Nicely done, g-m! Are you going to put a pump right in the tub? I'm hand watering my mini-PPK's from the top once per day. With coco + perlite (3 parts/ 1 part) I found that the coco never dries out completely on top in my 3.5" pots. I'm experimenting with combinations of turface/ coco/ perlite/ rice hulls/ EWC to get a fast draining mix.

The rig is now at home in the room where it all happens.
I had planned to add water manually, but realized I need only tee off the line running to the control bucket in my tent and add a float valve.
For some reason I was thinking I would need another volume reservoir to automate this.

Some very creative stuff here. You guys growing in small spaces are like magicians.

I'm moving into a 30 x 40 ft room with 16 ft ceilings right now. 48 plant positions.

I am going to try unit grows for a while.

This is going to allow me to grow all plants on one level for the first time meaning that i can use one reservoir and one pump with one timer.

It's going to allow me to see what happens to the solution over the lifetime of a large group of plants being raised together.

Growing perpetual style forces compromises, but is great for financial stability if you do not have your growing down and still lose a plant or two. it is also a fast track for experimenters.

Since this project started in sept 09 I have not lost a plant.

I should have more control of the nutrient solution and lighting. I think this is going to drive up yield.

Also I want to be able to schedule some time off for a little vacation once in a while.

Everything is being built portable, nestable, stackable with all components going into a standard 150 size van in one trip.

Between grows the system can be easily disconnected, torn apart, cleaned, loaded in the van and stored off premises for about thirty dollars a month.

Well, back to the mine for another day. Yo ho heave ho! It's my meat, massuh!

Here is the beginning of my next effort: 4 x Rez's SSSDH, from clone. Seeds popped sept 7, 2011. Last effort produced 12z from 2 and 6z from a third, and 6z from F-13, dry. My environment is better than then, expecting more. Jacks+CN@600PPMs. Scrogging them, same as last time. Tent is 4'.9" x4'.9" x 6'.9", 2x600w, neked. Not much to do untill 75-85 days from tomorrow (12/12). Take care of new cuttings will be the focus of my efforts, til then.. Adding to the boredom is the, other side of the coin> I dont read as much as I used to; particularly those 'nutrient' threads, good or badd. I have the gold ring. <going into my sig! I thought of starting my own thread but I have mixed emotions about 'going public' with all the good stuff that is here. I'll keep it here with those that are in it.

A short report on my last run with modified PPK setup. I built the top water system but decided to use the solar powered 12 volt pump on some outdoor plants, so I never installed it with my wick system. I changed my level of ferts to 3/4 teaspoon each part per gallon at the 4th week of flower. I also ran ten plants this time because I could only veg the cuttings for 2 weeks after roots appeared. I had a vacation planned and they had to be finished by last week. I also ran the lights 10/14. After the 4th week I added a mixture of 1 tablespoon of Maxicrop seaweed and 2 teaspoons of molasses per gallon top fed by hand at around 32 ounces per container once a week. Eight of the plants were in 4 pots also and there was no ill effect that I could see. There is still room for improvement, I can set up the top feed and I will make a bigger air gap next run. I will also veg em for 3 weeks after I see roots next time and run 6 plants. I used a float valve used for water troughs and it was a bit tall in my trays so air gap was around 2 inches which to me is an inch too close. All in all this thread has raised my ability and yield to a level I never thought possible. And do it without that much of my time directly involved. I topped off the 27 gallon reservoir 1 time! Summer is upon us so it's over for me till fall. I guess while It's all taken down I can improve my setup while the space is empty to make it even easier to run. Set up a vertical light mover,top feed, Paint the walls and put in a better extraction fan. Who makes a good float valve?
