That may have been the best laugh of 2006 for me.

Organic soil has been that to me.

Thanks All,

Alexa is her name and she was born with the most beautiful head of hair.
If you guys think waiting 60 days on a flowering beauty is long you should try 9 months and 12 hours of contractions later lol.
But as with anything you put your heart and soul into it's well worth the wait.

Thanks all for your your kind PM's and well wishes, I'll still be around you guys are just too cool to just ditch. :respect:

Thanks MI,

I will no doubt be breaking many legs of manya young boy, I guess it's payback for my mysogynistics teen years.
Her uncle Jonny has sworn to stalk her whenever she goes on a date, I think i'll just enjoy every minute and worry about it later.
My wife was hoping for twins..I was not lol.

Happy New Year my Pot loving friends.

Hello all,

Well I have mentioned that I am going to do a pre-mixed organic soil comparison between a brand you can get and HD or Lowes.

I am using Kelloggs's Patio Patio Plus organic soil and Fox Farms Ocean Fish.

The ratio of mix is 50% soil pre-mix, 30% perlite (small size) and 20% Organics alive ewc/organic compost.
http://www.organicsalive.org/premium_mix.html

The seedlings are 26 days from breaking the surface and were in 12oz cups of spent FFOF similar to the mix above. They were fed about 14 days ago with 1/2 strenght fish sqeezins and ejBloom. This same mix until a few days ago. They were showing signs of N def and rootbound so the time has come to transplant.

So, all four of the seedling have had the same environment and treatmnet since germination. While there will always be variation in growth and vigor- perhaps some interesting results may be gleaned.

And to what end would I do this- economics- sure I can get FFOF for 10 bux and is a steal according to some- I cna get Kelloggs for half the price. It will interesting to see if either performs better and which lasts longer.

I used the Kelloggs before I used the FFOF and had bad results- but I have gained experience so I am also trying to see if it was jsut grower error.

Now the kelloggs list of ingredients:

And FFOF:

EDIT:
Contains composted forest humus, sphagnum peat moss, Pacific Northwest sea-going fish, crab meal, shrimp meal, earthworm castings, vermiculture compost (bedding material and manure), sandy loam, perlite, fossilized bat guano, granite dust, Norwegian kelp meal, and oyster shell (for pH adjustment).
END:

I have no pic of the ingredients listed on the bag but they, as with the Kellogg's, are ilisted in order of amounts from large to small.

Now the major difference I notice is of course the use of chicken shit as opposed to the fish/crab/shrimp scrap.

It wil be interesting to see the results in flavor also- this of course supposes I get females of the same pheno (yeah right- from NRS seeds).

So, anyway I will keep updates as we go.

PS: I also use "Down To Eart" mycchoriza innocluant
These are the Kellogg's Patio Plus mix

ANd f the FFOF mix:

Thier vegging chamber.

EDIT: 1/26/07

NOTE: these plants were lst'ed during the veg time.

I had to terminate the soil experiement due to space restrictions and number of avail females.

Anyway, it seems that the Kelloggs feeds for about a week longer judging by general appearence.

Here are the Kelloggs at one week. The second is the FFOF.

at two weeks:

@ 25 days in teh soil mix

Now no real conclusions can be drawn from this experiement- only anticdotal but I think I will be giving the Kelloggs another try now that I know a little more about growing. It seems to last a week longer and is half the price of FFOF.

In fact the female KC33 x Masterkush is in the kelloggs now as well as some ak48 and Mendocino bagseed.

Happy New Years OFC.

Minds I, those two look good together. I found that I had to suppliment the FFOF also. After reading the ingredents I do not see why the plants did not do well other than maybe a lack of dolomite lime. The FFOF has Oyster shells added to help set the PH but with the other soil I would add the dolomite. With that combination you should have great results.

And MI, take a handful of pure worm castings and add to the top of your cups. The plants will pick up really quick. I like to use Maxi-crop Liquid fish at this time. I also use spent FFOF but mostly for clones.

06 was very hard for me but all you guys at the OFC made it a little more bareable. I will have some good things for your guys at the OFC, I will have to move soon and set up again. Moving.....where? I'm a 40's something construction manager who grows weed as a hobbie. Any ideas on where to go guys?

Anyway, good job MI, look foward to your girls progress. And again to all the peeps at the OFC....

And to Master Suby, congrats. Alexa is a beautiful girl. :respect: I look foward to more pics. Grow her with the same love and pride you grew you plants with. You will get back what you put in.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year OFC! I know I'm a bit late, but I really don't have much time during these days, Xmas and New Year is when you get to see a lot of people that either are on vacation or you just don't see all the time. Yesterday an old friend of mine who used to live in Australia came to my house, and I was happy to see he's into growing herb, and he does it well! Too many people here listen to rumors and stuff when it comes to herb cultivation, and end up with a shitty product, if any...

Woke up late this morning, stressing about watering the garden, I was scared it would dry out under the hot summer sun but my stoner brain had already forgot it had been raining for 3 days...

Suby, congratulations! You must be one happy daddy!

Von, nice to see you're OK!

Keep it cool brothers, take care.

hey all, happy new year everybody!

I'm back after a stint of paranoia and erasing my account, good to see you all still in full swing, congrats on the new arrival suby! she is beautiful!
now take that pic down before your wife gives ya shit!

will the mod.(?) please make this thread a sticky! I've learned soo much just from this thread alone!

And now here is my addition to this thread:

An organic bug spray that is so simple it will surprise you!

Visible thrips activity, and suspected spider mite activity, has been stopped dead!

spray bottle
2 tblsp veggie oil
a squirt of dishsoap
top with water, shake well.

soak plants till they drip, get undersides of all leaves too!

that's it!

don't beleive it? try it!

whether or not this completely decimates the flock for ever is questionable, but, 12 hrs or less after spraying, all bugs dead! only carcasses visible!

BBC i bet that spray works wonders, stupid how when you go to the store and find products to kill pests, that cost insane prices when you can make your own that works better and is safer.

SO now its 2007, we need to kick the OFC up a notch. maybe we can make a list of or post what we would like to see and then get some info posted on it. any C & C welcome to make this thread better. other than it not being a sticky *cough* *cough*

.....................................................................................................

Use less oil or wash after a day or two, the fan leaves that visibly soaked up the oil, now have visible heat stress from sitting under the HPS sun with some suntan lotion on, so use with caution.
