Phototron info?

I bought a phototron about 10 years ago, but it was not enough to overcome my brown thumb, then I discovered og, and decided to try more conventional methods. I vaguely recall a thread over there from a guy who made a good argument that a bunch of phototrons might not be a bad way to go. I've used mine as a seedling starting chamber (it worked real well for that) I'm thinking it might not be a bad thing for a single show plant or a clone mother. mainly I need to find a place to put it other than my already crowded veg closet. it's pretty enough that my living room might be an option.

Hi there Hairy Bass....Ive had a thought about the reflection issue at the top above ur HID.....How about if you could find some Heat resistant paint..like hammerite(I bet the hammered finish would be quite good at dispersing light evenly too, like those dimpled inserts you can buy for ur hoods. Plain white would be good or a chrome even better.
Plasti-Kote would be OK too I guess, i think in the states its called Plasti-dip....its like spary paint, but its actually a tough latex coating andthere are heat resistant types. Just a thought.....

Thanks Mr GreenJeans, great link! Your help along with others is really appreciated! What a great place! So far everyone has been helpful and respectful. At the start, I figured I'd get alot of sh*t for attempting a phototron based grow. Even growers who know this is a very limiting way to grow have been cool. A mature forum in my opinon. Thanks all.

Left hemi, I agree. A phototron in the living room would be cool. Much like any house plant on display. I just hope some day that would be safe to do!

It's safe and "legal" here, but I try not to expose my nieces and nephews to my proclivities so my siblings don't have to 'splain. I like those other grow boxes I've seen, 4 clear sides and a 250 mh in the top (forget the name, sorry. very pretty, even more expensive than the phototron)

Houston, we have BUD!

Houston, we have BUD!

Here is a quick update. My plant has really stretched alot! Kinda sucks and I'm hoping it stops soon or my top will have to be trained. Buds are popping up all over and the plant is healthy. It's been 14 days of 12/12 and 6 days since I spotted a single pair of pistels. Not sure when stating how long it has flowered which number I should use? Anyone? Anyway, she's been getting a teaspoon of Shultz Bloom plus per gallon of water every watering (once every 5 days) since switching to 12/12. No signs of over fert. I understand this strain loves the nutes but I was just thinking that perhaps that had contributed to the stretching. Anyway, I'll keep y'all updated. Wish me luck and good luck to all the great people here with thier grows!

Looks like she's doin good in there Hairy..hopefully you have the height for her..Like MGJ was saying LST training..I've heard of LST like a corkscrew, which might work good in that Phototron..It would be great for ready-to-flower clones.

Thanks Packn. I'll probably use LST if she gets any taller. I was looking forward to a main cola put this tron is starting to feel very small.

Thanks Sleepy. I'm assuming your reffering to crushing the stem. I'm a bit worried about doing that and just want to end up with some good bud. I might mess the plant up because of my inexpierence. Next grow I'll be more aggresive.

I'll update after I decide what to do. Perhaps in a few days. Thanks for everybodys advice. It's appreciated.

Damn Streching!

Damn Streching!

She continues to stretch. You'll notice that the leaves are wilting. In all my wisdom, I let her dry out! I'm now learning about the rate she uses water. She must be root bound but the buds continue to grow. Anyway, here is my LST attempt.

Well, the summer heat has hit. The average temp in the tron is 88 degrees. Yes, I run it at night during the coolist time. She needs to be watered daily now. Watered with no nutes the last two times. She is wilting again! I'm going to cut some of the lower leaves since they are now touching soil. No rot yet but I'd like to stop it before it happens. A healthy plant in a small area. Now that the heat is on things will change.

2 Weeks of Flowering

2 Weeks of Flowering

Well, it's been 2 weeks since I first noticed a pair of pistels. She continues to stretch. I'm hoping this ends soon. She needs all this energy to go to the buds which are small. Temps are high. They range from 87F to 91F while the lights are on. Learning alot. I Just hope to get some wieght out of this grow! I've seen others pics at 2 weeks and the buds looked alot fatter. It is what it is. Here is some updated photo's.

Over all look
