a little bit of some hot peppers would add to that mix well BBc got to let it sit overnight though. also i spray early morning(before lights go on)/late afternoon( 30 mins before they go off) before the lights go on. most bugs are highly active and easy to spot during this time. and you wont have to worry about the burn spots from the liquids and the sun/light.

Interesting worm facts and fallacies

Earthworms are close relatives of the Leeches (together they make up the Class Euclitellata). The characteristic they both share, the clitellum, is a band of thickened skin around the midriff that secretes a cocoon.

There are approximately 3000 known species of earthworms in the world.

Worms do not cross breed to produce hybrid species.

Worms are hermaphrodites meaning each worm has both female and male reproductive organs. Hence all worms produce eggs and sperm.

You cannot chop a worm in half to create two new worms, although a worm can survive if it loses a small portion of its tail. Interestingly some aquatic relatives of the Earthworms do divide in two as a way of reproducing.

A capsule is a worm cocoon that can contain anything from 1 to 22 baby worms, although on average 4 worms are produced per capsule. Capsules take up to 5 weeks to hatch. Hatching time depends on the temperature of the surrounding bedding material. They can also lay dormant until their environment is ideal.

Fertilisation (where the sperm enters the egg) actually occurs externally, inside the capsule. As the capsule, which is secreted by the clitellum, slips off it collects eggs and deposited sperm.

Worms reach reproductive maturity in 2-3 months.

Compost worms breed every 7-10 days and so the population in a wormery can double in 2-3 months.

Worms have no eyes but can sense vibrations, light and temperature through special organs in their skin.

Blue worm

Perionyx excavatus, aka: Blue worm, India blue worm, Malaysian blue worm, Travelling worm.

Origin: Perionyx excavatus is found over a large area of tropical Asia, including India, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Australia. It is also found in parts of South America, in Puerto Rico, and in the southern areas of the US, (south of the Mason Dixon Line and in the Gulf Coastal region)

Description: P. excavatus is a small worm 30 to 70mm long (1 ¼” to 2 ¾”). Its front part is a deep purple/red-purple (mouth end) changing to a dark red/ brown at the tail-end with a cream under belly, they have a creamy coloured unraised clitellum and a tendency to thrust their bodies about when exposed
It has an iridescent, blue-violet sheen on its skin that is visible in bright light. The clitellum on a mature blue worm begins approx. 12 segments from its mouth and covers 6 segments.

Environment: The blue worm is adapted to the tropics & subtropics, tolerating a temp range of 45 to 90 deg F, although 70 to 80 deg F may be best for its growth. It is very efficient in consuming organic waste in vermiculture systems.

Life Cycle: Growth stages are cocoon, immature worm, and adult. There are several fertilized eggs in a cocoon which hatch in 2 – 3 wks under suitable conditions. Under favourable conditions, the blue worm may each produce about 20 offspring per week, which in turn will take about 3 – 5 weeks to reach sexual maturity.

(The Tiger & Red worm next)

Buahahahahaha, mind if I use the prison line?

I also talk about my hatchet collection. How I got interested, tell him the story about how I can circumsize a gnat at 30 feet...or the leaving of the ball bat in the corner of the entryway.

Give them teh "you won't like me when I am angry...".

But alas, you can only shovel shit against the tide for so long before it no longer works. I know this because I was a young kid myself.....

A question, to anyone who wishes...

yesterday I was watching the days football, with friends. Smoked alot of herb(as always). Usually I only smoke my own, but a friend had some, what appeared to be good herb. And it was, really good. But I could tell how it was grown almost, non organic. The thing is today I feel like shit! My throat is sore and shit. And I smoke 15 joints a day everyday, of my own. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this... you know when you only smoke orgo and you smoke something else...?

Thanks for the props Willie :respect:

I know instantly from the moment I take a pull of anybody elses stash if it's been fed with nuclear waste....err I mean synthetic ferts.
I can feel it in my throat as you mentioned but what I really hate is what I call BadBudBrain, I feel hazy and grunpy and generally like shit after toking shit herb.
I've never toked 15 a day lol but I could easily smoke about 3-4 cigarettes sized joints in a day of my own stash at home and never feel any of that.
I have noticed that cutting down has really changed my high though, When I do toke my little "pinner" at night it royally fucks me up, if there had to be a silver lining to cutting down that would be it.

