At 40.4N I’m ready to germinate a couple of seeds for my outdoor grow but I’ve never grown in my new location. I’ve lived here three years but I’ve spent all of my outdoor grow time creating home gardens. I planted over 400 plants last year and doing about 400 more this year.

I need guidance on when to put out my young my seedlings for my mj. I put all my flowers and shrubs out after the last frost which is about May 10th in my growing zone 5b in central Ohio, US. Would it be alright for me to put out my my seedlings, after they have hardened off, in the garden mid-May here or would they try to flower too early? Not sure about my timing at all. Going to grow a mostly indica strain for height and stealth reasons.
All advice will be seriously considered and much appreciated.

Here is photo of my closet seed starting shelves for my flower gardening. Got about 400 seed cells planted.

Come on man are you serious? :ROFLMAO: Remember this thread?

This thread where you insisted on sharing your VERY strong opinions about how people shouldn't be allowed to grow racy strains, or to breed racy strains, and tried to destroy the breeder's thread with 3000 word essays, one after the other? Ignoring knowledgeable and well reasoned people's opinions, because you're offended that people would want to breed racy strains. Insisting that energizing, stimulating strains should be taken out of the genepool lmao

But then it turns out that you don't even know when you should be bringing your plants outside? How valuable do you think your opinions on breeding are for other growers, if you don't even know the most basic thing about growing?

I recently joined a cannabis forum, where you need to complete a full grow log from seed to harvest, in order to be allowed to join the main forum. I wish this was mandatory in all forums.

As for your plants -

If you have young seedlings indoors and want to bring them out into the sun, you will have to adapt them to the outdoor photoperiod of where you live, to prevent them from flowering before it's time. Assuming you have them at 18/6 h indoors, you can do 2 things:
1.- give them progressively less hours of light until they match the sunlight hours outside
2.- bring them outside, and keep a lightbulb lit for 1-2 hours a night to break their sleep cycle and prevent them from flowering. Then when you want them to flower you take away the lightbulb.

If you live at 40ºN your indica plants should start flowering naturally by early august, sativas late august/early september

EDIT - no offense ok mate? Just found this genuinely funny and ironic. Best of luck with your plants.

Oh no offense taken. I don’t have to know everything about growing mj outside, I’m an indoor grower, in a totally new growing climate for me, in order to also have an opinion about strains that can be harmful to an inexperienced user. After all, mate, let’s not beat around the bush here. We are creating drugs that have different affects. We are trying to sell these drugs to the general public as safe and affective, like any drug maker would do.
So if we are selling these drugs as medicine, which is how we are promoting it, we need to weed out the ones that frequently have very serious side effects for many people. Seems like common sense to me. I don’t see any breeders promoting their strains as for recreational use only and not intended for the general public. Almost all breeders are promoting their strains as good for medicinal reasons.
You go from saying a drug is for general, recreational use, to one intended to be used as medicine, you’ve now raised the bar very high if you want federal government approval. You better have a bunch of scientific double blind test and hundreds of millions spent on research in order to get that approval. Strategically the easier route would have been to try to get federal approval as an adult general use drug with the usual federal health warnings on the package label. Trying to get approval on the federal level for a drug as a pharmaceutical, that’s when they bring out the big guns. Pharmaceutical companies own them.
The mj community stepped in it when it went from trying to get mj approved as a fun, general use drug that is for adult recreational use to one that is for medicinal use.
If we are thinking forward to where this train is headed and where we want it go, general approval by the federal authorities who will be controlling it, we need to be thinking that way. I guarantee you federal government agencies, from who we would need to get approval for these drugs, will be looking at it that way.
You wanna stay with the, hey man let’s breed the trippiest shit we can attitude, which I agree with as an adult recreational use drug, then we need to backtrack and start promoting the drugs we are creating as adult recreational use only. It’s going to be much easier to get approval that way. Once we are in the game then we can start the long and expensive process to get approval for the medicinal benefits.
It’s a long, slow game on the federal level and we need to play the long game. Trying to get quick approval for a drug as a pharmaceutical with the federal government, who has been having a war with for you for 50 years over this drug, is not a smart move. You want quicker approval, promote it differently.
You can’t have it both ways on the federal level. States do whatever they want. We want federal approval. If we are saying that mj is medicine and we want it approved as medicine, we need to weed out the medicine with bad side effects. You want to promote it as a recreational drug, party on.

