I'll add to this that 2 plants that look close in size can use different amounts of water. I find you have to pick up all pots growing, not just one.
I have a technique for soil growing. Note its important to have strong healthy plants to do it or otherwise you will stress them. What I do is counting from the days starting from watering to the first day you notice the slight sign of drooping, what normally start at the old lower leaves. For other plans, it will be when you first notice the first sing of "preaching less". I use that number of days minus one or two days (to avoid chronic drought stress) for my watering schedule. Its been working wonders with my system for many years. You need to adjust through the plant life cycle.
