Yeah,I use a self-modified (sort of) 'Lucas Formula',but I didn't really initially get it from Lucas,I figured out most of it myself, over the years, and Lucas clarified for others, via that excellent thread, most of what I already knew, from Practically Applied Research of my own, though I have got some nice insights from that thread, over time.
<<All in tsp>>
I use all three parts in veg,2green/1micro/.5pink/gal at 6.0pH.
In flower,I use 3pink/.5micro/gal. at 6.0pH.
Sometimes I use a bloom booster,but rarely,at 55% into flowering.
Then,I flush for about 2 weeks,sometimes more,until cut.
This is a great thread and I don't care if it strays. I learn SO much from you guys. I've grown for 5 years now, pretty much in a vacuum. Rez, back when you recommended the ProMix you also rec'd the GH 3 part. I bought some then but I'd been organic forever and wanted to try it with the Promix. The g-store rec'd the PBP so I tried it. It's time to buy nutes again and I'm just going to go ahead with the GH. I would rather iron this out, but simplicity is gaining importance rapidly. I guess I can throw in some Maxicrop or Age Old once in awhile if I just have to.
I believe BC hit the nail on the head on pg.1. That cal/mag stuff has caused me nut. lockout problems in the past & i can say without a doubt that Botanicare PBP & Pro-Mix BX works Great together. The only problem i have found is that since the Botanicare line is not like the 3 part GH line Rez uses (all inclusive)macros...micros..trace elements...right ammts' of cal/mag ...etc. The PBP is only a basic 'part 1' so to speak & needs a few other things (not cal/mag) to make it a all inclusive fert. Did you get any Botanicare Liq. Karma ? I sometimes use per gallon: PBP soil formula/(1/4tea) of EJ microblast/1tea LK & my plants are always lush. I let it sit 1 day & then adjust the ph w/ the EJ natural stuff & feed away.
I believe nut. lockout is probably the #1 problem that many have a really hard time figuring/straitn' out(me included). A good flush followed by a nice full spectrum balanced fert line corrects many problems. I think the GH 3 part might be the best bet since you already have them & dialing in a few bottled organic ferts or a guano tea can prove finicky with some plants. THe GH sounds like a sure shot.
Lastly at first glance i though you mabey had 'scale' of some type or a virus on those leaves then the one pic i thought some type of pest mabey . Whatever the problem turns out to be i am rooting for a quick correction with no further signs. Best of luck 3ld
edit: what is the hp on the pro-mix bale stand for ? & do you add any wc or any other goodies like the Ocean forest has ?
$2 a bottle chemical fertilizer from Schultz. One does not have to spend $100's of dollars per harvest on fertilizer and other designer additives for excellent bud. Jusn an FYI for anyone who cares.
3leg-Good thoughts. I was using 5ml of Calmag and 1/4 tsp-1 tbls of PBP (veg or 12/12) depending on the stages and size and I thought surely I wasn't overfeeding. I think I've been underfeeding for a long time and I think that's a good practice. My guy at the grow store told me that pbp and calmag were a complete feed. He's usually right-on. I'm going to experiment with this on a small scale. I'm going to see what Maxicrop (both kinds) will do in Promix. I'm guessing I'll need to supplement with some micronutes. Thanks for dropping by!
Caprichoso-I started growing with Schultz and it worked really well. I even have a brick or 2 around. When I get a really baffling nute problem I sometimes flush and then feed with 1/4 strength 20-20-20. I worked my way into organics for the challenge and flavor, and I read hype that makes me try stuff. Working with multiple and new strains is a big challenge and I've got tons of strains in line and on the way. Maybe there's a 12 step program for seed junkies?
Thanks for dropping by and sticking around icmag!
It's good that we all use different techniques... if we all did the same it would get boring, no? Personal styles and prefs.
I am now a micro grower, unfortunately had to turn in the 1000Hortilux a few crops ago. That's fine, I enjoy it just as much. I guess what I'm saying is I can make nutes last for a long time, since I'm only growing a few plants tops. This is my hobby, so I dont mind spending a few dollars to try something out. It's all in good fun, and the results - well, I mean I'm doin pretty well. I do get jealous cause I can't grow a long dong anymore, but these nodules will F you up the same.
I do need more thn 2.1 megapixel tho - my cam is madd olde
Cheers to everyone - mS
My cam is on it's last legs I tell ya, the display screen will only show black and white, and it's kinda like White Noise almost. It's all screwed up. Better than none tho, you are right!
My ploy is to get my wife a new one for her birthday in Oct.
You know back in the day before the internet and grow stores, I used to go to the woods for my dirt, to the chicken coupe and cow paster for my fertz, with alittle wood ash from the fire place to round things out. Then for a booster a little pee and water...I had many plants that would go well over an lb. at harvest ( outdoors of coarse ). lol Yep, in those days shultz and M.G. WAS high tech. take care...BC
The PBP & the cal/mag suppliment are not a complete feed in any way (atleast not for the MJ plants needs). Thats why the new line of Botanicare has a 3 part solution(Triflex) & it is all inclusive with a 3rd part called "Base'(2-0-3)it includes 4.5 % cal.& all the essiential elements including boron, mag, cobalt, zinc,it also contains vitamins, amino acids, seaweed, humic acid, fulvic acid,& carbohyd. They seemingly had to come out with something more full spectrum so to speak. I have the new catalog, quite nice all the new stuff coming out. I suppose more $$ to spend on new goodies. Take care Gamera & best of luck 3ld
& btw i dont mind buying the more expensive nutrients & giving them a try because i only get the pint (or so) bottles until i see if it uptakes well with the herb plant....so many i find don't do so well & off to be used in mum's vegi garden. Always somewhere to use them organic ferts
Have a great weekend Gamera & btw i saw your strain list & for only 5 yrs wtf man thats alot of genitics you've worked with...'a very busy bee must be the'...keep up the hard work Peace 3ld
Is it feasable one could make it from seed to harvest in promix, using pbp grow/bloom formulas, Guano tea, and LQ, and maxicrop? (not in that order lol)
in toher words, will the fossilized high-p guano boost the low p flower formula? or just add to the lockout i see in hindsight? lol
Absolutly CJ i've done it but the problem you may run into is the lack of micronutrients...especially cal/mag. PBP is not all inclusive but w/ that maxicrop you might just do fine. I would personally try & atleast add a little wc & some greensand(for K) to the pro-mix & of course a bit of dolimitic lime. All these are easy to find & cheap right at the depot.
As far as mixing guano teas & PBP nutrients(flowering) there is no problem w/ that either just test the ppm as to not overfeed yer plants & remember guano tea prperly bubbled/aged is rather strong stuff on it's own. Best of luck CJ & have a great weed-kend pez out 3ld
