Lrus007--Did you get some rain on them or is it just residual soil moisture? Looking great! With enough sunlight, the plant can send roots to find water.

Energy Turtle--Thanks, so you reuse them each year, and also replant with clones after harvest for a 2nd crop September to November? Love your basic methods. Less is more sometimes. They don't seem to have any deficiencies. Maybe your native soil is fertile there, trees are doing well in it. Love to see them grow in the filtered light. :smoke:
Exactly, i get to experience them again in cooler weather and if one is sexy enough I'll keep her around a while maybe get her an apartment... 😂

Not sure if anything unusual is going on with the yellowing Cheese x Lebanese. I gave it the tug test and seems rooted well, it has a stem on it 3/4 inch diameter, which explains perhaps why its getting hungry. Put a good dose of cottonseed meal around the plant and a couple feet extra in that corner. Its right on the edge so its hard to get the fertilizer to it. The rest of the garden is pretty well fed it looks like. Will probably put on a half rate fertilization late Aug/Early Sept to continue a steady slow feed of N.

Couple night shots. Was busy this weekend. Will try to get some better views soon. They're tall though, maybe 8-9 ft on some of them! :smoke:

Hey everyone, l hope you’re all well.
Here’s the winter trial seedlings doing their thing.
The first two shots are of the (Blackdog x AOG f5) bx1’s. They’re a bit unremarkable at the moment and there’s no stand outs. Not surprising when you think about the work Schrews’ has done in full light. I thought l might find some stand out Blackdog leaners but the AOG genes seem dominant so far in this cross, anyways.
It’s a bit late to kill these off and have a look at one of the other crosses, so I’ll see what happens with these. I’m expecting them to pick up now they’re getting about four hours of light, when the sun’s actually out, so if l can find one with the stem rub and structure I’m looking for l might give him a run.
You can see a red stem marker that shows up from time to time but is becoming more apparent in the Blackdog x (Golden Tiger) bx3’s and l believe, has been passed on by one male in particular in this year’s crosses as l used three males, two green and one smaller but very purple.

The next two are of the (Blackdog x Golden Tiger) bx3’s. Believe it or not most of these were planted at the same time as the others; it goes to show that my selections are moving in the right direction for the traits I’m selecting for, such as vigour in low light conditions and stem rub. You might also notice the cotyledons starting to yellow off due to lack of water. These have only been watered on the day the seeds went in. The plants that start dying off will more than likely be culled first and then I’ll check for overwatering hardiness.
Keep the photos coming……
Cheers,
40.

What do you think? Reverend was saying most plants get started flowering about this time of year. There is a possibility they will catch up once they get started being so large. Not any stacking on some though, not sure when to draw the line and cull them to make room for the other early producers. :smoke:

Same thing happening in my patch. A few early ones tufting up, quite a few that are just getting started, quite a few that are tucking and stretching, and a few that are still vegging without a care in the world. I was checking day length today, we're still quite a bit over 14 hours here; a lot of strains trigger at 13:30. That's 10-14 days away and just enough time to finish in mid October.

According to 'Marijuana Botany' sometimes large plants will build up flowering inhibitors and trigger later than smaller ones. Not sure if this is true but I've noticed my big plants often will start to flower later than other growers in my area that grow smaller plants with similar strains. Once they do flip they go fast.

I used to worry more about finishing my plants earlier, I'm more inclined to gamble with later strains now. Frost isn't the danger for me it's mold. Dry sunny weather can be bad if frost is a threat, cloud cover will keep the temperature above freezing. It's a contradiction in my area for an El Nino year, warmer weather means wetter weather not dry.

Measured my plants for height, my Strange Brew is over 10 feet. She's so tall and upright it's hard to get a good picture.

My earliest plant to flower was one of my God Buds. This is my biggest one, has an interesting structure. I tied her back early, created a lot of long branches going straight up. Glad I did it, should improve the yield quite a bit. This one is just starting to tuft, every time I look there's more hairs.

She's been purple from the start it seems like the stalks are even more colorful now.

The critical 47 x Shishkaberry X C99 x GG#4 is starting to switch. No tufts but she's oil and smells incredible.

Got another several rounds of rain today, mostly light rain for a total of around quarter to half an inch I think, so went to check on the plot and spray with Liquid Fence Deer and Rabbit repellent again. Plants were standing fine, but it was still sunny so got to examine for flower development. Decided to cull 2 tall 7-8 foot plants as well as a 4 ft plant that were outliers and had not started flowering yet. All the other plants appear to have started stacking and most of them are flowering along at a good pace.

Had quite a gap in the garden after removing the plants, but was able to fill it in by leaning some of the other plants. Worked out well! Want to have a continuous canopy to optimize yield. Pulled over the Pine Tar Kush into the new opening, so hoping to see some good results from it, although it isn't very far along in flower due to being shaded I think.

Good airflow now! The light in there is going to make the big plants branches fruit heavy! Glad I didn't trim off the limbs on the bottom! :smoke:

The plants here are getting stress tested pretty good. Temperatures hit 108F but most of my plants are holding strong. Whatever these random heirloom seeds are, they’re some hardy plants. 6’ on average in 3 gal fabric pots…

I’m fascinated by them. They have leaves that seem interesting to me, some of them are flowering pretty hard already.

Good mix of indica and sativa in those heirloom seeds. We're in order to get that heat next week. Today was only 74 F with a night time temp in the mid 50's. Should be several days in the 90's next week. Wondering what fall will be like, because last year it did it did this and it came in several nights of early freeze.

Reverend--Love seeing those tall plants! Interesting form on the God Bud, is that BC Bud Depot? I was looking at that the other day. Must be the Purple #1 being expresed in those stems. Very upright and lots of thin branches almost like a thai plant.

Yeah I think most of these plants would finish by mid to late October, but I decided to cull a couple tall ones that weren't showing signs of stacking like other plants are. Its always a gradation, some are pretty far behind and just beginning to stack, but I think they will be close enough to schedule to produce well.

Space is limited in the garden and they are pretty dense anyway. It makes it easier at harvest when they are all on the same schedule, so that will be good for my setup.

I only recorded 99º at my place, but my plants are really taking advantage of the hot weather either way. Great timing for it too, I have a few in stretch that are shooting up like 3" a day for the past few days.

Just some small early samples.

Had to do some unfortunate flower pruning due to signs of early botrytis. Better to be proactive than reactive in this game, for sure. Slowly dried and cured, as always.

All my phenos thats in ground (skunk x powerplant) and big containers og cheese (another skunk varient) are really taking their time fattening flowers...usually they are the fastest...been an odd year growing, however, they do appear to be spending alot of energy on producing more flower sites in every node available, could be from the high kelp diet ....next feed, im gonna bump the Phosphorus a bit too givem alittle flower power. Been amending top with jobes organic bloom booster to get through the many rains.

Og cheese , taking her time but getting sites ready....
