Then, in the afternoon, I went to the city, to inquire about the health of my friend "Capi", and in the process smoke a joint in his humble backyard, observing how this year again his tomato plants exceed 3 meters in height...

A Cristal Candy and a Red Hot Cookies from Sweet Seeds, and a Super Skunk from one of the many national bulk seed banks:

The Thai A5 Haze (Asociación de Cultivadores Españoles) has already grown by @el mani , and he could comment more.
I put it this year because I read @dubi that its psychoactivity was very similar to Green Haze 19, of which I had a very excellent one a couple of seasons ago.

As for Cristal Candy (Sweet Seeds), I also grew it myself 2 seasons ago, and I leave you my impressions from then (keep in mind, regarding psychoactivity, that my point of view is almost that of a "extremist sativero", heh... If you like indicas, you will logically like it much more than I do) along with some photos. The plant germinated late (1-June) so it remained small (only 1.20 meters high) but was super productive with massive and hard buds. And also, I pruned the 4 lower nodes (8 branches):
The highlight is its strong and intense final smell/flavor: freshly dried, it was equal parts meaty (good chorizo) and sweet/fruity (kiwi with some melon). As it cured, the "chorizo" part became softer, and in the fruity part, the melon gained ground over the kiwi (i.e., the sweetness gained intensity at the expense of the citrus).
As for the psychoactivity of my CRISTAL CANDY: It is physically and mentally relaxing, but far, far from narcotic: if you have to do any mental or physical activity after smoking it, you don't feel weighed down. That relaxation is clean, without the "dirt" of many of this type of indica/sativa hybrids. Too bad, for my judgment, that it's not more mentally upbeat or bright. I would rate both its psychoactive potency and the quality of its psychoactivity, on a scale of 0 to 10 (both included), over 6'5.

Rain came in today, but its going to be pretty brief, just a couple hours thankfully. Tomorrow and the rest of the forecast has sun and after a couple days will be 80 every day, so should dry out and be be perfect ripening weather. Going for a record year even though we had to cut some of the shade plants early.

I think what happened is the shade plants, I left a little more dense plant spacing so they would yield well being smaller. The issue that came up was they ended up being more lanky and weak stemmed due to having less sun, and they are having a difficult time holding up the big heavy flowers. Need to take time to scout for stakes and do it right next time.

This recent batch of flower from the garden has great sharp terpenes, so will be fine that it was cut early. I think the watering and feeding correctly has made them more potent than last year. Yield won't be bad either!

Going to start watering less because its now autumn with short days and cooler temperatures. May have to adjust summer watering volume in the future though becuase this is the 2nd plant with root rot. I need to dig a trench I think to help that side of the garden drain water better. Also need to be careful watering not to over-water there.:smoke:

Views from last weekend, some sun and some shade. Its was very cool when the shade came in. Another reason not to over-water this time of year. Although they need to start being flushed. May water with about 75-80 gal I think is about right.

DC x BB with root rot-- pulled on the plant to give it the tug test and it broke a root, looked at it again a few minutes later and it pulled right out. Obviously was diseased because foliage wasn't standing up and leaves were yelling and turning purple fast.

Deep Chunk x Blueberry-- Couple other views of it, I like this plant. Smells mellow fruity sweet, similar to a blueberry. They all smell similar being an F1 hybrid.

This stuff is ready. Just taste tested the Deep Chunk x Blueberry that had root rot and was culled last weekend. It has a light medical indica flavor with blueberry undertones. It certainly has potency for medical needs. I have a couple big plant of this stuff too! Will make winter go smooth! :smoke:

Pipeline, the India Landrace Exchange dude mentioned in his episode of The Pot Cast that he has forest varieties in India that have branches that seek out sunlight and will move their branches around during the day to follow the sunny patches that come through the overhead canopy. Something like that might be neat to try in a partially shade spot like what you're operating.

In other news I have sworn off my previous strategy of growing tall skinny plants with all the lower branches cut off. I've been growing like that for years because of the way the sun comes into my spot over a barrier in the morning, the taller then plant is the more sun it gets, but this year I think I did it too good, a bunch of wind and rain came around the past few days and my plants in their containers can't stay standing up in it. A 7' tall plant in a 3.5 gallon container fell over and knocked it's neighbor down and and then the rest of the row went down like dominies. Then I stood them all back up and the big one went down the other way and knocked a bunch of other plants down with it. This happened a few more time and eventually I just gave up and left them lying down, I'll pic them back up tomorrow when it'll be less windy. No real damage seems to have been done other than a few kinked branches here and there, but its annoying and I give up. Next year I'm topping everything.

Yeah tall lanky plants was an issue in the shady area of my garden especially, I had several small ones kink over and even some of the big ones were arched so bad the leaves started almost wilting and wouldn't stand up because the plant was so disturbed over a period of time.

Careful with topping because that creates a weak point where they branch which can snap in the wind, I think untopped is better, but maybe you could do some sort of training to promote branching, but continue to have a central leader stalk to make it stronger in the wind.

Iranian Semi Auto x OHzS1
love those bushes... still little late but if next 4 weeks are great... they will finish fine...
they doing much better as many commercial strains here in the colder and wet north...
some are 4 meter and next year goal is around 5 meter... if legalisation becomes real...
and we can grow max 3 plants... than we need this :)
but have some new strains coming ... some great auto's and better semi auto flowering landrace...
Crimea and Kaskstahn are full sativa dom and crossing them with OHz and than select the first flowering and most potent and do the S1's for next season... we need resistant strains here in the north that finish end september or better in certain time like 12 - 14 weeks from seed to finish... those got sprout on 1 mai this year... so 5 month now... had other pheno's that finished 15 september but much smaller plant ...

[Verse 1]
The preacher man says it's the end of time
And the Mississippi River, she's a-goin' dry
The interest is up and the stock market's down
And you only get mugged if you go downtown

[Verse 2]
I live back in the woods, you see
My woman and the kids and the dogs and me
I got a shotgun, a rifle and a 4-wheel drive
And a country boy can survive, country folks can survive

[Verse 3]
I can plow a field all day long
I can catch catfish from dusk 'til dawn
We make our own whiskey and our own smoke too
Ain't too many things these old boys can't do
We grow good ol' tomatoes and homemade wine
And a country boy can survive, country folks can survive

[Chorus]
Because you can't starve us out and you can't make us run
'Cause we're them old boys raised on shotguns
We say grace, and we say ma'am
If you ain't into that, we don't give a damn

[Verse 4]
We came from the West Virginia coal mines
And the Rocky Mountains and the western skies
And we can skin a buck, we can run a trotline
And a country boy can survive, country folks can survive

[Verse 5]
I had a good friend in New York City
He never called me by my name, just "Hillbilly"
My grandpa taught me how to live off the land
And his taught him to be a businessman
He used to send me pictures of the Broadway nights
And I'd send him some homemade wine
But he was killed by a man with a switchblade knife
For 43 dollars, my friend lost his life
I'd love to spit some Beech-Nut in that dude's eyes
Then shoot him with my old .45
'Cause a country boy can survive, country folks can survive

[Chorus]
'Cause you can't starve us out and you can't make us run
'Cause we're them old boys raised on shotguns
We say grace, and we say ma'am
If you ain't into that, we don't give a damn

[Verse 6]
We're from north California and south Alabam'
And little towns all around this land
And we can skin a buck, and run a trotline
And a country boy can survive, country folks can survive

[Outro]
A country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

Amazing garden, Chunky Pigs! Glad it worked out after the flood! Those are some choice cultivars, and the garden is very productive! Thanks for the great views!
