the following LDS, JD, SM, PTK or even cascadia)

im going to discuss the male issue with my "compadre" to see his ideas.

any other inputs are - as allways wellcome. !! so bring them on!

one option is to keep the bogglegum male in clone form for later.. but it doesnt seem too stressfull to keep since - its EASY to get more seeds of it.

its rather more interesting with males of JD, LDS, PTK or Special Mix on the side of one X18 x DC male and one Mental Floss male..

lets hope for one female of the X18 x DC.. for the sake of F2's!

anyway,
the super G and the LP are less vigorous - but never the less interesting. also interesting to keep is the AL, JD, LDS


with the clones im doing on the side and the flowering males - i dont really think i got any other option than to reveg - since i wont have space for more clones untill about 3-4 weeks time... sad but true.. since taking clones of all the females now means LOTS of clones again.. and just no space to talk about.. i guess of the 56 m2 our flat is - about a 1/4 is taken by the plants and utensils.. hehe

for example i got to keep taking out the moms from the flowering room and put them in the living room untill the days are long enough to keep them in the living room all day.. or untill the cloness that i have now are big enough to get transplanted to 1 liter pots and if there is space left to put the moms in there too..

im thinking of transplanting the bogglegum male to a smaler pot.. but im not sure yet! it would take some luck not to disturb the flowering too much..

but that way i could keep males for seeds of:
1 X18 x DC
1 Bogglegum
1 MentalFLoss
and any that will come up now later.. for example the DC (even though i should just clone it for later - and then later plant the rest of the seeds too - got very few left.) the original SM if its a male, or the if the original PTK's are males - (not any signs yet! just one tall and one short plant.) or the unsexed JD and LSDC - both very dwarfed phenos.. and funny looking ones

im sure i will reveg the best cascadia(s) and mozambiqueans (got still lots of seeds of them and many other landraces i got to grow out some day)

and

i think i have more or less decided for taking clones of the JD and LDS, that are the most vigorous, and the same with any other female i got of the ones that are few of..

i can make a handfull more clones this weekend - maybe there is space for that.. that way i can keep the ones that might be interesting - in a safe manner since clones are easy to make sure they root specially now when i got perfect ambient temps.. i can take about 20 clones max! if i fill up the 2 containers i can fit - i can take 40 clones - but instead of ones of each i prefeer a few of the most interesting ones - and maybe take a coulpe each of them?

saturday i will have to get fresh coco for the transplant of the clones and rockwool plugs for new ones..

i really really hope the flowering wont get smelly untill in ONE months time.. since i wont be able to buy the carbon filter untill that hehehe its that harsh to not get sick pay from your sneaky, thickheaded, tight and useless boss F**K it.
