Old Dudes Grow

hey there old fool, how are things in your neck of the woods, I hope you are enjoying the season as well.

Hazy, Thanks for stopping by. Yeah the brick is nasty isn't it. It's why I feel good about growing, as you can see the quality takes a big step up.

Just a few pics of first seeded plants harvested.

looking great ancient one! let us know how that afghan smokes. ive had nirvana's a couple times and absolutely loved it!

Well it's the harvest season and there have been some very good ones. Congratulations on the hard work and sheer determination it takes to accomplish that. As for partner and I this year has been a learning experience and a somewhat humbling one. You have to be prepared to deal with the unexpected at all times and it can be a wake-up to realize your not as smart as you thought you were.
While our harvest has not been as bountiful as we had hoped, we still have some decent smoke and the 4 biggest plants have a few more weeks to go.
The Nirvana Afghani was an ok smoke. After being properly dried it had a slightly skunky odor when broken up. A subdued floral taste, you have to remember it was dried outdoors and hasn't been cured. It is a heavy Indica stone that is good for the couch and chilling out.

The Seedsman Durban Poison has hardly any taste, its not harsh nor does it make you cough. The high is pretty potent, but not speedy/racy, nor is it particually upbeat. Still I like it. I consider Thai (last smoked in 1972) sticks to be the best Sativa I ever smoked.

A few plants ready for the jar.

Not bad oldman haha!!

You may want to dry them indoors next time
for much better taste, the humidity overnights
can really make them brown and swaggy tasting??

Good job,keep tryin for MORE!!!

Help from my peer's

Help from my peer's

I've got a Big Hawiian X Maui Waui still going and very near completion. But now I've got a rain storm. :cuss: I think she need's atleast another week to finish trich development.Question is do I wait or take her now.? I shook the water out the best I could and will do it again. will rain destroy trich's..? :chin: If I take it now will I have to put a fan on it to help drying and prevent mold.? Has anyone else dealt with these problem's..? these pic's are two week's old.

I turn 50 next year..So I think I qualify as an Old Dude..! LOL

No rain doesnt destroy trich's...it could knock them off if hard enough I suppose.. but I do know its not water soluble....alcohol yes water no!

They'll be fine.Let her finish. The fan isn't such a bad idea though if she's not drying out on her own by midday.best wishes for a great harvest

Glad to hear harvest is going down all right. They'll all improve w/ a good cure, just wait! Good to feel humbled from the intangables that spring up at you, make you all the more ready by next yr.
I'm in the 50+ club, and am humbled all too much! :biglaugh:

Best wishes for continued success! :D

High Betty's Boy,
Very nice looking Hawaiian you have there, only had Hawaiian a few times in the mid 70's,It was the only time I had a friend that knew "a few people", great stuff although I'm sure it wasn't anything like your growing or what you could get in the islands. We had the opposite problem with rain this year, too much in the spring and early summer. We still haven't had to water, except to give them a little shot of ferts. Being they are Sativa's they should be able to dry if you have any sun. Good luck and yeah you are an old dude, you could even have grandkids. We just get better with age though.
Budluver and Hindu Killer, thanks for stopping by, I been checking out your grows, good luck with your harvest.
Highlighter, I'm kind of amazed at how many "grown ups" still toke, the literature sometimes claims that people grow out of smoking pot, youthful rebellion, etc. Seems not to be the case I'm happy to say. Been checking you out on the UST and can say I'm impressed, send me some of your knowledge and magic touch please
Lowgrew, After a few days in the jar, the taste has already softened. My partner and I are kind of disappointed in our year, but with you and many others serving as inspiration and providing guidance we are more determined to learn from what we did wrong and prepare for next year. In the meantime we will have a little quality smoke for the fall. Keep giving hell Lougrew.

Ganico I forgot to ask you, if you have had any experience with DP by any of the breeders, I've been intrigued for a long time about this strain. The Seedsmans DP is ok, more like a Mexican Sativa, not speedy or up at all. Will see what some time in the jar does.

Way to go, AO! Glad to see you got your harvest in. Us old folks need our meds! lol

Hey Guys
Congratulations on everyones harvest. It is a time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Well the Old Dudes Grow doesn't have too many days left, maybe another week and it will be over. Been a strange trip this year, certainly a humbling and hopefully learning experience. Even though we are a little bit disappointed with the size of the harvest, we are thankful for what we do have. Makes us more determined to try once again.

Ancient One- I think I sent you a PM a few weeks back, not entirely sure if it made it though to ya, or if I even actually sent it, haha

But anyway, nah I never tried any durban poison. Was gonna order some from one of the dutch companies until I found out most of their "durbans" were actually infected with some indica, so the "early" time was worthless since it wasn't a pure sativa anyway.
There might still be some actual pure african durban seeds available through afropips or maybe even some left over seedstock from African Seeds. Not sure about flowering time, think it's considerably more than the dutch bootleg Durbans, but then again I could be wrong about that.

Actually, as far as "store bought" or commercial genetics I have almost no experience. Hell I ain't got that much experience regardless, haha
