Hi all

A little update for everyone, I have added some Oaxacan to the mix from the same source as my original PRed from Panama. So its exciting and they seem very vigorous.

Looking forward to comments and discussions. Pollenation for seeds will be tricky with this many growing. So my thoughts on isolating strains are:

1. Use bag method and move plants far over on other side of home

2. Use indoor for some plants and pollenate then move back outside.

3. Take clones as soon as sex shows and hold them for when I can do one at a time.

That's about it, so far only extremely light feed with Coco Coir, Smart Pots, Maxicrop and Molasses with tiny bit of Fish Poop.

Try to let the coco get fairly dry before watering. Also 1x have done light foliar spray with Maxicrop in VERY dilute formula.

Thank you for sharing this journey with us, GG. And thank you for putting the time and effort into preservation.

I have personally found better luck in separating the plants from each other, placing in corners of the home (i guess bringing them inside in your situation), turning off all air circulation/movement, paint brushing the pollen on, letting it sit for a few hours, and then dousing in water and placing back.

I've found less success in pollination using plastic bags (unpollenated calyxes), I believe in part due to the moisture they trap, possibly rendering some of the pollen sterile. However, I've also taped the end of the bag tightly to the stem in fear of cross-contamination. This method also seems to need to use more pollen than paint brushing.

And your number three option is probably the most fool proof from that dreaded cross-contamination, but would take some time and also that extra clone space.

I'd love to hear any other tips/tricks for clean, successful pollenation with multiple strains.

It does seem that a great many experienced cultivators sing praises of outdoor over indoor, and I fully believe them. How can we possibly create a natural invironment indoors with low soil volume, low light, odd light spectrum, etc..? Nothing wrong with an initial seed run indoors to have stock to run outdoors in the tropics later on in life though

Out of curiousity, how are you planning on seperating the males?

Hi BAL,

A fellow Hendrix fan always welcome! A fourth option I did not mention which should work is as soon as the males express sex moving them back into the 18/6 light cycle and then moving them to 12/12 one at a time. Or in my case Group at a time.

The plants were also started weeks apart which should keep the different groups from all flowering at once.

A nice tread indeed.
Although I never encountered myself, technically 8 or 10 years ago you could bough "Punto Rojo" imported from our neighbouring country Paraguay.
Now, even regular brick weed is hard to come by.
I investigated this elusive strain asking around and reading, all the history tend to conflux in a certain select acres where "la roja" was plant and exported, all this on the district of Amambay.
I don't know if this plant is related to the colombian or central america variety with similar traits (memorable trippy high, sativa, with the distinct pistils colouration).
I anyone has any clue of this, I am interested to ear it.

hola Apodo, Manga Rosa brazilian, Punto Rojo colombian, Paraguaya were well known decades ago. La Roja to me is Punto Rojo. Have heard of paraguayan pressed bricks have lost their best qualities maybe 20 years ago when new hybrids around P. Juan Caballero I guess. Ive seen how elusive Punto Rojo can be in Colombia today and in just few years all sceneario of local lines has changed. Local weed is the cheapest while WW are grown from clone in greenhouses and full of chemicals and antifungi is most expensive. Paraguay has been used for production and turned to be one of biggest cannabis production areas in southamerica. All last talks were about its present poorest quality. I guess some old lines were crossed, others just turned full hermi. But overall, imho diluted. Nevertheless there are more red hairs in other areas like mexico, central america or caribe or even south in Peru or Bolivia

The quality has been in downhill for a while in the exports that reach our shores, at least since 2002.
Most of the quality stuff was exported to Brazil, since the decline on our personal income as a result of the "argentinazo" in 01, with a general deterioration of domestic economics, I guess it was more profitable to sell it abroad.
If you are lucky, you can score some nice "prensado", but it's not the norm anymore.
Here it was know simply as "Punto Rojo" as well.
A few years ago I stumbled on a article in a small paraguayan newspaper that explained that the zones were it was planted was a strategic zone to control by the factions that run the cannabis mass production and exportation.
Surely, in Paraguay itself you could gather much more variety and quality as cannabis goes. It would be logical, I guess...
The strain itself got some fame in the region, and the price was higher.
Now is mostly a smoker tell-tale.
I will keep enjoying this tread, see you around.

