Stick w the BX,it's never done me wrong....
Fuck FoxFarm.
Too 'hot' imo.
GH flushes better than any 'ganic, burns cleaner, too.
Ask Smokey,Jimmy,or Phil how clean my herb burns....
All grey ash,all the time.
GH Flora,dialled-DOWN,is kickass stuff....
Just add a shot of flower booster halfway through, like KoolBloom!
and flush for the last 2.5 weeks.

My .02,Jack.

I finally found a place locally that sells it . It's alot lighter than foxfarm, FF ocean forest is like picking up concrete for that reason alone I love it(The pro mix) I may mix in some FF OF 20% just to use up the last of it.This stuff looks promising.Peace Bm357 :joint:

It looks like Liquid Karma was mentioned but kind of passed over. I had almost the same problem as you did (also with pro-mix and PBP + cal-mag). It only affected my Pure NL plant in the room. Liquid Karma made a big improvement in just two weeks. I had the same spots and the plant started drying out. I cut the cal mag in half and up'd the LK to 15 ml/ gal and the problem disappeared. Have you tested the water plain yet?

Nope I haven't tested the water besides ph. I'm using GH Flora, Kool Bloom kiquid, and Nectar now with no problems except having to stake most of them up.:D

I had a bit of this "rust" on some of the leaves of the sb bx2 I grew, but, not on the other plants (mr. bubble, bogglegum, killer apollo, of course sb bx2) The plants did not have many of these spots though, so, I just disregarded it. The promix was bx by the way and I used gh nutes with an additives.

Next grow, multi flow, 2 plus AN! Fuck it going all the way!

Good luck and take care,
M

Congrats Gamera on the new appointment !

Congrats Gamera on the new appointment !

Good stuff Bm357 i've been using it for many years. Your idea of adding 20% FF OF to the BX is a great 1 & when i have any Ocean Forest on hand i do just that. Those 2 together is a complete mix & a damn fine 1 ! Just be sure to let it sit a week or so w/ a good plain watering/w runoff as it always seems to make everything mesh better when the roots hit it. The 1st run off of the BX is very dusty & when i take a reading on my tds meter it's like 1400ppm & that's just plain BX :yoinks: . Once you run water through it well it drops to a couple hundred on the meter :woohoo: ....which is just where the OF comes in handy. Just do like you said as 20% is plenty w/ of course 20% addition of perlite...or so... All this has worked very well for me & i think many overlook the basic/initial flushing of the BX since it has caused many a plant to show signs of stress early on in xp & now i have NO issues...smooth sailn' . Take care & whatever works for ya stick w/ it. Best of luck w/the new medium. Takr easy yf 3ld

edit: when i have no OF i just worm castings & a bit of a full balanced nutrient when i do my initial flush with water. I may make no sence to some, sorry but this has worked well for me. Peace all & have a fantastico :D week !yf 3ld :joint:

ok GH users i need your attention for a second...

what to buy? do i even waste my time buying grow formula or just micro and bloom? another question is, in promix/perlite (i am very heavy on the perlite btw)
how long does a bottle of bloom last? what's your dosing gamera? how much per gallon of nutrient just to give me an idera, i have never used anything from General Hydro yet.

thanks again for the great thread guys, i will definitely be back if promix givwes me any more bullshit... for what it's worth, i am using the plain ole pro mix potting soil, no suffix after the name, it is made for container gardening. no nutes. white package. can't wait to try the bx it does indeed look promising bigmone, great tips 3LD and everyone. peace

Has anyone tried Sunshine Pro Mix? I picked up a bag today when I made the drive into town. Costed me a half sack, but I really like the stuff so far. Amended it slightly with some kelp meal, guano, and some humic/volcanic acid/minerals...I stress slightly. Just curious if anyone else has tried it. I am in Colo so not sure how far their marketing goes. Looking forward to the results...and it is better than having to make the soil with WalMart crap and an assload of perlite.

sunshine (sungrow hort.) is premier's top competitor, it's not promix but virtually the same thing.

here is a link to some wholesale sunshine mixes, you gotta buy a pallete at a time tho  i would buy it if i had no where else to get soiless mix, its just peat perlite vermiculite and a pH buffer, there are lots of variations of sunshine mix though, what does the bag say? some have nutes mixed in
theyre ORGANIC premixes look out of this world, cant wait to get a few bags from them.. GREAT COMKPANY IM LINKING YOU TO BTW call em on the phone if you need more stuff, great deals on bulk containers too, real helpful.
click the link, select the link on the left of the page that reads "Growing Mediums" and scroll down, they have every product sunshine makes.

