She's all flaked out now after a day with lots of light.
I'm not going to worry about it as long as she perks back up when the lights come on.

These pictures show her color more accurately.
The lights make her look pale and yellow.

I've got some action in the closet.
She's just about to pop above the surface.

I've managed to leave her alone and not dig her up for pictures. lol

The surface of the soil was looking quite dry, so I sprayed it with some water.

My Agar powder arrived...
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it?
I might add something to the window sill, or wait until the window plant is done ??

Give her a mist. I heard they like that. Rain, and dew. Ha ha.
Sadly the rain didn't reach the ground this time, dewwwwww. :D

Yeah, that's simple enough to do.

It can't hurt, and I don't think that the plant will become dependent on it.

I just lifted the lights up and sprayed it...

My window plant is sleeping again.
She didn't fade until after the lights went off, so I'm not worried about her.

My new baby in the closet is looking good...

I'm hoping to get a pound out of this plant.
I'm pretty sure that if I keep the PH in check then I should be able to pull it off.

So far the PH is fine at 6.0 but I haven't fed any water through the soil yet. I added some to the reservoir, but I won't be watering her from the top until she has two full sets of leaves.

She is also starting off in about a liter of seedling starting mix which is 70% peat and is also PH adjusted, so any PH problems shouldn't start until after her roots get into the reused soil underneath.

I modified my humidome for the closet.
All the domes cost me $23.50 but I got 4 cakes out of the deal.
I hope I don't need another dome,.. I've had enough cake for a while. lol

I checked my lux readings and it was a little high for a baby...

IMG_20220128_140153.jpg

I turned the lights down a bit to get it to about 8800 lux.

IMG_20220128_140622.jpg

Now to wait and see what kind of temperature and RH I get in the dome.

The lights are on 24/7 now to keep the environment more stable.

It's 2 hours before the lights come on and my window plant is already getting ready for more sunshine 🌞.

The lights come on at 4:30pm and shut off at 8am.

Play around. I think I made my mix too dense. Its been a few days now and none of the seeds have popped. Do you have bagseed to play with?

I don't have any seeds to play with, so I'm going to start with just mixing up a few small batches of gel and see how they turn out.

It would be cool to start a seed in a small square of gell then put it in another bigger cube of gell and let the roots grow into it...

You could have water between the two cubes to feed nutrients and oxygen to the roots.

The whole thing could be in a big transparent container.

I emptied and refilled the reservoir to wash out the coco coir dust so that I can see the roots better. Lol

I used Maxibloom, Calmag, KoolBloom, and Potassium Silicate at full strength.

I may get PH issues in my media but I'm going to ignore that and just keep an eye on the reservoirs' PH and PPM.

I figure that as long as the roots that reach the reservoir get the proper PH, then the plant should be fine.

Seem to be putting together a good case for VPD/RH. It's strange how little we saw this with HIDs. It has to be related to the IR. I have looked and looked, and IR research hasn't got past the fact it's heat, so would cause more moisture loss. No physiological effects that I can find proof of. However, I suspect the IR wakes the plant up to the idea there will be moisture loss, with the effect being to close the stomata somewhat. Regulating moisture loss. I would be interested in pulling that dome off while it's looking good, but in the presence of some IR and a stopwatch. Just to see if IR does delay or even stop the droop. An r50 perhaps.

I think with LED, the required water movement can meet demand as the RH drops, until the point where the roots say no, as it's just too saline to be pulling up that much. It long been known that low RH needs low EC in order to see the plant getting no extra food as it's water demand increases.

My thoughts often return to calcium and it's relationship to water uptake. Calcium antagonises Potassium. Low potassium often shows as lower leaf moisture content, and I think the curling back under, not just drooping. I really shouldn't be making up such holistic theories though. I have not been near a horticultural college.