Hi all,

Here is my latest - We now have 5 Oaxacan Seeds up to add to the grow. Have also transplanted my first plant into a 5 Gal Smart-Pot. Grow medium is Coco Coir and organic amendments. Some light foliar spray with Maxicrop Seaweed and watering lightly once a week or so with extreme light organics.

Group 1 - Showing similar characteristics to what I remember my original PRed Green showed.

Group 2 seems wider leaf and very interested to see how it develops. Seems very vigorous too!

Group 3 - Is the PRed 74 and is narrow leaf, similar to what I remember and also seems slower growing. But lets see what happens.

Oaxacans - Group 4 - Have a very beautiful looking leaf structure and very vigorous so far as well.

Cohiba, only 3 sprouted in first attempt, came from a gentleman around. Unsexed yet. If I am not wrong Colombia, Brazil and Paraguay hybrid

Young Oaxaca A x Michoacan Spirit (Michoacan/Chihuahua/Michoacan) starting. Oaxacan A is more modern cut, also in same range of aromas and flavours to 79's really quick but darker too. Michoacan Spirit has a complex stinky earthy citric incensed aroma and finishes in around 14 weeks, can be done bit earlier indoors

I've always loved the look of your Oaxacan 79. I have drooled over BodyMinds' many pictures of it. Is it possible that you will release any of the S1s? I am waiting for the English version of your website to come out so I can monitor for any releases of Oaxacan 79 S1 or Oaxacan 79 x Oaxacan (13 finger perhaps).

The Michoacán Spirit looks very interesting also. Is that otherwise known as Limon Lemon?

I havent had the chance to work Oaxacan79 x Oaxacan myself so I see not chance to release it I guess as I was trying to do at first at least in a 75% version. Not seeds return = not job done here, just waiting, guess easy to understand But overall is not that potent. Ive read reports of 79 Oaxacan here. Is your task now guys with the 50% Oaxacan not mine. There Mextiza as well which has also 50% of this Oaxacan plus nepal and jamaican

This Michoacan is different lineage, darker green ones, complex aromas, Spicy Cola from Four Seasons. Verde Limon has such a lime green color and different aromas, lime, lemon, so citric, dont think related although grown in the past in Michoacan and other areas too. Some VL plants in veg could smell to lemon and has shorter leaflets

Hi all,

Been busy week and we just had record breaking heat wave here for the past week or 10 days. I lost one of my little Oaxacan seedlings and another is limping along but I have 3 that look ok.

Your feedback always appreciated. I have been doing some transplanting into 5 and 7 gallon Grow Bags which are amazing and work really well. We also had some grasshopper activity wand possibly something else that ate holes in the lower leaves.

If anyone can recognize the holes and help me it would be much appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the loss of all your seeds. Sounds like you are pointed in the right direction from what I hear of the Panama, and especially the Oaxacan.

Here is a Oaxacan that I am growing:

I've never tried this line, but I grew a Haze once that looked to be a Oaxacan leaning individual to me. It was amazing! It basically had a Thai type of high, but even more trippy. It was also distinctly euphoric, even blissful. Anything that competes with Thai is killer. Anything that beats it is pure perfection. I hope you find one like that. I lost it, and I'm on a quest to find another.

Looks good Thaibliss. Copalita from RC was a very nice line too, liked aromas and intensity of effect.

Oaxacan 79x Oaxaca seeds I got finally crossed atlantic ocean 3 times We tried to make the job in some mexicans fields but our friend was catched by army soldiers in sierra and sprayed with poison from a helicopter too. Gee is a long story behind, his lungs were bleeding month later. When I think about this Oaxacan, I like to think about the guys who expose their health and freedom for helping us too these years. Its not all glory and awards in this world and mexican farmers are passing tough times today being forced to survive growing whatever may given them enough for feeding their family or for medicines, being cannabis or Papaver somniferum now

More Oaxacan 79 in the picture, in this case the shortest size and internodals and amazingly quickest phenos of all, she even wanted to flower now outdoors Not exactly dwarfs as you see but is so hard to find something that quick for a sativa expression. Fooling around also with some short and very very quick Red Snakes F2 selections of same quick influence, 100% sativa shape, cant see any indica (leafs, leaf colors, etc) influence at all in F2.

Reminds me Mextiza results as well, at 7-8 weeks could be so euphoric and long lasting effect while harvested at 12 could turn more introspective and denser effect If for the effect, I choose Mextiza over this Oaxacan79

GG just let them go, plant health lets them grow well now in veg, looking good
