hey pipe that looks good. i have did my fair share of mold cutting out of colas. its sicking and i fkn hate it. there isnt really much we can do though we are at the mercy of mother nature. the only thing we can do that is very important is the genetics. if they dont have no mold resistance then we will not have a harvest. thats how it is for me and my growing climate at least. the humidity is 96% right now and rain suppose to start again tomorrow. not sure i like this weather forecast coming up for the next few days so i will most likely be going to finish taking the tops of my Delas out there in the morning before the rain starts. they are at around 90-95% milky and a touch of amber specs here and there,so that is good enuff to satisify my needs. last year i pulled my dela on week 8 bc of security issue and it was still some potent stuff. week 9 just started today on it

Hey guys! Thanks for stopping in. I probably should have left the bottoms to ripen. Its just the way I get the crop out is by the main stem. Lay them all down on a camo tarp, duct tape the stems, tie the tarp at both ends, and the garden is mobile! Sling that thing up on your shoulder and go!

I'm glad to get them out. The ripeness is great. Some plants better than others. This would be a good year to select early finisher seed! Going through them today, I feel better about it.

That rain is coming by here tonight and tomorrow, kyg! But it shouldn't last too long. They increased the rain forecast, and then temperatures are going to cool down. Glad I got the girls in before the rain. Should clear out and be good drying weather this week.

How about a little update? Enjoy! God is good!

8 Jars so far. One is missing from the pic.

I know what I'll do with the earlier buds. Those can be for cooking ... Could do small batch hash every once in a while. Glad I took them. Cold front coming in today. Lots of rain and then cooling to around 60-65 high temp in a few days.

Drying while its raining or moist out is difficult. You really have to watch for mold during those times. Usually the sun comes out enough to dry things down. Drying under a tarp is better than rotting in the field... Air circulation is important, so if it can be elevated that would help I think.

Get a good quality rope. Tie it up tight between 2 sturdy trees. Hang branches. Its best to leave the tarp off if there isn't a chance for rain, but be ready to go cover them up if necessary. Not to complicated just throw the tarp over and tie the 4 corners. If a 2nd tarp is needed, tie the tarps together to keep water out. There were a couple drips in the tent, but it wasn't much. I did have to prune out a small handfull of buds with mold starting.

The rain came. It was long, steady, and now its cool. The season doesn't have much left if I stayed in anyway... So glad they aren't out there molding... Hope next year, the heavy rain holds off another couple weeks. That thunderstorm drove water into the buds, making mold worse.

Finally got done trimming this evening. Now time for the bubble hash. We have about 7 gallons of trim. Thinking I'll buy ice this time. Stretch out those arms... Smoke tastes good, has potency. Pipeline is happy.... :smoke:

Thanks guys! Thats Marco. He's a good dog. Pic is from 2008. Enjoying all the fresh harvest. Still bummed I won't have any fully ripe buds. I did pick them too early I decided. The season just shut down a couple weeks early this year. Just means you have to get out there and inspect for mold. Its hard to get a good look at the tall buds, so you really have to be careful. A lot of weight can be lost to mold in those. At the same time, if you let it fully ripen, a lot of weight can be gained.

Got the hash made this evening. Can't wait to try it. Produced pretty well even though I forgot the ice! I'll get a pic up soon. :smoke:

great grow pipe! we have had a storm come thur since last friday and it has not stopped. all of my plants are havested as well..lost a good bit to mold on the orgnaic dela and jacky. these storms couldnt have come at a worse time..damn mother nature giveth and taketh away lol i suppose mold will always be something i gotta deal with no matter what strains u grow bc if it gets wet, cool and over cast skys for 7-10 days like it has here recently then it will mold. i had to pick a few early this year as well but its better then a ripper getting it and or mold taking out the entire plant. i do know one thing my weed is alot better then the 1-2 weed dealers here has got so its for sure win for my wallet and my head lol im already looking forward to the 2016 season LOL im going bigger for next year:woohoo: looking forward to seeing what u got planned for next year. i got 1 pandora auto and 2 strains from mephisto genetics 1 is called fatsoma express and the other is SODK auto..they suppose to be the connisour of autos, that i got as freebies with my recent order from seeds man that im gonna have a hand at trying to grow 3 autos next year.