My own stash will last me a few more months but I'm not loking forward to buying again, if indeed I can't find someone to grow with my equipment and split the stash I might honestly quit before going the street weed road.

and the worst part is if you say something, 99% of the time they get offended. but thats what they get for feeding with nuclear waste....err I mean synthetic ferts :p a fat bong rip with some unflushed chem is killer on the throat sometimes it will be fucked for few hours. and thats when it pays to teach your friends the ways of the soil.

^^^^^ Carefuk JK,

You are gonna piss off some nuclear wa ....errr synthetic grower and start a shit storm again.....

Stop taunting those that simply do not see the light. It is likely those folks are just acclimated to bad tasting harsh hard on the lungs burns the tip of your tongue while leaving a blackish gray smoldering ash in the bowl becuase it would not suck through weed grown in water with industrail wastes.

But hey- its kewl,

lmfao MI so much for not taunting the little hydro store groupies lolol.
I am desperately trying to find a surrogate[sp?] grower that I can get a mtutal arrangement going.

Soft burning weed is a hazard sometimes though, people start puffing away at it like a cigarette and next thing you know my friend are doing some stupid shit (safe but stupid) and some peeps I met for the first time just went "out of it", it's a real narcotic high so I've ceated dead silence at some parties which leads to a cleaned out fridge and pantry on some dumbasses drinking alot and pucking.
One girl fell asleep at the bar after splitting a .7 with me, that was classic, I tokes a Jamaican friend of mine (220lbs+) and he passed out pucking, he grew up in NY so everytime kids would walk by the van he and I where recouperating in he'd sit up and scream "DRIVE BY", killed myself laughing every time...

Ahh the good old days, when having a hangover was funny. :p

hahahaahahahaha so true soo so true. ive went to partys, rolled a blunt and just let it loose. 15 mins later the party just slows down to a minimum, everyones sitting down with pie eyes. just the other day one dude took a fat bong rip and just fell over. no words, no warning just fell over and fell asleep.

M_I : you know im not starting anything. keep in mind it wasent me who said it first *wink wink suby* although i think your on to something, they might just like that shit. oh wells sucks for them.

Hey Relik,

Have a super trip, that's a fucking long flight depending on where you live, hope you like cheesy movies and stale peanuts lol.
I'm just jealous, I'd love to be there and try surfing, maybe get attacked by a shark, ya know something fun.

Guys I've been toying with something for the last few days, I'm putting together some info about organics and coco, I had a long ass thread on this at OG.
I have indeed found an alternative way to flex my growing muscles, I have found someone to mentor through a grow and I'm pretty excited, this keeps me safe and out of prison but keeps me in enough organic weed to be happy :D.

Ok so what I want to do next grow is incorporate about 20% coco medium into my soil mix and cut the perlite down to 10%, the reason for this is simple, I'm trying to squeeze off some decent yields here on an ammended mix with guanos.
I've been reading my old notes on coco and I like the idea that I can benefit from the cationic exchange capacities, initially coco medium is loaded with K so I'm thinking using a coco medium is a great way to get more K in my mix in flowering, it also makes P and K more availble to the rootzone than say peat.
As an additional benefit it is very porous, which is why I'll be cutting down on the perlite, this will shorten the time between waterings/feeding, the idea is I will be able to pump more nutes through the rootzone and tailor the feedings.
I'm going on the assumption that coco, as it acidifies, will release both P and K as well as buffering their upake during flowering.
It's not a hude leap to think that the benefits of coco can be of value within an organic soil mix as opposed to a pure coco medium, when i tried coco only organic grow it was very good, I made some newb mistakes and did not like growing with an all in one fert like PBPro, it was alot of mixing and fussing with EC and other shit, I want the benefits of both an ammended soil grow with that of growing in coco.
I might push the amounts of coco up to 30-40% during flowering and cut down on the soil mix, I'm hoping for agressive rooting so I will be flowering in rubbermaid tubs, I might even look at making some plywood boxes like I did once before, they make better use of the space and allow me to fit more medium in a smaller space.
I'll also be using hydroclay on this trial run, I want to line the bottom of the boxes or pots with about 3" of it to increase airation at the roots, I've done it before with my first soil grows and it made transplanting easy and keept my plant from being overwatered.
I'll also be making alot of holes in the bottom to increase aeration, small enough to keep everything in place but lots of them.

