Sorry i havent read the whole thread, just wondering whats the cheapest i can get one of these fixtures? Diy or prebuilt, im in the uk.

Thanks in advance

Would you guys agree that the 630w cmh lights like the dimlux and doubled be the equivalent to lets say a magnetic 1000w as far as yield is concerned?
Looking to take the plunge I just dont see many people running them. I also wonder why the papillon website only suggest to use these lights in veg or as supplemental lighting in flower?

Where can one find the papillon doubled in the states???

hello good comunity of icmag,i have a few questons regarding 315,945 and its setting and would require your help.
1)my setup would use 3x315 in 8x4 space
2)i cannot figure out which ballast do i need i read whole topic and saw phillips and gel,but i dont realy want to mess and change stuff if not necessary so i would like to know if Solistek Matrix Digital Dimmable Ballast with LCD & Timer 600w would be ok not the wattage but ballast itself?im from europe bytheway. If not can you point me to some ballasts please.inside this question can i use one lets say 1000w ballast to power two 315?or is it better to use two separate 400w?
2)what do you think about parabolic reflector hoods are they worth the money or not?
3)do i need cooled hoods or not?
4)opinnions of how many plants would YOU get into this space scrog or sog or regular it doesent matter i need oppinions so i could decide in the middle:)
thanks for your help in advance.

Nish - I can't help you on UK components, but you might look at the DimLux & D Pappilon gear.

Dr. K - I don't know about results from specific fixtures, but many people have found the 315's performance to be pretty close to a 600w HPS. The 600w is the sweet spot in efficiency for HPS, so I would guesstimate that (2) 315's should be fairly close to a 1K, but the penetration isn't going to be anywhere near the 1k simply because the intensity isn't there.

el6 - 1) The 315 requires it's own proprietary ballast. The lamp needs a low frequency power source, and the only low frequency electronic ballasts that I'm aware of are designed specifically for this application. It is also not compatible with running multiples on a 1k or retrofitting to a 400w magnetic ballast.

2)No experience with the parabolics.

3)Cooling is going to depend on your application. I don't run A/C, and need to fan force the hoods. Others have found the lamps to be much easier to cool than HPS and run the lamps open.

4) Personally, I wouldn't try scrogging a 4x8 unless you have good access all the way around. From my experience running a 30" x 30" scrog, I think that I would try 8 plants in that space.

I cant tell the difference between them

you might also google for welthink EU. are you in a position to have corporate credentials?

I just types 315 eu in the phillips search. oddly enough i do not see a EU 930 bulb.

If you have a friend/acquaintance/can pay for a shop/ongoing commercial concern, that you can use their credentials, or they will order it for you, welthink will ship you their knock off 315 ballast. at a decent discount over a Philips branded unit.

but you may be getting what you pay for.

Sorry, my internet has been down for a couple of days.

El6, I think that the ballasts that LP posted are the newest version for the 315. I haven't used them, all of mine are the older style, but they should work fine.

Or those may be intended for the European market. Dunno.

The spring loaded European style push to release terminals are easy & generally work well w/ stranded wire, even on vibrating equipment.

thanks rives and jhhn,i have one more question,do you think it would be better if i would use 2x942 and 1x930 in 8x4 or it doesent matter and i should go with 3x942?and how much do you think is reallisticaly to expect from 8 plants,2 gallon coco pots, lst, and if everything goes ok,i know this is a relative question but just for guide line:)best wishes to all

It's impossible to say with any level of certainty because there are so many factors involved, but I've been able to pull 4ozs/plant for most strains, and just a little shy of 1gpw. Figuring 4 ozs x 8 plants = 32 ozs or 2 lbs. Going the other way, .9 x 945w = 850 grams or 30 ounces.

Good luck.

I'm starting to get some monsters coming through my perpetual, plants that are more than filling a 3x3 scrog net and then still stretching a foot through the net. Can't wait till all my LED's are replaced with these 315s. I moved a plant under a 315 tonight and noticed some deficiencies and yellowing, under the LED I couldn't see a thing wrong with it, as soon as it was under natural light I noticed.
