Anyone actually interested in the breeds behaviour, might raise an eyebrow at 2 out of 3 being problem dogs, in just a couple of years. While the idea there are no good handlers around, isn't worth salt when the protection detail of the president are using dogs, but being bitten by these.

Is it good for national security, when the president has a dog that his wife and security services can't control. Are we to believe Biden is somehow immune to getting bitten.
I know someone nipped by the family pet. Thought nothing of it, but within days lost both legs at the knee, and now has hours of dialysis each day. He was about 40yo. So that GS is featuring in risk analysis. We can't be flippant about it.


We had a great newfoundland that would never hurt anyone, and was more intelligent than some people I have met. I'm not against dogs, I'm against making choices based on emotion instead of facts.

Unfortunately, the wrong kind of people still found the first strain attractive to use as guard dogs for illegal activities. Now, these people are training pitties to attack and kill whatever comes near. They are being taught to be aggressive.

The methods by which some people are training their pitties are deplorable! They are chained up, taunted, beaten, and starved. You can only abuse an animal for so long before you change its behavior permanently.

Taught to Kill​

Pit bulls are trained to be aggressive by using other people’s pets as bait. Cats, rabbits, and other small animals are used to draw out the dog's attack instinct. When you beat and starve a dog before throwing it a "snack," what do you think it is going to do? They are also given smaller dogs to practice fighting with. If they don’t kill their opponent, they are beaten severely.

One of the most tolerant, patient, and gentle dogs is now being portrayed as the most dangerous. Because of their bad reputation, at least 2,800 pit bulls are put to death every day—by far the highest of any specific breed. Before pit bulls were labeled as the most aggressive, Rottweilers were considered to be the most aggressive breed of dog. Before that, it was the Doberman and the German Shepherd. Banning laws have been disputed in regards to each of these breeds, but nothing has been implemented.

Lola: Proving Them Wrong​

At one time, my daughter owned a pit bull named Lola. (Her ex-husband now houses her.) I was really quite upset with the two of them for getting this dog without my permission. However, she ended up being a cherished and valued member of our family!
Lola is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. Her best friend, Audi, is a Boston Terrier less than half her size. She loves people and I never worry about her being around my grandchildren. She is very protective of them.

I find it hard to believe that the Americans took something from England, and made it smaller. I think the accuracy of her article failed very early. I skipped to how many breeds they are, and again, clueless. I was willing to give it a read, but she's an owner, not an expert. It's even signed as such.

dogs killing coyotes? i damn love it! i don't care if it was protecting livestock, or just got a hard-on for coyotes. we shoot 'yotes on sight here, day or night. they are really rough on turkey poults, deer fawns, calves, lambs, and small pets (both dogs and cats), and if not shown the error of their ways, occasionally attack small children. they are an invasive species here east of the Mississippi, and are no more welcome than others like carp, starlings, dutch elm disease, chestnut blight, etc.

I like pit bulls. I've only had good experiences with them.
I have, however, had bad experiences with pit bull owners who abuse their dogs, "training" them for fighting in grossly inhumane ways (basically torture).

Despite having a Pitbull mix myself I'm not a Pitbull apologist. I rescued a dog from a shelter to give it a decent home. I've had nothing but rescue dogs for decades. A Pitbull can be a very dangerous dog. The mindset of "It's the nicest dog. It's never bit anyone" is all too common which leads people to become complacent and that's when bad things can happen. Pitbull's can inflict a significant amount of damage very quickly.

Pitbull's account for the most dog attack fatalities and they lead that by a wide margin. Regardless of the dogs history anyone owning one needs to maintain control of their dog at all times and not allow them to roam around residential neighborhoods. Yards need to be secured to prevent escape and a quality harness and leash used when walking the dog in public.

Owners should always yield to others when encountered in public. Too many dog owners just expect everyone else to accommodate them and their dog when it should be the dog owner making accommodations, stepping aside with their dog fully under control and letting people walking down a path, sidewalk, etc... have space.

Any dog can have a bad day.