Glad to hear you got yours in before its too late. Part of the game I guess. If I could, I'd be in a greenhouse in my backyard.... Outside growing is kind of out of control sometimes.... :D

Sounds like good things are to come next year. I have plenty of seed to spread to friends and family. Will have to make a donation to ICMAG for sure! :smoke:

The smoke is pretty good still as early as it is. Have to be thankful for what you have! All you can do is try your best.

Hey bigdank! A lot of outdoor drying is common sense. Weather will get moist again for a couple days, but today its sunny and breezy, drying them down well. Some branches are drier than others, so you want to let it all dry down well. With some moist and cooler conditions this week, they will need to hang for about 10-14 days before they are jarred. Regular mold inspections and patience is the name of the game. Once jarred, I don't always have a chance to burp them every day, so I like them to be dried down well... Should warm back up by next week, so it would be perfect jarring weather.. Jar during dry conditions! Buds absorb moisture from the humid air even after dried. Squeeze test and smell test.

Hey woolybear, Thanks! I've been growing for a few years now, and haven't done a journal for a while. Always learning something new.

This year we learned a few things. Mound soil around plants, break up crust and mulch if you can. Work soil every time before top dress feeding, then stratch in with your fingers.

Prune inner popcorn bud branches if possible.

Don't harvest early if possible. Top buds should not be taken before last couple days in Sept. Its best to try to pick out mold and wait a few days if possible. If conditions aren't too moist, the mold you don't catch shouldn't spread all that fast.

Pull males early, but always leave one thats in a good spot not to shade out females. This will allow an early pollen source for when the females come out. You can cut males down a little earlier in Aug (7-15) to reduce seed production.

I'm sure I'll think of more...

Welcome to October. Stay tuned for the hash update! :smoke:

ya pipe my dream is to have a state of the art greenhouse in my backyard. i would hook up some electric sliders on the roof so i could just push a button and have the top slide open and shut. i would also have some big ass fans to keep the air moving 24/7 on the ladys..hell i would prolly just put me a bed and tv in it and me and my 2 yorkkies would just live in that lol maybe one these days we will be able to get a greenhouse like that!! that is if our dumbass goverment will get their head out their ass and make it legal, but untill then its in the bush for me. i learned alot of new things this year as well. i always say to myself if i dont learn something new ever year then im not progressing as a grower. looking forward to the hash update..do u have any ideal on the strains u running next year or is it to early?..awesome grow brother!!

Man, that would be a sweet place to live. Wake up the smell would hit like a ton of bricks.

Did you hear Oregon opened medical dispenseries up for recreational smokers 21 and over. Prohibition is ending... Its just taking way too long. I'm afraid if they don't move soon to end prohibition, more people will get caught up in the system. This is the crossroads of America. We are BIG on racing here. Everyone comes here from all over! I don't want us to become a trap for all those who bring their cannabis through here. Its the money. Lots of money being made on keeping things the same.

Still letting the new hash dry. I'll go out there after I finish eating and see if I can get a tester. I'd like to snap some pics.

I have killed my work bag. Using these rectangular cat litter buckets, the bag got worn on the sides. Its about 10 years old. Probably time for a new set... :smoke:

Next year, I think I'm just running my seed again. I may get something else going, but have no plans to yet... I want to finish my crop! It can be done... :smoke:

hey pipeline good job with the harvest. To bad most had to be cut early, but that's just the way it is sometimes. I'm probably making hash for the first time this year. What amount of hash do you get of a couple pounds of popcorn bud?
cheers GG

Thanks gorilla. At least I didn't harvest handfulls of mold! Always next year to try and finish a crop properly...

Depends on how many runs you do. I recommend running it at least 3 times, maybe 5 if you can. If you put good trim or especially popcorn buds in, you will get a good ball. 2 pounds should yield a few grams of hash... My bags came with instructions stir/agitate for 15 minutes, pull work bag. Let stand for 30 minutes. Pull middle size bag. Wait 15 minutes then pull fine mesh bag. Process takes about an hour, but using this method seems to produce good quality and quantitiy. I think waiting allows the trichomes to settle. If im trying to get hash done quickly, I'll wait 15 minutes after stirring before pulling 2nd bag.
