I aimed the fan down a bit to give the plant a bit of a breeze.

I'm not sure it will work, 'cause they say a plant can take max of two freezings before giving it up. Although I had two ice storms, snow and few good freezes over my sativa hybrids in '06/'07 winter and still finished up well and all. Taste was incredible! It's unbeliable how the freezing cold improves the bud taste. Not to mention the purpled by cold one - my favoured.
They were hanging with the top on the ground under the icicles and snow, yet made it 'till the end.
But they also said that a plant will change hormones in flower on it's entire body, yet Scrog Monster proved otherwise. Grafting or no grafting was the same body. Inspirational.
I will try maybe next year to see how much I can strech this root insulating thing, hopefuly it'll be some Christmas (PC)Bud.

I found a small flying bug in my closet today.
It looked like a fruit fly but was a bit bigger.

I wonder if it was a fungus gnat?
(I just squished it. I should have tried to catch it and look at it)

I'm not going to worry about it.
I'm pretty sure that my soil is protected.

I'll hang a new sticky trap up and see if I catch anything.

Fungus gnats I've seen are a little smaller than fruit flies - skinnier. Hopefully nothing...

Actually, I think think you're right.
The bug I found was quite large.

I've had fungas gnats before and thought that they were fruit flies.
I posted a picture of one and exploziv verified that they were Fungus gnats.
They've got sort of a horn on their head a bit like a mosquito stinger.

They got into my window plants because I forgot to treat the soil with soil mites.
The plants were well established, so the bugs didn't harm the plants too much.
My closet plant never got infected, but I'm pretty sure that they found their way into the closet.

This is a sticky trap that I've had hanging in my closet for at least 6 months. Its got real collection of bugs.

^^^ I think that last picture is a fungus gnat ?, but it could have been there for 6 months or more.

I'll see if I catch another one and check to see what it is.
I kinda forget what the fungas gnats look like.

There's some pictures in my thread somewhere, but I have a hard time searching my thread.

She's 7.5 cm tall today.
She's getting nice and tall but she still seems quite sturdy, so I'm not worried about her falling over.

She's looking happy and healthy and has her second set of leaves starting.

Fruit flies may be attracted indoors. They like rotting stuff to set down on. They don't bite, so I don't mind them. Make nice pets, flying in your face to say hello while your browsing ICMag. If I get any insects I put them in with my plants so they have a more enjoyable time. Obviously; flies only have a limited life span, and may be at the dying stage when they come indoors looking for a place to hide from the less warm months. Spiders like crawling around on the sticky buds, and they can eat; spider mites and things that get in the water tank. They never come upstairs. But I get pissed off with so many of them. Spiders rule this area of water tank.... plugging them with their harsh laws and weaponry to increase the burning of sustainable wood and palm oil for power stations... Tee.

I had a billion fruit flies infest my house a few years ago.
They got into my kitchen waste and multiplied.
I learned that if you wet your hands, you can grab them out of the air, then I realized that a vacuum works great and I was sucking up 100 a day and it just took a few minutes.
(it doesn't work too good for house flies or mosquitoes though. They are much better fliers. Lol)

I don't put bugs in my closet on purpose, but I don't care if they find their way in.
I'm 90% sure that my soil mites will eat anything that gets into the soil.

I did learn that lady bugs 🐞 eat spider mites and aphids and other nasties, so I put them in my closet for good luck if I find any.

I don't like house flies because they find their way into my kitchen garbage can and my garbage ends up crawling with maggots.

I had maggots in my garbage every week for more than a month and had to take my garbage can outside and hose it down weekly.
They finally subsided a few weeks ago as the weather changed to autumn.

I love spiders 🕷. I did a project on them in grade 8 and brought all kinds of specimens in to class to show everyone.
I think they get a bad rap and everybody kills them if they aren't too afraid of them.
I usually just leave them be, but if I do get rid of them I pick them up and release them outside. I won't kill them.

I do wonder if any bugs, spiders included, can get stuck to the trichomes on my plant?
I've had cat furr and dust get really stuck to my plant, and I don't want bugs stuck to my buds.

I don't want to have a sterile grow media. I think that you are just giving some nasty bug a perfect environment to infest. I think it's almost impossible to keep everything out of your grow area.

I remember one guy that got spider mites and ended up having to sterilize his entire house with bleach two times.
He had to take a shower and put on sterile clothes every time he went into his grow area afterwards.

I wouldn't bother growing if I had to go through all that, and it makes me wonder how a plant can possibly survive outdoors with everything it has to deal with.

There is something to be said about a natural environment.

Probably because that natural environment is full of predators looking for their next meal...

That makes sense. There's a natural balance going on.

I've got predatory soil mites to protect my soil so maybe I should get a spider to protect the canopy?

Maybe I should get something cool 😎 like a Black Widow?

That would be awesome. Lol

Apparently they eat spider mites!!

I'm going to leave him be for now while I try to make a nice home for him in the closet.

They like to hang upside-down and take shelter so maybe I can wait until my plant has some fan leaves and see if he wants live hanging under the plant?
Or, maybe I can build him a home?

How do you build a home for a Daddy Long Leg spider?
Lol

Yeah, looks like it. They have those long antennas. Little shits. I use nematodes on em.

I have one in my growroom called Raymundo. Exactly the same (long-leg) type. He's kinda shy, just likes to be left to do his thing in a quiet corner.

I think that I did a similar thing when I had my roots submerged and exposed to the light?

The plant is supposed to produce "auxins" or something when the roots see light or get submerged and the roots die (unless you pump in oxygen or something?), but my submerged roots looked happy and healthy for the most part. (until they got covered in algae and I broke a bunch of them. lol)

The roots above the water line were really fuzzy and the submerged roots were thicker and fewer.

They all looked healthy.

I found this about daddy long legs...

wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==

I'm going to call this spider Venomous... Lol

Now I just need to build him a nice quiet home.

I don't know much about biology, but I've noticed that daddy long legs don't spin webs.

I think they go out hunting?

That's perfect.
The bugs don't have to get caught in her web, she goes out and hunts the bugs..??

I don't know how to tell them apart.
It could be a 👦 or 👧 🕷 ?? Lol
