Diary PCBuds mini-grow

I was hoping to grow another plant like this...

My latest plant isn't nearly as big but hopefully, the next plant will be bigger.

I've got Candy Cane autoflower feminized ready to grow next.

I'm going to plant the sprout right in the cooler and grow it out from there.

I won't have to worry about light leaks or transplanting so hopefully I can grow another four-foot plant.
I think I've got the SIP method figured out so I'm hopeful about my next plant.

I will finally get to try another flavor.

Word of advice, dont plant directly on top of the old root system. The new plant roots will get stuck and it may flower into an ugly tiny beast like this.

I won't be doing that again. Lol

It didn't work out for me last time.
I was experimenting with some sort of "no-till".

Actually, that's the sprout that grew into the plant that's in my closet now.

The picture is dated Dec. 3rd, 2019.
My plant is over 4 months old. Lol

Slower than molasses in winter time, as my grade 8 teacher would say. Lol

The bulbs *inside* the plant! What a sight

Yeah, it worked pretty well!

It was only the bases that got too hot for the plant and some leaves died.

That's why I put the globeless SIL in the dry pot leaves.
I wanted to see how close to burning things would get.

My seedling was looking pretty shitty.

I thought maybe light bleaching, .. then thought she's starving so more nutes, ... then thought her roots are drowning, so she's pulling from her leaves...

So I transplanted her, ... Again. Lol

I removed about 2/3 of the soggy soil and filled her up with perlite and dry coco coir.

I put nute solution in the bottom to keep the wick wet.

I think she definitely had root issue. Looks allready happier after transplant. One notice: If transplanted anyway, I would have change to a bigger pot. If she bounces back, and continues growing, she gonna need bigger pot soon.

The clone looks pretty good, but I guess roots are going to stuck allready. I would transplant her to bigger pot tomorrow. Do you remove the alu-foil sometimes, and look at the roots? For me its a little wonder, she feels stil so good in so small pot. I'm not able to keep such a relatively big plant so healthy in such small pot.

I think I've got a pretty healthy SIP thing going on for the clone.

And I just need to LST the roots of the seedling to harden her off.
(I like to make shit up. Lol)

I think I've got a semi-hydro thing happening ?

I don't want them to get too big.
A smaller container might keep her small..??

You got me thinking...

I do have a couple of kitty litter containers that I could make a bigger SIP container with...

My seedling appears to be standing up a bit straighter.

Things aren't looking too bad...

So, this is what I came up with...

About two inches of rinsed perlite...
(and a shoelace)

Then a whole bunch of coco coir mixed in...

Then the plant...

Then 1 1/2" of nute solution...

We'll see how it goes...

looks like you've got some root rot starting.. that browning on the roots is not a good thing.

The gooey part was actually in the water.

The roots above the waterline were looking normal.

All those roots got ripped off getting her out if the container and transplanted.

I hope you removed all discolored (brownish) parts of the roots while transplant.

Anyway, if you keep up this sip innovation, I think you should use h2o2 and something effective against pythium regularly. Keeping the medium fully wet all the time is inviting pythium. Maybe this was the reason of thoose many nanners on the older plant. (I know, it was not the same construction, but very wet medium is common)

Maybe you should enhance your innovation with air pump to keep the sip water oxygenized, so it could be a semi-DWC with less chance of root rot.

I do have some hydrogen peroxide that I can use but I don't want to bother with a bubbler.

One or both of the plants are going to end up outside where they will probably get stolen sometime after September so I don't want to put any real effort into them.

The plant got quite heavy so I set her on some spacers with the wicks in the water.
She is well established so we'll see if she goes all droopy or not.

Standing water exposed to air and light isn't generally a good thing. Definitely reconsider a bubbler if you are going this route, but if not, at least some H2O2. If you are going for any sort of living soil however, the H2O2 will kill the soil microbes. I'd say you're safer to stick with the traditional "hempy" method.
