A really good bong will be scientific brocacilate glase, glass on glass joints 14.4 but usually 18.8. Lots of brans out there, my PHX with pill bottle ash catcher and keck clips was about 289 or something I paid225 I think after bargaining.

That's a nice bong, I'll look at those for sure. Is that a diffuser or something at the end of that stem piece? (The part that's in the water, inside the bong.)

hi, i understand the question you are asking...
you want a couple names of bong companys. all i know of really is roor.de
Now just for an opinion... nothing beats hand blown bong that someone really spent time to make and customize to your liking, and having a bong noone else could have... that to me would be nice. Being like, you cant find a bong like this anywhere, custom made instead of on "assembly torch lines"----just my take on things... hope someone here knows about more then roor if you still wanna go by the brand like roor and nike... hah
take good care!!:eggnog:

I'm no bong expert, but I bought EHLE after reading couple recommendations. It's good german(?) quality, and suprisingly cheap...

Def check ehle I hit a really nice tube and it was high in terms of diameter of the tube.

In the local hydro shops they're selling Phire brand glass. Cheaper lineup but the do have 1,2,3 tree perks, diffused diffy, beaker or flat bottom. Maybe they're available in your area?

good drown

i also bought a ice catcher ehle with with defuser and a carbon chamber. it hits nice, and i no longer get that nasty brown stuff on my teeth after taking a monster rip. The bong I stopped using is a very nice 9mm thick hand blown 2 footer. it hits amazing with the right bowl, I just wanted something a tad "healthier"

starting 2010 off right with some brand new Talon

Ehle is decent quality glass, at great prices, but as always with glass you usually end up getting what you pay for. Ehle's don't usually come thicker than 5mm, and often times they have significant flaws.
if you're looking for brand names that will do you right in terms of tubes, i can reccommend RooR.de, Toro, Sovereignty (SG), and US Tubes. my RooR.de is absofuckinglutely perfect, and custom is always a nice thing. Toro and SG both have great tree perc designs, and their percs have the best flow of any perc'd tubes out there. US Tubes is known for being big, hefty, nearly indestructible sons of bitches, and $315 for a 9mm beaker with the kind of quality work they put out is a damn good price as well.
whichever one you choose, i can almost guarantee that if you stick to these brands you're not likely to be disappointed
EDIT: though, if she's into worked glass, you can get worked tubes from different artists as well, depending on your style preference

RooRs are awesome glass!!! Get one with a perc, ice catchers, ash catch and you are golden, er...she is. Not like you wont get to use it. ;)

Recently the German side of the company hasn't really cared about the United States, and wouldn't ship anything to them (so that meant that what was out there was all that America was getting), and basically left it up to glass makers in the United States to blow the pipes.

Last month after RooR.us changed to Sheldon Black and starting making money, they are changing and are coming out with a universal line of glass, no distinction of US made or German made.

I still use my overpriced roors. I went to buy a new "water pipe"(cracks me up sayin that) and the toro, as mentioned above, caught my eye. Then I heard the price... I thought roor was overpriced glass. Toro has a little more intricate work, but for 900$, piss off.

that's not entirely true, though you have the general idea. the german company that owns the RooR name had previously given a US shop the rights to produce tubes with certain specifications that could be sold with a RooR logo. now, in light of the number of fake tubes that were plagueing buyers everywhere, RooR germany has given the name to the shop that previously produced ZOB tubes, but as before, only bongs made to RooR germany's specifications can be sold with a logo. the company that used to make RooR.us became Sheldon Black, and they make very nice glass as well. RooR.de has said they are making an effort to make the difference between .us and .de a thing of the past, mostly by making .de's more available to US retailers

EDIT: if you think RooR.de or Toro is overpriced, use something like a weedstar for a month and then hit a .de. the difference is clear, and for the serious buyer it's more than worth the price

Fidel named all the top brands.

I'd go for: US ROOR (perc!) or DE ROOR (non-perc, but "nicer"), Toro (JP is a madman, and a friend), Ehle (if you know where to find them), SG glass (available in more and more headshops every day), anything Luke Wilson, US Tubes, DC by Darby, and also over the past 5 years I have watched ZOB step their game up to the point where I would probably buy one now. Especially 18" double percs for just about 3 benji's.

I have a Zob myself with double tree percs and a diffused ashcatcher got it all for 300$ hits like a dream. Also comes with a ice catcher but you don't need it after all that diffusion.

i won't buy a ZOB until they change that damn logo, i think it looks ridiculous, but you're right, they are stepping up their game in light of their newly acquired rights to the RooR name

damn, thanks for all the awesome responses. I've been trying to google some of these companys and it seems hard to find retailers. I googled sovereignty and first 4 pages are all forum posts and video links. Does anyone know any retail sites?

Illadelph is the way to go. I've hit RooRs, ZOBs, and other mentioned glass, and none of them stand up to Illadelph's quality. I have a beaker bottom and the pull on this thing is just unbelievable; seasoned tokers always complement my glass. I think just beaker bottoms run bout $300 and straight tubes in the ~$250 range. Depends on location and accessibility I imagine too.

short of starting one of these arguments again, i have to disagree with you. Illadelph is barely comparable to RooR.us and Ehle, and certainly falls far short of competing with RooR.de, Toro, SG, or any of the companies mentioned earlier as high quality glass. the main reason for this is simply the quality of the material; Illadelph has been known to use cheap chinese borosilicate, as opposed to the much purer Schott's used in RooR.de, Toro, etc. also, Illa's quality control is, frankly, a joke compared to higher end companies, and often results in badly annealed or otherwise flawed tubes hitting shops. for $300, i'd just buy a US Tubes 9mm beaker and not have to worry about cracking under temperature stress or janky, thin joints

I think you stole my inline ash-catcher just kidding but it's identical to mine.^^^^^

Wildrok inline from showmeglass.com :) works like a charm

man I hear you, and I dont wanna start any flame war with u. what I will say is that yes I have seen some-not-so-good Illadelphs at my local glass shop...they were supposed to be 5mm but look nowhere near as thick/nice as my 5mm. also their joints didnt look very thick. solution: dont buy it if it looks sub-standard!

that being said, i got this glass from aqualabtechnologies.com and it is about 3 fold better than any other aforementioned glass that I've personally used. "barely comparable"....i 100% disagree with your statement. two other friends i have own Illys and they are also very very nice bongs.

ive dropped this baby twice and my cats knocked it over once, all onto carpet from about 2 feet and it has no scratches. my friend bought a ZOB and on the first bowl the little glass holder on the bowl broke off with seriously little to no force

these are just my personal feelings and i did not mean to offend anyone and in no way want to start flames. im sure whatever glass you buy will be put to good use my man :)

well, i'm sure you can find a decent quality Illa at a headshop, but my point that in general Illadelph does not compare to RooR or Toro stands. it's not very hard to find an Illadelph that shouldn't have made it past the torch, but have you ever seen a .de with even the slightest flaw? that's my point. i don't doubt that your Illadelph is a nice enough tube, but anything that comes from a company that doesn't have any qualms about putting clearly flawed glass on the market has me raising my eyebrows
