I'm going to call this spider Venomous... Lol

Now I just need to build him a nice quiet home.

I don't know much about biology, but I've noticed that daddy long legs don't spin webs.

I think they go out hunting?

That's perfect.
The bugs don't have to get caught in her web, she goes out and hunts the bugs..??

I don't know how to tell them apart.
It could be a 👦 or 👧 🕷 ?? Lol

Here's what I found about them:

"Daddy long-legs, Pholcus phalangioides, are cosmopolitan spiders and are probably the best known spiders world wide. They are almost always associated with human dwellings, famous for their small, dainty bodies with long legs up to 50mm in length.

These spiders are often found in the house or shed with their thin, tangled webs behind doors or attached to ceilings and upper walls in the corners of rooms. The non-sticky web of the daddy long-legs is really just a retreat for the spider and not designed to catch prey. The moment an insect ventures within striking range of the spider it will race out, bite and tangle up its prey until the struggle quickly ceases.

These spiders are harmless but, quite incorrectly, renowned for being deadly poisonous. Although their venom is quite toxic, their tiny fangs are incapable of penetrating human skin and the venom glands hold so little poison that it renders this distinction as merely mythical."

No need to build it a home - it should sort that out in a quiet corner of its own accord. And then it will hunt ;)

I wonder if there is a corner in the closet that's quiet enough for him.
There's a lot of wind and light in there.

Maybe he can go above the ceiling lights. There's about 4" of space above the lights.

I think I'll just set him on top of the planter and see what he does.

I managed to get the spider into the closet and put him on top of the planter, but he quickly ran away.

He went down beside the planter somewhere and I lost sight of him.

Hopefully he finds a place that he likes to take up residence.

He may end up underneath the table? I wonder if he can hunt effectively from under the table?

I found him. He's running around the outside of the planter.

The plant seems to be slowing down her vertical growth.
She's only a couple of mm taller today.

I dont think there's much you can do to encourage spiders, other than just letting them do their thing by keeping some quiet spaces untouched for the duration of a grow. I've just cleaned and repainted my grow-room, so and havent seen Raymundo for a while :*( But... they will come, in time, so long as there is a way in & you dont hassle them. If your grow is totally sealed apart from the fans, etc (which I guess a filtered??) then you might need to introduce them, but no guarantee they would survive/thrive in there unless there was something for them to eat. I take the super lazy approach and just let them be. I remember once I had a fungus gnat problem and this little dude in the top corner was chowing through dozens of them. Until I started using nematodes... then no more gnats.

Also dude am loving the close up baby plant shots. So frikkn cute.

He's playing pop goes the weasel with them critters, chowing as they pop out the holes.

I guess, but I'm worried that there might not be enough food for him or my soil mites?

They both may need something to eat?

I wish I had fungus gnats. Lol

With winter coming, there is a lot less bugs in the house.

The top of my closet is open as an exhaust output.
The closet isn't light proof so convection will take over if I ever have a fan failure.

I'm wondering if there will be enough food for him but bugs can fly in the top of the closet and may be attracted to the light shining out.

Thanks 😊
I like the baby pictures.
They grow up so fast. Lol

You can see the changes daily.

The plant was leaning a bit from the breeze blowing on it, so I rotated the planter around and the plant fell over.

So I piled soil up beside the stalk to stabilize it. I removed the measuring stick too.

She's not even getting 5000 lux from the ceiling lights.

And less than 2000 lux from the sides...

So I turned on the side lights...

Looking good so far. But I keep wondering myself how do you have such patience to grow just one plant and do so much/spend so much time for it. I'd go crazy, man. Congrats.. I guess! :joint:

I piled almost an inch of soil up against the stalk after it fell over, and I didn't think the measurement was relevant anymore.
