Pro Mix hp help please?

Damn good thread!! Missed it as usual.
Got a question.
Anyone know the difference in the HP and the BX formula??
My local Hydro shop sells the 3 cu. ft. bale of BX for around
$19. They run the HP 2 cu. ft. bale on sale at the local Home Depot all
the time for $8. I could save a few bucks on the HP but if the BX formula
is superior I don't mind spending extra. I know I've had nice results with the
BX but if I could get the same result and save a few $'s with the HP then I'd
rather be thrifty.
Also, was wondering what all you good people thought of the BioBizz nutes?
I'm thinking about switching from FoxFarm. I think I read somewhere that GH
partnered with BioBizz and that's the reason it's available in the U.S. now.
The guy at the Hydro spot told me he gave up FoxFarm and went back to GH,
reccomended I give it a try, but I'd rather stay strictly organic if I can help it.

Any comments are appreciated. Rez, anybody??? Peace.

Stick w the BX,it's never done me wrong....
Fuck FoxFarm.
Too 'hot' imo.
GH flushes better than any 'ganic, burns cleaner, too.
Ask Smokey,Jimmy,or Phil how clean my herb burns....
All grey ash,all the time.
GH Flora,dialled-DOWN,is kickass stuff....
Just add a shot of flower booster halfway through, like KoolBloom!
and flush for the last 2.5 weeks.

My .02,Jack.

Well we all have our opinions don't we ?

Well we all have our opinions don't we ?

There is nothing wrong with the hp= high poresity (sp) pro-mix... lots of air in the root zone is always a good thing ! As far as FoxFarm goes, I've been growing in it for must be about five years now with no problems what so ever. I even germ. seeds with it ( cut in half with perlite ) and root clones in it never burnt anything... IMO any chem. fert. with n-p-k ratios like kool bloom 2-45-28 are overkill. There is no way a plant can use that much fert. all at once, so it just sits in your medium and raises your ph because of all the salts and metals that shit has in it, so then you flush, flush, flush. But with oganics even if you feed it one day and cut it down the next, the food that's still in the plant will turn into or break down into a flavanoid (sp) the natural flavor of the plant. This process happens in the cure and it won't happen if you've used chem fertz,it's just stuck there and makes it taste like cock~cka so if you do use chem fertz. you better flush weeks ahead of harvest... I've seen quite a few grow reports on different strains that said you don't get the real flavor until you do it organic, I'd have to agree ! isn't that the reason GH makes Floralicious...? later... Cewl this is still going. MK... I used Foxfarm Ocean Forest for 4 years until I got a bad batch and had all sorts of problems. The Promix is SO much compact and lighter it's like taking off leg weights. I started with HP a few runs back and it works killer. The only problem with the HP is it dries out too fast in Summer temps because I use 1 gal. bags SOG. I did some research and BX is very similar, but has Vermiculite mixed instead of all Perlite in HP. I picked up some BX and I'm thinking that I will use it in the summer and HP in the winter. The bails of BX are heavier and I have to use 2 hands to pick one up. With HP I can carry one bail in each hand. (kung fu grip) Also my 1st bail of BX is moist and smells a little musty. The next one might be dry. SO far the BX looks awesome and it drains just fine. Well... I gave up on the PBP. I'm sure that between all of us I could have come up with a cure for the rust. I'm using the Gen Hydro Flora that Rez told me about back when he pointed me at Promix, and damn if that isn't easy too. So far everything with the Flora looks nice and healthy! I'm used to a good flush so that won't be a problem. I just get talked into ALL sorts of shit at the grow store some times you know. I did try something awesome though. House and Garden's (Dutch) Shooting Powder. It's in little packages and after the math I use 2.5 tsp in 5 gal. of flower feed. I use it right when the buds are starting to bulk up and I get ALL SORTs of additional columns of calyxes coming off of the buds. My guess is it adds 10-15% bud weight!
Thanks for popping in,
Gamera

Yep on eveything. I also bought some GH nutrients this weekend to use w/ the SD. Is Rez gettn' a cut for all his GH promo :D ?. Lately i ve also used pro-mix PGX a blend specially for rooting cuttings & germination. This stuff is a much better grade & seems much lighter weight(real good stuff). It's worked a charm so far. :woohoo: for pro mix all the way around. Peace 3ld :joint:

Cewl! Yeah Rez works for Premiere and I work for General Hydroponics. Insider trading is where it's at. I bought extra stock before this thread.

House and Garden "Shooting Powder" is an awesome bloom booster. Kinda pricey but will add 10-15% bud weight. You get shoots of calyx's all over that you wouldn't normally get. I haven't tried Kool Bloom but I have tried Kabloom which I believe became Kool Bloom. I'm not sure if they changed the formula.

hey gam...i like kool bloom but...it has nitrogen in it. I would think it would be better to find a pk boost with 0 Nitrogen..like Monster bloom 0-50-30 or...Foxfarm just put out a new line of pk boosts..the big difference with their approach is micro-nutes too:) their 0-50-30 has iron,manganese,molyb...etc...I can only immagine this could help the bulking process too :) bio nova pk13-14 is good too :) just some zero nitrogen options for ya :)

I am having ph issues with promixbx currently as well, might be my 10.5PH tap water though LOL. Got things stabeled out now however. I have used pure blend pro in pro mix many times. I don;t like their flowering formulan but I do like their veg line. People sometimes talk shit on GH saying there gotta be better more recently made stuff, but back when I grew with chems GH 3 part with kabloom in the middle with a clearex flush never did me wrong. peace

cool and thanks! I'm using the natural ph down powder. 1 level 1/2 tsp to 5 gals tap water makes it 5.8ph. 1 level 1/4 tsp to 5 gals water + GH nutes = 5.8ph. My babes are really liking this. :D

yep the super sweet smelln' low yeilding pheno has fox's galore. It really is amazing to see that last week & how they swell almost looks unreal :yoinks:. Kinda just like a Kings crown.

I've found that the strains i've grown that have this sac running going on have always been med. to low yeilders. I suppose it depends on the size & how tightly packed the swolln' sac's are as mabey some are good yeilders. Not this 1 though it dry's light & is very sativa in buzz. I'll have this pheno in April for sure in fact i may even cure some of this actual harvest for the next 7 months & send it in. I haven't decided yet really, but the "wheels are turning round & round "...GDead ) & decisions have to be made soon as i like a 6 month cure for imo best results. 4 months will be ok also some strains just need longer...what i've found anyway.

And the Sweet by Botanicare is very similar to EJ's catylyst which is a very nice product with an amazing smell & my plants seem to love the stuff. Take care all & have a great weed-kend Gamera. Peace 3ld
heres what this pheno looks like dry...man is it stinky & has a mason jar requirment logo on each plant :D 3ld
