and hi there Dr D :joint: here, take a toke on that.......

I promised you a looksie at the bubbler ive been playing with the other day, well i finally got my cam to install on the PC again, so here are a couple for you all,

This was taken on the day i set it up, the clone only has a few little roots outta the cube, I decided to use a top drip for the early stages to bring the roots on a bit due to them only being few, andit was worthwhile....I ended up taking the drip off after about 21 days.....although it could have come off 10 days before but I liked what I was seeing.....

these 2 were both taken last week, sept 23rd, which is around 7 weeks, she has been topped and all stems have been bent a lot and "Massaged"....
Im feeding her the usual Vita Link Grow, with their bio-Plus, Bio-Pak,((that one coats up my roots like you said about the "Bizz" root juice but man it increases them....oh yes...its quite dear to buy but worth it and a little goes a long way!)) and Silicone - Plus; along with Canna-Zym, although Im switchin over to Sensi-zym next changeout to give it a try!
Im topping off with Ph'd water(5.5) and adding nutes as needed to keep up my ec.....still experimenting with the strength though so no numbers for you just yet! Ive been changing the water out every 2-2 1/2 weeks to be on the safe side! Ive got a nice Waterfarm style level indicator on the side which is just an elbow with some tubing on it, hot glued into the bottom side of the bucket and then ""Calibrated"" (haha) in 1 litre increments with marker pen) so its easy for buddy boy whose home its all at to top up when im not there!
I added a rolling plant pot stand at the weekend, but the pic with that is on my phone....aint got that on the PC, but ill get some pics with it this week....it makes it easier moving it and turning it and shifting it to get at other stuff I can tell u!!. I used the rim of the wheelie stand to fix some ties to, but I cant describe how ive done them Ill have to get a pic for that, its just a way of making them removeable so I can lift the top easily for changeouts and checking the roots, without actually having to unti them!
Well thats it for now, Ill get you some pics from this week when I go later on tonight shes looking amazing since I tied her, ....
right, Catch you all later,
Be lucky now,
Harry :sasmokin:
ps this is the airstone I use...its the medium sized of this type

Is that a jiffy plug in your hydroton Harry? How does that fare for holding water and oxygen in a dwc?

that is a fleximix cube, same as a root riot cube or a hy supply pit-pot, or a rapid rooter. No problems with holding water, hey spongy structure of em has loads of airpockets in it. Ive stood them in a cm of nutrient once clones have rooted with no problmems at all-you couldnt do that with a rockwool or a jiffy.
The roots have no problem growing through here and into the clay
hope that helps

Fleximix eh?
i'll have to check into that because on my current DWC i'm using jiffys inside of hydroton and I that it is just inviting root rot because it stays so waterlogged all the time. thanks

Hey Guys,

Dr D. you've inspired me! i just got back from walmart.
i got:
2 10gl rubbermaids - 4.49 each
2 air stones - 1.49 each
air pump for a 60 gallon tank (dual outlet) for 19.95
a fishtank thermometere for 1.50
clone/seed propigation kit for under 10 dollars.

in total i spent about 40 dollars and got everything i needed.

Just an FYI for anyone that has space restrictions.

getting 2 10gal tanks takes up less space than one 20 gal. u save about 3 inches in vertical space. every inch counts!

How many in a

How many in a

I want to grow in a 3x3 space, maybe up to 3.5 x 3.5 space with a 600 digi. I am wondering how many of these bubblers I could efficiently fit in there without overcrowding plants? Say 3 gallon size or so, but what is the smallest bucket size that would be practical, I was thinkin 3 gal. ?

I want to do multiple strains so I need to be able to have the ability to play around with different females of strains to find the best mothers etc from seed. I was thinking either a 3x3 ebb and flow table or these buckets. What do you think?

google hempy buckets.

also dwc is simple as stated here. For yur space find some 10gallon tubs, you sould be able to get 2 in that space. Look long and hard for the right ones. You may want to sacrifice a few inches of height for a few extra gallons.

You can do DWC with an internal aquarium filter too. They are designed to not heat up the water and this will not make noise.

Go to your local petstore and see what they have. Dont get a bare inlet powerhead unless you make a prefilter. Ive found that "internal filters" work waybetter. you just have to squeeze out the sponge a few times a grow. Take out the carbon and replace with bio media, and your good to go. just add PureBlen Pro.

i am on the verge of starting my first hydro grow, and the problem that i am having is deciding on a medium. i am going to use a 5 gal. bucket with one or two plants DWC. any advice given on preferences or experiences with the good and the bad would be awesome.

awesome thread - and exactly what i needed.

first time grower here, i have a whole bedroom setup as a grow room. it is partitioned to allow for a flower room of 10x6' under two 600W HPS lamps. the mother/veg/clone portion occupies the closet and another 2 feet of the bedroom - one 400W MH lamp for the mom and veg (and one 2 bulb 40W floro for the clones.)

im running a continuous garden of 18 plants.

everything is set up and i was planning on transplanting my rooted-out clones for veg tomorrow. my original plan was to hand water, but with so many plants - and because i actually have to work (lol) - i am very, very interested in setting it up for DWC.

i am wondering how this pre-manufactured system would work for the system outlined in this thread. Living System i see no mention of Deep Water Culture when researching this system... and i want to make sure it is set up for this system. if not, i will look for another. the good thing about this one is - i can buy it locally and have it for transplant tomorrow... and i can do it for 18 plants for roughly $380 US.

:chin: please give me feedback on whether this Living System is DWC ready.

also - after reading a thread on LST ( Low Stress Training ) on another forum, i was eager to try it on this grow. im pretty the LSTraining can be implemented on a DWC grow as 1 is the type of hydro, the other is just training your plant... but any feedback or experienced growers using both methods?

thanks a ton!

---edit---

dr d - what was the yield per plant on your last harvest using this system?

Hey guys just wondering your opinion on this,
I gotta 1000w hps in cooltube,
have a 747 vortex fan with controller
4-3.5 gal buckets with a 4 outlet air pump with air stones

I have as much room as I need to work with, whats the best way to keep the buckets cool? Should I use the fan to cool the light or maybe cool the buckets? The 1000w really heats up the room so, just wondering your guys advice? Lol thanks

im a newb, so consider my opinion lightly.

i would ask myself a few questions first. if you noticeably feel a big increase in heat off the 1000W lamp - what is the temp in the room at the peak-heat time of the day outside? is it going to get warmer or cooler (outside) over the next few months? do you have AC in your house and would you be willing to use it as often as needed (which could be 24/7) to keep that 1 room cooler. and, do you have money to spend on more equipment (like a cheaper method of cooling for the water), if so how much?

without any of these questions answered and based off what you have said, i would say that you should air-cool the 1000W lamp, especially if you notice how much it heats up. again - if its normally 60F in the room and the lamp brings it up to 75F... no biggie, but im guessing it pops it up into the 80s or 90s depending on where you live and if you run AC in your house.

also something to consider. how much air ventilation does the room get? you could use the fan (or get another - doesnt have to be a monster) and connect it to your ceiling or rig to an open windowed area and have it exhaust out. if you dont hook a fan up to the lamp, this will still pull out alot of heat (the higher it's mounted the better) AND it will help circulate air in your room.

this is how i used my 1 fan (and i have 2 open windows to the room)

thats my 2 cents - hope it helps

i have the same question about water cooling methods. any feedback on inexpensive, controllable cooling?
