This is a pretty cool life hack....
You can dilute regular silicone with camp fuel (naphtha) so that you can spread it with a paint brush or roller.
My tent is now waterproof.
You can buy silicone spray in a can, but it's about $12 a can, doesn't work worth a crap, and you have to do it every year.
It would probably take 3 cans a year to waterproof my tent.
My diluted silicone cost $5 for a tube of silicone, and the camp fuel was maybe another $5 worth.
My tent is now completely waterproof and will stay that way for at least 7 years, maybe a lifetime ??