Oh don't bother with any further explanations thank you, your reasoning was perfectly clear the previous 5-6 essays where you were lecturing and talking down to this breeder who was just trying to promote his latest strain on the subforum he is paying for, and who had to ask you multiple times to please stop 😂. But I agree completely. I like coca cola and that's why I think pepsi should be banned from the soda -pool 👍

Hey everyone, l hope you’re all doing well.
Today was the day for the first pick of this Blackdog girl. I was chatting with Bradley Danks the other day and he was saying that one of his observations is that purple plants that remain green on the lowers can be very potent; his reasoning for this being, that they don’t put as much energy into anthocyanin production……it’s an interesting thought.

Finally I can move my indoor plants outdoors.

Trying to figure out how long I can use spring sun to do 12/12 style flowering.

Plants start flowering in the summer around August 7 - 1 1/2 months before the September 21 Equinox.

In spring, the equinox was March 21. So I figure I have about 1 month left for outdoor flowering.

I have 4 plants in early flowering under the 1000 watt, but I'm happy to turn off the 1000 watt metal halide and to save the electricity.

Hoping the plants will "forgive" the lack of sun on cloudy days.

I'm in southern California and run outside plants all year round. I've broke the year down to 4 harvest per year down.
Aug 1st = Take cuts for Clones or Plant seeds
Oct 15th = Harvest, Set out veg plants, Take Clones
Jan 1st = Same
March 15th= Same
June 1st = Harvest, Set out Summer veg plants.
This gives me a 10 week flower window for all 4 sets. I can push a bit further into mid June if needed but odds are it'll foxtail and start to reveg much past the first week of June here. 10 years I've pulled this gig here.

Found a couple volunteers the same age as my seedlings in the garden, thank you God! Rock and roll! On the way to some tall plants! Should be a full canopy. Going to try to not top them except just a couple that are fast growers that may shade out the rest.

Seeing some differences in the seedlings. Mine look like the Deep Chunk, which is dominant in most crosses according to breeders interviews on The Potcast with @Heavy Dayze :smoke:

Got some Kyphi V2 in the mix all 8/8 are up and healthy! :smoke:

Going to warm up this week so the seedlings should start to grow faster! Been putting them outside and taking in at night and putting in a window with lights turned on after daybreak and turned off before dark to keep them on the same photoperiod as outdoors.

Stay tuned, going to be interesting! :smoke:

Awesome, sounds like some great lines. Ive heard of Biker kush, where does that come from? Gentlemen start your engines! Time for the race to begin! :smoke:

I think I overwatered the flat yesterday, the seedlings aren't perking up as fast when I put them out on the porch. They will dry out in the next couple days and will do lighter more frequent waterings.

The Biker V1 was originally from Karma Genetics and I bought up all the remaining packs from the old seedbay when clarence was around. Taking my favorites from those seeds I selected and made F2s and last year took my favorites to F3. Those are what I call Biker V1F3 and I think out of this generation I will make a tonne of F4's for the freezer and select a few plants to make some crosses with. Gotta cycle thru a pile of plants before my June 10th date for moving things to the greenhouse and light dep for some will start right away on June 10th and then staggered into light dep thereafter. Gonna be an epic season I hope!!!

You got about 1 month left as you said. After that the plants will notice the hours of darkness keep decreasing and they will try to reveg.

I have 2 plants on my terrace for decoration (Maple Leaf x Lebanese). They are just starting the stretch and they will sleep outside for a month, then I will help them finish by light depriving them during the second half of flower.

They are quite lanky like their Lebanese dads. Not the best structure for indoor growing which is what I wanted to check out.

Maybe they are growing more stocky/compact under a LED light!?

Maybe you remember the strain from my indoor grow!? I had it first outdoor last year, it was even taller/stretchier than yours and under LED i had only one of 3 plants which was lanky, the other 2 pretty compact.

Btw, what are these plastic cages for, better carrying!?

Maybe so, I don't know. If I like the cross I will grow it indoors anyways. This is one of the 2 dads under the LEDs.

The plastic cages are shopping carts from the supermarket 😂 they are useful to bring the plants inside and also to save my back haha
