I dug out some soil and mixed up some seedling starting mix with about 50% perlite.

My seed has cracked...
I will plant her soon.
I'll do it properly this time and plant it about 2cm deep and leave it alone.

My closet is almost ready.
I installed 4 more 5000k strips. I just need to wire them up.

So now I have 40 one foot strips and 4 two foot strips for a total equivalent of 48 strips.

I glued a hygrometer to the inside of the dome...

I took the dome off of the window plant to take pictures.
It fits the closet dome pretty good !!

So now I just have to buy two more cakes. Lol

Here we go again :lurk:

Yeah, I had a bit of a false start but I only lost one seed and a few days, and that gave me time to put more strips in the closet and prepare my planter better.

The numbers look good...

If you raised household RH, would it just piss down the windows?
I have a big humidifier I don't really want. Holds 10L and can do it in a day. Postage might be a bit silly, but I really don't want it.

I can get one for $50 or even cheaper for something used, but I don't want one.
My windows do sweat even with my low humidity and my cat and I don't mind the RH except in the summer.
I had a dehumidifier but I gave it away because I didn't want to bother with it either.

The humidome is working fine and I intend on removing it as soon as she hits the top of it.

I've grown a bunch of plants in the winter and they turned out fine.

I might try to make a bigger dome for the closet so that the plant can get big enough to make her own humidity.

It's just in the infancy that I want to have an optimum environment.

The RH goes right up to 99% when the lights are off, but the numbers look good when the lights are on...

I decided to remove the dome from the window plant...

Now I can watch the plant as she gets used to life without the dome.
I don't think she's going to show much change?
I think that she will just keep growing normally and I won't even notice a difference.
She'll probably start drinking like crazy though?

I decided to remove the plant from the reservoir and put more holes into the planter to let the roots get out and let air get in.

I found more roots...

I melted holes through with my soldering iron.
It was really quick and easy.
I was worried about gunking up my soldering iron with melted plastic, but it all just wiped off easily.
It did stink up my house but that's not a big deal.

I raised the lights and screwed in a 16 Watt 1500 lumen 5000k Walmart LED bulb.

Really low humidity and 16°C with the lights off.

A pair of sick leaves at the bottom of the plant.

I know that this is considered a recipe for a dead plant, but I intend to grow a monster on my window sill.
I may have to use a machete to get to my stove in the future. 😄
