erasedyea there is some good information in that book ,
i hear kelly slater (the famous surfer) is thinking of making a movie of it now,
id certainly take note of the information those guys put in the book since it was clearly well-researched and direct from accounts of the people in the trade at the time,
not sure how many people they interviewed all up ,
but 1000 hours of interviews is quite a lot ,
there is several clips on you tube and an interview with one of the main players also ...
i mean if 100 people , who were involved in the smuggling , growing etc , all say the same thing , you really have to lean towards them being accurate ,
vs folks who were never there and have been told stuff second or third hand .. or by shifty dealers etc ...
BOEL brought that load in to maui "Papa Gradita Colitas", Came from Papanoa in Guerrero Mexico , also know as Acapulco gold or the Bolt in Hawaii , thats is also how Lightning Bolt Surfboards got there name Gerry Lopez was there when load came in held up a bud said it looked like a lighting boltNice, I learned what colitas are .
People forget how the CIA found their black projects DRUGS, and they operated out of the Golden Triangle for decades, and I would not be surprised if they are not still there today.
In his book “The King of Nepal”, Joe PietriI talks about a load of hash that he had stashed in Nepal to be smuggled out at a later date. The hash dried out too much to be worth shipping. He says he mixed it with opium to soften it up and make it sellable. He claims this was most likely the only suitcase of Opiated Hash to be ever shipped to the US
Hi all,
As the title says, I want to know if the stories about opiated Thai Sticks are true or not.
Please share the info you have.
Cheers.

the issue is as you have said ,I can't really understand how people who never experienced opiated Thai sticks can argue that they were a myth or that is was a dream or whatever. While it's very true that not everyone got in on them, it doesn't mean that other people DID get in on them. Whatever stories or reasonings that have been attached to them, after the fact....like theories about HOW they were opiated...or WHY someone would want to opiate them...I've heard a few different ones. The validity of that stuff is somewhat questionable. However, I was there when opiated Thai Sticks showed up in my little town. I knew Vietnam War vets and Peace Corps workers who brought them back. They told us what the sticks were, but not the "how" or "why" about them. And nobody asked! It was just an opportunity to try a different type of high. We didn't care about any of the background information. There were no connoisseurs or anything like that. There were just some people who got lucky to be included on the rare experience.
It would be really cool to try and make some opiated Thai sticks.
How about the fact that I smoked both Thai weed, non-opiated Thai Sticks as well as opiated Thai sticks so I have the experience to compare all of it? Yeah, the Thai weed was better than pretty much anything else we had access to at that time. But it was, in no way even close to the experience of smoking an opiated Thai Stick. The weed was certainly just incidental no matter how good it was. It was just a very mild way of experiencing some of the effects of opium. ANYTHING coming from SE Asia, in those days, was rare. certainly more exotic, because the only way that we could get access to Thai ANYTHING was via the Vietnam War -especially in my little midwest town. But, see, the thing is, I DID know veterans and Peace Corps workers who brought some back. It was in no way a smuggling operation, by any means....at least not by anyone I knew. It was just some of the hometown guys coming back with some cool "souvenirs" they found out about when they were over there, and then sharing it with close friends. In fact, after everyone was back from the war, and those batches had been smoked, we never saw any of that stuff ever again. It was a one-time deal and if you weren't there and didn't know the right people, then you were on the outside. That's must be why it's so hard to believe. Man, people got into BAD trouble for doing anything with weed back then. It was very secretive stuff. No one was documenting anything. But a few of us, who were around then, are still around and we can tell the stories, now.the issue is as you have said ,
its always second hand experience , told by someone else , to the person who posts about it , or third hand ,
there is no single person who was where thai sticks were being made , who says yes i saw this happening ,
no smuggler who said , yes i moved a lot of that stuff ,
no thai people who said , yes we made those ,
no busts of any thai sticks with opium on them ,
its almost like it never happened , lol ...
really if anyone who deals in facts read this thread ,
and saw the lack of evidence for opiated thai sticks ,
it would be clear which way they would sway to believing...
as has been said by many ,, some folks used opium and cannabis together ,
but the cannabis was just a vehicle in this combination , its potency , quality , etc would have been negated by the opium ,
so why use the very best, and thai sticks were the very best around ,
so strong in fact , that some people managed to convince others they were laced with opium , the proof of that is in this thread , its just there was no opium on them ... the reasons for that are also in these pages ,
no need to try to convince anyone of your second or third hand experiences , using no evidence , its not happening ....
so u were told ,How about the fact that I smoked both Thai weed, non-opiated Thai Sticks as well as opiated Thai sticks so I have the experience to compare all of it?
