Hiya Farmers,

For those interested. Tonight is a Zoroastrian celebration called Chaar Shambeh Suri. It is a tradition to jump over a few fires (like kinda camp fires) to clean all the impurities of last year and start a fresh new year which will be this coming Thursday called Nowrouz…I think it is a very beautiful way but it usually ends up in some accidents and tragedies coz people exaggerate and kinda go a bit overboard… Anyways thought I should share…. Sorry was too far to be able to show the insane fires….

I enjoy hearing/seeing of other peoples cultures. There are many cultural differences in this world. My son is a world traveller and I have always enjoyed hearing/seeing of his travels.

Are there many other Zoroastrian celebrations during the year that everyone joins in?
Are there many Zoroastrians left in Iran?

I’ve always been interested in Zoroastrianism.

One of the oldest Continuous religions in the world
Wikipedia page is a good place to start.

I think zoroastrism is where the Japanese got the name for Mazda cars

I was looking at the Encyclopedia Britannica regarding the Zoroastrianism religion.
For my old brain it would take some serious contemplation to take it all in. Historically speaking, it sounds to be very old in it's origins.

Apparently they have had the same sacred fire continuously burning for thousands of years.

Hopefully our good friend Mr Persianfarmer can tell us some more from a local perspective :)

Wow thanks for these kind words which warm my heart. Well I share the same passion as your son. The more you experience other cultures, the more you become open minded and Human with a big H. You learn so much when traveling and the adventures you experience are unparalleled.
Now I will make sure to incorporate more cultural stuff and please feel free to do the same🙏🏻🫶🏻❤️

Yes Sir would be my privilege but remember that I am far from being an expert on the subject🤣😂

I believe what you are referring to is the Fire Temple of Yazd where it id said that they have kept the sacred fire burning for more than 1500 years (the others are in India I believe like 7 or 8, and I had the privilege to visit the one in Mumbai).
Hope I was able to shed some light as they say.

Yes Sir very old and beautiful religion. We were all Zoroastrian at one point and I wish it would have stayed as such!

It is also known as Mazdayasna and it is centered on the holy book by the name of Avesta. Ahura Mazda was the God of the Sky and Ahura means Lord and Mazda means Wisdom.

Zarathustra, as you might have heard like with the philosopher Nit, was the spiritual founder, sage, prophet or even went by the name of Wonderwalker. That is of course based on the scriptures by the name of Gathas.

It is a dualistic religion with principles based on good mind, truth and order, dominion, devotion, wholesomeness and immortality.

Records show that it has originated in the 6th century BCE but some say it is even more ancient like 2nd millenium BCE.

I find alot of similarities between Buddhism and Zoroastrianism.

Hope I was able to answer with my limited general culture and knowldege

Awesome summary Persian farmer.

I remember reading that Persian traders took it to India a long time ago and still have community there.... I can’t remember what they call themselves though but they are very successful

Beautiful religion imo too.

Such a shame it’s fading into history.

Is it still tolerated in Iran?

Hey thx bro, appreciate that you like these things, and please do educate me as well. As for example you can talk about the Maoris and their Mana (hope i am correct, i do read quite a lot but
neurons are diminishing 😂😂😂 )

Yes you are absolutely right. it originated from Iran, and most probably via trade, went to Northern India.
I had the pleasure to be a bit with them when I lived in Maharashtra. I think what you are refering to are the PARSI, and they are a very distinguished community in India. For example the famous TATA is a Parsi. They were facing some genetic issues as they would only marry between themselves.
Hit me up again anytime, love having these kinds of discussion where we can learn and feed from each other and grow our general knowledge…. So come back at me with Kiwi culture stuff and feed me with your knowledge ❤️😉🙏🏻
