First thoughts-Panama

First thoughts-Panama

Hi,

Yesterday I started the curing process with the panama and
I can not resist to taste a few green-fresh joints,
it`s too early but I share here what I found, the buds are covered with little trichomes, but It`s full of them :), I planted this because I love citrus sativas, but right now the smell of citrus is there but a little only, the smell is very potent and intense like a high quality ganja,I smoked in Amsterdam about 6 moths ago some good buds pineapple haze, blueberry from boerejongens coffe shop but when I smoked it, It`s totally different in smell and taste is very soft and dense, oh man I never smoked-taste an old school weed like this, at the moment that are my thoughts, I will come back when it have being a good cure, but right now like I said above, this sativa is a truly old school in flavours and it has a high amount of buds, very happy, surprised by the flavours and smell that I am sure in 3 months will be better :dance013:

Thanks to ace for his awesome work :tiphat:

I forget to speak about the effects, It`s very clear-clean, right now a little soft, but you feel the eyes sting a bit and you have a little trippy thoughts with a easy laugh,
Oh, when I clean the buds my hand was full of resin, I did two little black balls that are curing about 4-5 joints that looks like bubble hash this is a plus for sure

Cheers and I recommend everybody this plant

And my biggest yeilding panama with a nice lemon incent scent.

So far they have better mold resistance then their tikal neighbor.

Hi,

I have a question the panama was drying for 2 weeks,
I must put out from the drying place because I need it
for another plant that can not being outside because the weather ,
I have it in a carton box and everyday I open it
I made holes

For what I looked, there are some quite dry/light branches,
while I have one arm very green and the rest in the middle,
the branches dont crunch, they bend with a little creak

When is the better moment to put inside the hermetic bottles?,
I read that you need 2 weeks in the box after the dry period and then
is when you put the goods in the hermetic bottles, but I am afraid
that dry too much because I have it inside of a room with good temp and humidity

Any help is very much welcome, thanks

did you made a wet trimming ( cutting the leaves right after you chopped them) or did you hang them with the leaves?
What was the temperature and the humidity when you hang them for drying? Did you hang the hole plant? DId you put the whole plant in the carton? I can tell you what I did and what is most common: I do wet trimmig ( question of choice and circumstances), seperate the whole plants in several single stems, hang them cold (10-15 degrees max) and dark with low humidity 20-40%( dehumidifer and ventilation is recomended)
After 5-10 days you cut the nuggs from the stems to put them in plasticboxes or even better in big jars INCLUDING A SMALL CONTROLER FOR CHECKING THE HUMIDITY IN THE BOX/JAR.
Open it twice a day for 5-15 minutes to avoid mold.
U can seel them for curing, when the humidity is near 55% stable for 2 or three days in the jars. NO PAPER BAGS AND NO CARTONS!
The jars/boxes bring out the moisture from inside the weed.
Cheers mate

Since you need room I would just throw them in paper bags about 2/3 full and fold the top. Easyest, cheapest way to dry evenly.

Hi elhecho,

I'm glad you have enjoyed so much your first samples of your homegrown Panama :)
Thanks for your positive feedback.

Sounds like your harvested Panamas are not well dried yet (the stems still bend, without breaking), let them dry outside the box for 2 weeks more in a dry dark and well ventilated room, and only place them inside the hermetic jars when is fully dried to avoid any mold problem.

Personally, i like to dry the fresh harvest for at least 2-3 weeks (depending on the temps and moisture), then cure a bit the dried manicured flowers and put them inside wine wood boxes for 4-6 weeks more, and finally place them in hermetic jars when i'm starting to like the moment of curing.

It's sometimes difficult to find place to dry all the harvest correctly, but this is always a good sign ;)

Hope it helps.

Hi, Dubi

Thanks for your fast reply, the panama was 2 week drying, yesterday I did
the cure and put inside of the hermetic jars, I already get wooden wine boxes
where I will put inside the buds, I will do it like you 4-6 weeks in wooden and then put inside jars.

Thank you and all the best
the hermetic jars

I searched for fungi and another things, but they had a very nice look and smell,
anyway I already change it to wooden wine boxes, :)

One question about amount of harvest I had it in 7 litres, this is half the harvest
because the another part is with my buddy, the land owner, how much is more or less
in grams?, the jars were full and a little compressed, just curious, I know it depends on many factors but ...

All the best

Thanks Thcman and valleykush, the whole plant was not hanging,
I cut all the big arms and I cut too the big leaves, two weeks, they were hanging and well ventilated all the time.

I decided yesterday to do the cure because they were quite dry outside and they were in the carton box, which I read that dry
very fast and I don`t want it, today I saw them in the jars and like
I told above they had a very good look and smell but decided to change it to wooden wine box because the advice of Dubi, the place is controlled, max temperature about 26,5º and 70% moisture,
min temperature 22,5º and 58% humidity, average temperature of 24º and humidity of 62%, any advice It`s welcome about them.

I think that is going good, I hope come back with pictures

Cheers

Thanks Thcman, yeah, this plant is like glue lol yam yam¡¡
even the stick is full of resin, the picture of hash
was only moving and cutting the branches the first day after
harvest because I need to put it in the carton box.

I can sure you that the picture don`t make justice
the hash is like it have thousand mirrows, but stiil bland
need a good cure, the same for the buds, yesterday I
introduced a higrometer inside the wooden wine box
and I can read 23º 60-63% in one of the boxes, I am doing this
in all to see what is going on, I think that is going very good,
come back with my thoughts when at least 1 month of cure,
but my first impressions is that this is AAA+ hehe, very happy
and I wish you to find the best with this great genetics :canabis:

Cheers

Panama Curing

Panama Curing

Hi

I have the measure of one wood box for one day:

Max temp=24,6ºC/Max Humidity=62%

Min temp=21,1ºc/Min Humidity=57%

Are they in good parameters for curing or is too much dry
ambient for 3 days curing?, the wooden box are inside of
the carton box, because they are more protected of dust
and dirt.

Sorry if I make too much questions but It`s my first time
and I am not sure at all...

:thank you:

High due
no need to say sorry for anything at all!!
This forum helped me in so many ways and it`s just awsome, to have fellows all over the world sharing the same hobby and thoughts, isn`t it?
BUT
The advantage here is, you can find a lot of experts and I´m just a beginner like you.
The only thing I can say is: I did it as described in this video and it went very well!
Here is a link explaining the curing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqoI4JkBZ1U
I found it very helpful to have a hygrometer IN the jars/boxes to have an overview whats going on inside and to avoid our worst enemy: MOLD
AND as I said before: many ways to Rome...to cut a long story short:
from my point of view the numbers are ok in your box as long as you open it daily twice till you reach something around 55% for 2, 3 days, than the sealed curing can start.
One more advice: you have to find out, WHO is experienced and who is not cause evreybody is telling you something..even if he doesn`t have a clue:
I found three guys who really knows their shit!
Tangwena, ThaiBliss and MadMac.
Just send one of them a message and I´m shure they will answer you in a propper way!
Nothing keeps you more satisfied than enjoying the fruits of your own hands work, doesn`t it?!!
Cheers mate and HAPPY CURING