So this is our plan, this is my little experiment for this new grow we are setting up, I'll be posting the official recipe and all my links to the coco info. I've actually dug up probably 10 interesting articles I'll post and quote here as I've found little in dept info about coco on IC. :joint:

Peace guys,

intresting suby, ive never delt with coco but i know some people who use it in there mixes and they have super bomb nugs, there plants grew a little faster as well. but i wouldnt say they were any more dank than my soil grown.

speaking of experiments nettles season is coming back and the new fresh young plants are the best there full of growth hormones and produce the best results than later in the season when there flowering. i was going to do a side by side to show everyone there potential. time to go collecting. better make sure to bring some gloves this time.

i know theres a few coco heads on the boards that look like they really know what there doing. im sure lots of info is on here.

its gonna be a good 07 for the OFC

You just jogged my memory, have you though of drying nettle leaves out and grinding them down and adding them to the soil?
This way it could maybe stink less and be a solid ammendment source for say flowering?
I all about being able to capitalize on anything but it has to be availble year round, I'll be on the lookout at my local nurseries for it but by me, it's -20deg so it won't be awhile.

Yes 07' is lookin mighty fine indeed.

have you though of drying nettle leaves out and grinding them down and adding them to the soil?

Can you use all parts of the nettle plant or just the leaves?
ie: mulching the stems and etc.

Also, I was just curius, spinach tastes alot like nettles when you steam the leaves and eat it, similar qualities?...tea?....

This is influencing me to grow an outdoor garden specifically for homemade ferts if possible, some nettles, comfrey, vetch, etc.......any ideas for a selection of plants that would cover all nutrient needs?

G

Guest

OK......did some searching and answered my own question, you can use the leaves and roots of the nettle plant.

Here is some info about nettles:

The nettle plant contains high quality fibre, with properties similar to flax and hemp, consisting up to 17% by weight of the plant. The fibre has remarkable high tensile strength, fineness, low specific weight and average length of 4m, this allows production of fine fabrics and technical applications. Fibre from the nettle plants has a cellulose content of 86.5%. High protein content of the crop may also be utilised in industrial applications.

Male and female plants vary in quality and composition. The content of polyphenolic acids both in leaves and rhizomes is higher in male plants, however the chemical composition of female polyphenolic acid tends to be more complex.

Female plants generally have higher content of assimilation pigments whereas male plants have higher flavonol and polyphenol acid contents, particularly at the beginning of flowering.

Six compounds which are found in aerial parts of nettle plants are caffeic acid, rutin (rutoside), quercetin, hyperin, isoquercitrin, lignan and beta-sitosterol.

Nettle is nutritionally high in vitamins A, C and D, also minerals iron, manganese, potassium and calcium. It contains 21-23% crude protein and 9-21% crude fibre.

As a feed component the quality of nettle plants is valuable. At the vegetative stage plants contain 4% protein and fibre, 50 microg/g carotene, 4 microg/g riboflavin and 10 microg/g vitamin E. By incorporating nettle into poultry feed it is possible to increase protein intake by 15-20% and vitamin intake by 60-70%, also green feed requirements can be reduced by 30%.

....................................................................................................
and one of my favorites, wheatgrass:

Wheatgrass contains vitamin A, vitamin C, B complex vitamins, vitamins E and K. Wheatgrass also contains 82 out of the 92 minerals found in soil including calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc, Potassium, Phosphorus and Cobalt.

Wheat grass has been found to dissolve scars formed in the lungs and in addition helps wash drug deposits from the body, purifies the blood and organs and counteracts acids and toxins in the body. It helps to increase the enzyme level in our cells, aiding in the rejuvenation of the body and the metabolism of nutrients These enzymes help to disolve tumors.

This nutrient-rich grass contains 17 amino acids which are the building blocks of proteins. The body uses these amino adds for, things like building, muscle tissue, repairing cells, and clotting the blood. Wheatgrass retains 92 of the 102 minerals found in the soil. These minerals include calcium, phosphorus, iron magnesium and potassium. It is a rich natural source of vitamins A and C. Wheatgrass has more vitamin C than oranges and twice the vitamin A as carrots. It is exceptionally rich in vitamins E, K, and B-complex. It is also a natural source of laetrile (B-17).
