Sour is mostly diesely gas, some people say theres a citrusy, lemony back end but it definitely wouldnt be the main flavor.
i think there's a cut of sour d that is supposed to be more citrus, i just don't remember which. i do remember sour d back in the day that had a slight lemon kick, but still... the most prominent smells, as you said, it's the 'diesel' funk

Ya I'm kinda curious about the Albany cut as well. I've seen pics of it and she looks like some sour for sure. Ive got some Bloomington hb running and pics of that that I've seen have looked sour as can be....

Idk the Albany is skunky diesel gas. Ive grown the Cloney as well(from albany) and itsjust gas skunkiness too. I feel like if you had lemon candy flavor in your sour back then, you were most likely smoking something being passed around as sour, like a sour Og or sour kush. Ive never seen anyone say the Albany is lemon heads candy. Thats the first im hearing of that.

What happened to this one? Is it the albany cut and do you have some pictures of finished flowers? I'm very curious:)
I still have it!!! Im keeping her around for awhile. Shes great smoke and a heavy yielder. Straight skunky gas. I do have some pics i will throw up of finished flower. The most recent pics I posted are of ECSD(Chaco cut it came to me as). The one if u scroll up a bit from 2024 is the Cloney cut

Heres some bud shots of the cut I got from Cloney. He's from Albany and its just straight Skunky Diese Gas, no sweetness or lemon or citrus or none of that.

So here's what I think. And sorry to cut in but it's important.

Imho
You may get a named cut from two different places and have it be different. For example two different places may have 2 dif cuts they call Albany. Both thinking they are legit and the original.

Genetic drift and or just different cuts being called the same thing... either way, worth thinking about.

At this point it's not just a matter of name, but also name and specific source. Imho...

The original Albany cut (not Original Diesel), tastes like Lemon Heads candy.
Thanks much! If you know a good source for this shoot me a pm or post it up please, I'd really appreciate it. That sounds great

Thanks for the info. It's been so long since I got Sour and I was young, and only got it once or twice, but I do recall some citrus (not full lemon candy, but that sounds good) for some reason. Maybe it wasn't legit sour... or my memory is off. It was from one guy i didnt know well, a real weed snob in a good way.

Regardless if there's a specific cut from a specific source that does have lemon included in the flavor, I'd love to run it. Maybe I just want Larry OG....

I have a Sour Kush line I've been playing with. But the kush dom phenos are not lemon, just rank nasty og. The Diesel phenos are great and cleaner profile imo, I'll have to see if I get one this round, and if there's any citrus, but I don't recall any. This is the best Sour I've run from seed, but the phenos are mostly stable mixes. I wish there were distinct OG kush and Sour phenos more often than mixes.

That said Sour Kush probably has so many different variations right? Just Sour Diesel x OG Kush. some headband is the same lineage too. I'm sure there are a few versions. If one specific breeder has a lemon line, or Sour og seeds or a cut that's lemon please let me know! That would be cool to get.

Edit
I should add, I think way back I ran some Reserva Privada Sour Diesel. Maybe that's where my lemon thing is coming from. I assume their quality has gone downhill like most big European breeders, otherwise I'd buy some seeds and see.

Your pics here look like what I know as the Albany cut. I have also grown "ECSD" ten years ago, that one was all skunky diesel with maybe a little grapefruit on the exhale. I now believe that to be the same as the "Original Diesel" just looking at a ton of pics and reading what people say about it. I just recently got a new Sour Diesel (that's how it came, just "Sour Diesel") from a legit guy most here would know. But it's just starting to veg. I'm not sure which cut it is, but we'll see how she goes.

@Jutashi It is entirely possible that the cuts I have ran in the past were given to me under the wrong, or mistaken names... it happens a lot. I'm real curious to see how this one goes, but she absolutely reeks already and just a small solo cup plant right now. High hopes for this one.

Larry OG is one of my all time favorite OG's. Lemon Pinesol, not sweet though. But mouth coating, lip smacking amazing lemony piney floor cleaner taste and a nice upp-ish high, though it will fade into a heavier high. I haven't been able to track that one down since like 2010.

@Wolverine97 Yooo it is possible, but either way I wasn't saying that you were given any wrong cuts. I was just saying I haven't heard the Albany is Lemon Candy before thats all brother! Everytime I've seen something to do with that cut, it was always just diesel skunk or gas. Cloney is from Albany and had his cut for years(can only go off what he told me), it does look similar to pictures of Original Diesel that I've seen in veg, although she does purple up in the leaves in late flower. She's also easy to keep happy compared to the ECSD I just ran. I've read original diesel doesnt purple at all but IDK I dont have experience with her. I feel Cloneys cut is a legit Diesel though, BUT most people know the ECSD here in this thread to be the real sour diesel. Other than that I cant say otherwise as there's a bunch of different cuts with different names attached to them floating around. Id say any of the cuts grown well is great smoke :)

@LG/ I just finished some Loompas Headband/Underdog OG, she's basically an OG. Shes pretty lemony with a strong gas smell. I think shes fire.

Its definitely a diesel , yes. Beyond that idk. I can say she smells fire and looks the part though.

Tbh, I feel like what people will recognize as sour diesel comes down to when you started smoking sour. If you were smoking it in the early 2000s, youll most likely say its just straight lip puckering diesel fuel. Later on you had rez releases, sour x ogs, etc, going around all as just Sour Diesel, muddying up the water. There's podcast and all sorts of shit about sour out there. I wish I had the answers like the plenty of other people , you can go back 10 years in this thread and the same question still gets asked lol.

Yeah of course you're right. I'm very curious specially bout the Albany from Cloney, thats why I'm asking.

Thx that already really helps! I know Sour Diesel since around 2007. I bought it first in Amsterdam at the grey area coffee shop.

Your pictures really look like the one I'm searching for! Real Dank Diesel! I can almost smell it from the pictures :yummy: Good job(y)
