honestly the loudest thing is the fan and the exhaust fan. the ballast is semi-quiet and the overall noise from the fishtank bublers is only as loud as most peoples fish tanks.

Hope this helps, this system isnt that loud - my brother sleeps in the room where the closet setup is and he sleeps sound every night and he is only 10 feet away.

nice thread with some nice setups, hey Dr.D I was wondering in your opinion what do you think would be better Im planning on doing a 4 plant DWC grow and was wondering if it'd be better to get one of those big cooler and set that up for 4 plants or do you get 4 buckets to grow in?

i know my name is not Dr.D but I have read from others on these threads and i have experience in using rubermaid tubs for 3 plants each, if I were to do it all over again I would use 5 gal buckets with 1 plant incerts in each for best results and ease of maintiane.

I use 4 tubs with 3 each, and every time I have finished there was at least 2 or 3 plants that were choked out by the size of the others. If you use individual buckets this is much less likely to happen.

Yes. Here's an example from this summer - this was my best timed flush to date.

This is definitly what I am doing for my first grow. Thanks for breaking it down and making it so simple folks. I am pretty sure I can do it. One question though when the roots get bigger isn't it hard to look for roor rot? or are they less susceptable to that when they mature?
peace

When to flush Dr.D? I am nearing the last two weeks of my grow and I am wondering if there is a general number of days before peak harvest time that would be good to flush and use clean water?

I am thinking on 4 or 5 days before the day I chop for peak harvest, does that sound about right?

hey i got a question for you . how do you start a seed . im woundering how do you get from a seed to a plant in a hydro system such as yours . im doing the same thing as you but i can't figure out how they transplant into the hydro systems . like can i juss wash away the dirt from the roots as im transplanting and juss place the plant in the net pot . and when you transplant into net pot how deep do you have to plant . like i have a 10 inch net pot in a bubbler and could i juss have the buttom of the roots touching the buttom of the net pot and it'll still grow . or do you have to have all the roots touching the water or the buttom ?

my first attempt with lowryder in dwc got me 2 males.

They've only actually been in the cooler for 2 days, i've been watering them by hand since the beginning, only made the jump when i got the pump.

for now they have a 45w cfl, but i have more light for them when i get some females and more experience.