Thank you Cap'n. This stuff has added organic nutes to it, the nursery in town uses it and out here in BFE everything needs to be organic to charge an arm and a leg. I paid the equivalent of 20 bucks for a 2. sumthin cf. bag, but after dumping it in the soil tub looks well worth it. How is this stuff for germinating? I have beans that need to go under the cfl's to germinate but couldnt afford and Rapid Rooters. And the RR from this last germination that didnt sprout have developed a kind of algae. Should I dump those RR?

if it has nutes the seedlings may not respond well to it.

i have never used a rapid rooter but if i'm not mistaken it's compressed peat and coco with added beneficial organisms, the "algae" you see is good most likely but as a general rule of thumb, you don't want to take the chance as these things growing on the surface of the medium is no good when attempting to germinate, the seedlings may recieve too much moisture and damp off what i would do is buy a new pack of refills i saw them for 10 bucks somewhere and was going to buy them to fill flats with for tomatoes last year. You don't need to buy the greenhouse thing, check a hydro store for the refills, although i believe you can also sterilize them (i'd use steam if i had no other options, str8 perlite is better than risking damp off)
**again, i haven't used them so it may be just fine, i would start a thread on it or do a search before taking my advice. I direct sow for promix :D no nutes

i waited to see if anyone responded and they didnt so just giving you some general info bro, wish i could be of more help. :spank:

should i toss em?
i would.

ps if you want the info about sowing into the dirt you bought you have to visit that site they list every sunshine product and tell you if it's suitable for seeds. thanks

Captain Jack-look back over this thread and Rez gave suggested doses for Flora. There are charts you can download and print on the GH site as well. There's 2 charts and it's the "Phase Feeding program." There shouldn't be a set rate (imfuo) but you'll get a feel of it quick. I have good luck underfeeding and keeping a close eye on ph. Get all 3 parts and the liquid Kool Bloom. I use silica and folic acid as well and flush between feedings. Then I use a clearex and flush for the last 2 weeks.

Hey Gamera have you noticed a difference using the Clearex product ? I have an entire bottle that's been sittn' for a year or more & since i went with the GH (chems') on/for the SD mabey now would be a good time to use the stuff ? Whatcha think ? I ususlly grow Organic & bought the Botanicare Clearex when i bought the entire line, but have yet to feel i need it.

Also i have both the 3 part GH line (floragr, floramicr, florabloom), but recently also bought the GH Flora Nova 1 part formulas...have you used these products ? It is a 1 part formula but has a grow & bloom enhancer(called Floralicious) that goes with it so i suppose you could say it's 2 part. If i had to guess this is the GH answer to 1/2 organic or something as the Floralicious products are kelp & humic acids. I would like to try these with my next ECSD crop but the cheaper colored stuff(3part) has worked well on the SD so id like to get some feedback before i switch up. Thanks Gamera & sorry for rambling on in yer thread buddy hope ya don't mind. Takr easy yf 3ld

btw thats cool they have a 'liquid' Kool Bloom....the stuff i bought is pink powder in a tub...seems to mix well though. Thanks again Gam.

hey bro

hey bro

hey 3leg ,, i use clearx .. i also use pro mix ,, i found that the dry pro mix can lead to some pretty weird ph levels ,,, and problems ,, it holds true that when you use promix ,, if it has been sitting and dried up ,, it need to be soaked for a bit before use,, i been having a lil problem with the promix , and it worked out when i used the clearx .. when the pro mix is dry it tends to hold salts ,, and feeding in pro mix before a good soaking is dangerous ,, i been told to keep it wet about a week before use ,, then feeding is fine ,, not sure about this but my friend told me to get it wet before use ,, i was having problems with a few plants that drink alot ,, so it kinda go hand an hand ,, dry soil ,, high salt ,, but i use the clearx and all is well now ,, i have been using clearx for some time now ,, i grow in small containers with heavy food ,, so i water, feed ,, water , water , water , clearx , feed ,,
