I would not suggest burn1 recipe. I know he has come a long long way from that initial mix. It is very inbalenced and has been improved upon greatly. He does not recommend that any longer.

Well, if you were around here nine years ago when Lavender Cowboy started this Organic Soil Forum, you'll remember there was pretty much nothing here. Those recipes I put here were pretty much the basics from Overgrow. That's about all we had back in the day. Many came from Mr. Soul, Vic High, Bongaloid, Lavender Cowboy and Three Little Birds. :tiphat:
Things have evolved and advanced which is fine. My intent however was to get people growing and many if not most were intimidated by organic soil. So, I tried to make it as easy as I could. You have to start somewhere.

This thread got us doing organics with a very easy start. We changed things up to, but had working base to fall back on. Its still the base of what we do, plus/minus a few changes, but would not be where we are without the knowledge gained from this thread.

Talk about foot in your mouth moments... Ouch.

No disrespect was ment by that statement. I was reading through and it is full of out dated material. Relevant and ground breaking at the time but it was a building block for much more.

I was very incorrect it thinking you were someone else. My bad. Sometimes the grass will do that to you.

The foundation that you and other have laid is priceless and everyone growing with living soil owes you a tip of the hat. I look forward to learning from a master at this craft.

Once again no disrespect ment.

Once again no disrespect meant.
And no disrespect taken.
Maybe you could start a new thread with a title of something along the lines of "Organics for Intermediates" or "Advanced Organic Soil Growing"? It's up to you.
I'll make it a STICKY and you can look after it.
Interested?

The offer is appreciated. If I only had the time. A 2 1/² year old one on the way, 8 K and a full time job leaves little time except for a drop in here and there.

My own garden thread is in the works. I can think of a few who might like the task. There are a few members here who go above and beyond to help everyone out no matter where they stand.

On top they do it with such kindness...

I hope one of them will take the offer, I would contribute as I could.

Now that I want to see and be part of :) I am def hooked on organics, and since using a watering wand and big ass barrel its now so much less labor to get the job done.

There is nothing outdated or wrong with the information in this thread. Still plenty of people that have ZERO desire to mix a soil with 20 different things in it or keep 50# bags of all the various things stashed in their house...

People still follow the information in this thread with GREAT success. It's not just a starting place, it's a simple, basic, approach that allow those looking to get into organics a perfect alternative for time tested success without all the non-senses that comes with more "advanced" methodologies, which more often than not border on religious fanaticism and absurd projections of morality and lofty ideological behaviors as it pertains to the usage of whatever amendment should be demonized this month as if some how you are changing the world with the purity of your soil.

Love the Organics for Beginners thread. I link to it in my own sticky about soils for a reason. It's perfectly relevant. It's called a beginners thread for a reason. It's literally in the title.

I've yet to see an advanced thread not get invaded by zealots looking to prove their ways are better rather than simply just sharing information. I'll not be participating in anything that puts me on a elevated platform as being "advanced". I'll always be a beginner. Always more to learn with that mindset.

Frank, well said and very true. Sometimes I need to humble myself and see the whole picture. A lotus flower has many stages of unfurling and we are all at our oun place.

I still think Dolomite lime has no use in agriculture. Base solely on reactivity tests and is high Mg value. I am not alone in that thinking and goes beyond the "organic. Zelots".

Keeping it simple is the best way.

Frank to the Dank dropping the hammer and B1 back from the abyss (real life).

Glad to hear there wasn't another woman.

I'ma roll up some nice hash to celebrate. I was going to do that anyway, but now with added gusto.

What a great fuckin' day.

Who's the first up against the wall? I have guns for everyone and lodge my vote for Astera's cult. There's plenty of room at the wall and bullets a plenty, don't be shy with the suggestions.

The Instagram dab/toke video posters aren't worth a bullet each, I propose it to be more economical to drown them like kittens/gingers, re: all at once in a burlap sac.

We will wash their sins clean and fertilize our fields with a great river of blood. The rivers will feed the dead to the oceans for weeks to come.

Fun will be had by all.
