Douglas ... thanks for stopping by. The problem I have with that is I don’t want to sacrifice the 10-12” of height to do that, angled or not.
If you think about it, the 'head room' can be even less than a regular SIL setup. Say, 6" with the right angle and positioning of the lights.

With a budget, the solostrips should be a great option. Definitely looking forward to seeing them in action for you. :)

I am too! I’m at work now but I just got the UPS notification that they arrived Today. Looking forward to getting them installed! Not exactly sure when I’ll be able to as we are leaving out of town for a long weekend but I’ll get them slapped in there as soon as I can believe that lol

Solsheet is installed! It increased the temps about 5 degrees though which is to be expected I suppose as I was running 95 watts at 15,000 lumens on the HLG 100 QB and now I’ve got this 120 driver maxed out. They say they run about 15% over so that puts me at around 135-140watts and around 25,000 lumens. Temps jumped from 82 degrees to 87 degrees, but the way the solstrips have the diodes spread out more evenly I believe I’ll still be able to get the tops closer to the light, and if not I can always dial the light down as this driver is dimmable.

We are at day 32 of 12/12.... it will be interesting to see if she swells up more over the next few weeks from the increased light.

Week 5 12/12

She’s starting to fatten up nicely. The solsheet is installed and running at max power. Also I’ve been giving her pretty heavy doses of Neptune’s fish/seaweed.

I’m starting to get a bit of yellowing and brown spots that started at the bottom of the plant and is starting to work it’s way up the plant. This has been pretty common in ALL my grows.

I’m not sure if it’s something I should consider normal as the plants starts to finish itself off and just let it ride or if it’s something I should correct. I know the brown spots seem to be a cal/mag deficiency. So I’m not sure if I should try to correct this or consider it normal at this point in the flowering cycle.

What do you guys think?

Is this something I should try to take care of? If so... what should I do? Maybe foliar feed with some Epsom salts? I don’t have any cal mag but I could go get some if needed. I’m using RO water but when I noticed the spots appearing I did do one watering with water out of my fish tank... and we have very hard water so there should have been minerals in there. Maybe one watering isn’t sufficient, I’m not sure? Probably cal mag is the answer with RO water. I’ve always used tap water in the past but chicago tap water is horrid.

Week 6 12/12 .... i have to chop her on the 26th because we are going on vacation, so this girl only has about 11 days left to finish up. I think it’s going to be about a week early as her pistils are just barely starting to turn red now but it is what it is and I need time to dry her get her jarred and get the humidity stabilized in the cure jars.

Frosty even at six weeks. Small tester bud for potency last night was impressive.

Thanks man!

She’s looking good and fade is kicking into high gear so I broke out the loupe last night. Surprisingly, I’m already seeing some amber trichs here and there so I think I’ll give her another week and take her at 7 weeks on the dot, as I’ve got a two week vacation to Chile coming up and I’m eager to get a panama in there and do this thing right.

I just want to add a +1 to the comment about being able to put HPS bulbs closer to plants than LEDs. I've experienced this consistently, even with non-COB, lower-output budget models. With my current LED fixture, Viparspectra v600, I have to keep it 20"-24" above the top of the canopy or I see bleaching.

LEDs are awesome, of course, but it does seem like they aren't always the best option for a microgrow, unless the microgrow has a lot of vertical space.

Hush... as always thanks for the input earlier. So far the solstrips seem to be working great in place of the HLG panel. I’ll be chopping her next week and will restart with a panama female, and this time I’ll let her fill the space properly and see how these strips do 👍

Thanks Bibi! Yes it is quite stealthy, and I believe now I’ve got it all dialed in. I’m still working on the veg cabinet however, as the carbon scrubber isn’t keeping up on it. I’m going to have to come up with something else.

I did do some training on the Panamas that are vegging though, and added some blaumats too :dance013:

As soon as I chop the girl in the flowering cabinet I’ll be Cloning one of these beauties and putting her into the flowering chamber. I need to take a closer look in the next day or two to see if they are showing sex yet.

I wanted to do that, as the fish tank would work perfect as a reservoir, but that fish needs very hard water. So the water the fish needs is way to hard for the plants and the water that the plants need is way to soft for the fish

a little fish emulsion diluted in water wouldn't do any bad there, hehe... Beautiful setup.. also wouldnt use lime in that mix.

Hey Lung, care to elaborate? What’s the reasoning behind not using lime in the soil mix?

Promix already have lime, if you go easy on worm castings and use fish emulsion, again a little,i dont see a reason to add more lime, just my 2 cents :)

Sure no worries, I always appreciate hearing others opinions! Promix has a little lime, but not enough by far. It’s always recommended in all the organic soil mix recipes to still add lime at 1 cup/cu ft of soil to buffer PH and add cal and mag Too. Supposedly it’s really hard to over lime a soil mix as long as the humus portion is in tact. At least from the research I’ve done.

Like I said though I appreciate the input! This time I didn’t have home made worm castings.... it was store bought. I seem to have much better results with home made worm castings and I do have a worm bin going now. Also this is the first time I’ve used RO water.

My next run I’ll be adding 1 tsp/gal cal mag to the RO water, also I’ll be using homemade worm castings and I’ll add a top dressing of kelp right before heading into flower. From there if I’m still having issues I’ll further tweak it from there but that’s the plan as of now 👍
