protect yourself and your family or maybe another innocent person who gets caught in a bad situation...target shooting..hunting..collecting purposes...list goes on, there are definitely some people who can't handle the responsibility of a firearm, but making them illegal isn't going to make them go away...did making herb illegal stop people from smoking it?

guns in my state require no carry permit if u over 21 and a non felon.
i carry 24/7 on my side in plain view and can carry concelied if needed drugged out freaks are everwere lurking in the darkness! my wife carrys and when my children are old enough i will buy them there first gun and pay for a ccw.

and for all the anti guns people guns dont kill people, people do handeling guns my 1st firearm was given to me for x-mas @ 8 years old a 20 gauge single shot. i'm 45 in 2013 the weapon will be 100 yrs old and i still own it i own others also and have acess to many kinds of firearms.

rather get caught and not need it then caught and need it. i dont have guns near my grow. because no one knows i grow, except you guys. but i have access to a yugo ak47 and a glock 21 with 2 13 rd mag is waiting for me to go hunting for some thieves. i have access to it in a 5 min trip. i have that ak ready because im too sentimentally in love with my bushmaster ar-15. id only use that if someone really did me dirty...

I have a question for the masses as I am not sure what the general consensus is on the topic. I know there are a ton of us out there that own guns and grow. The main question is what do you gun owners do with your guns at your grow locations?

I've got a crazy extensive collection but I do not feel comfortable keeping them in my home because I'm afraid if anything were to ever happen that LEO would castrate me for having guns and weed in the same location. I know why LEO gets bent out of shape about criminals with guns, I just want to know how you gun owners overcome the problem. Personally, I spend $140 a month for a storage unit (in someone elses name) to store all my guns except for the one I carry with me.

Personally, I never take a step without a loaded pistol. From the time I get out of bed to the time I go to sleep I have a gun on me, or within arms reach. I have a permit, so I am legally entitled to carry it with me, but that all goes out the window during a bust. I'm not to worried about getting busted with only one gun carried in a legal fasion, but many people seem to think I'm nuts for even going near my grow with a firearm.

To me, the situation is a double-edged sword. Ideally, you have no guns near a grow, but in that situation you also lose all your home security. Lets face it, theft is a major problem in this business- as I've experienced before, and it is something that would be far less likely to happen if a firearm were present. By not having a gun, you are in a better position with the police if a bust were to take place. However, no gun means no protection. If someone is breaking in to your grow you can yell and scream all you want, but you can't call the police, so what do you do?

I've been robbed once, and someone tried to jump me once. The robbery I couldn't have done anything about, I was in Europe on vacation at the time (can someone say 'inside job'), but the guy who tried to jump me will think twice about ever doing that again. His little stunt cost him a couple teeth a good deal of plastic surgery (at least from what I could tell.) A Springfield XD45 is a lot harder than someones face.....

I won't leave the house without it, and I wonder if I'm the only one... I'd love to hear from you other gun owners out there.

NOTE: If you intend to flame me for whatever reason because I want to exercise my right to bear arms, please move along. I didn't start this thread to hear your opinion on what is morally right or wrong, I started it to see what others who own guns do in the same situation.

i find myself not reading through whole threads as they tend to taint my opinions, but if you have to carry a gin then i guess you have to. i am not against guns at all, what i am against is people not using a thought process when having to use one. not saying that you do this but (guns+people (absent of thought)= massive f--kups, thats IMO)

i would say have the grow somewhere else if you can, but either way separate the two, i think you have to. in the US you have the right to protect yourself, but a cannabis grower is always gonna come under scrutiny.

*guns +home= a person wanting to keep themselves and loved ones safe
*cannabis grower+home = a person wanting to medicate themselves and exercise a god given right.
*guns+cannabis grow+home= you are officially a drug dealer

now am i calling you specifically a drug dealer? NAH, not by a along shot. BUT thats what the cops,feds, and gov will call you once they catch you with all that together.

i think you would be better to keep the guns in your home (take the firing pins out) and like you did with the storage space, have your grow someplace else and in someone elses name if you can

One thing you will never see from me is this ignorant "trend" of lying all my guns around my grow to take pictures.And contrary to what they think.You make yourself look silly not tough. I agree with you 100%. Just because someone is legally entitled to own a gun, doesn't necessarily mean they are intelligent enough to use it correctly. When you mentioned the 'gangstas' I keep thinking of the pic someone posted of them with a bunch of plants and their shotgun- not too bright. I don't have my gun because of my plants, the gun came first, and it will be there when the plants are long gone. I have the gun for security, be it at my grow, my work, my car, or anywhere else I go.

I definitely understand the equation that keeps coming up though:

Guns= dangerous, but legal
Drugs= Illegal, not to dangerous
Guns + drugs = drug dealer (in the general publics eyes)
