Old Dudes Grow

What Ob was referring to with the mounds is a gardening (veggie) technique called raise beds. They heat up faster in the spring and they drain better. He didn't know the rain you been having is not the norm. Yeah 28 years local experience is tough to beat. lol Hell, when I was younger we use to tote our water 5 miles, uphill both ways! lol I hear you on hiking water! Especially in the heat. I stuck out a couple 3 or 4 clones a week ago. But I have a water source VERY close by. But they were just a drop and check in October kinda thing. A trial for next year. If the deer or critters don't get them and the helicopters miss them, I've got an added bonus. And the great part is I can sit and innocently watch them/the area. Be safe.

Hey you old fool!! Just sent you a PM. I may be in trouble on this wild grow I have going. I have to go to work for a bit...

Yes .What I meant was in a wet location what you can do is plant in those big, black 20-30 gallon nursery type containers. Just cut the bottom out and bury about 6" in the native soil. Of course if it floods really bad, you're screwed anyway. Growers in Texas are really getting HAMMERED with all the rain they have had this year. Now another hurricane may be coming.

I was born and raised in Florida. I had friends who planted this way in some mucky, swampy type places way back when some on here were only a gleam in their mom's eye :)

Good luck with it

Hello Everyone
A little update, the weather has continued hot and humid, highs in the high 90's, humidity in the 60's. We got enough rain so that we haven't had to water.
The heat has slowed growth though, but all the Afghans are in flowering. Two Durban females are showing, ( wish I knew which breeder they were). The biggest Mexican has turned out to be a male, will pollinate a few Durban flowers just for fun. We put 4 Speed Queens in the ground. There were 5 Mexicans, 4 Afghani, and 4 Durban Poison already in the ground from first part of august. They have grown in spite of this years weather. We started a small grow in another spot, 3 established Mexicans and about 30 seedlings in peat plugs, minimal hole, using water crystals, soaked in nutes, got the ideal from Julian in Massive Outdoor grow thread. will see if the can survive the heat, however if they do they can go until Nov. Could write a thread about everything we've done wrong this year, but the bottom line is that this wonderful plant is pretty tough, another couple of months and the love will show. Stay safe everyone.

Hey man!!

Looks like things are looking up for you. Plants look good from here. I hope the weather doesn't go south on you. Sounds like you are in hurricane prone territory too. Let's hope those bitches stay away too.

Things are in deed looking good, AO. Those mexicans don't look like any mexicans I see around here working construction. Will yours work under the table too? ;) I used the water crystals with some I set out over the weekend. I didn't know do the nute soaking as the soil was fairly good. I like the idea though. Keep up the good work...I'll be lurking.

Hey Guys,
It continues to be hot and humid. What else is new, we entered the normal weather pattern for this time of year. However, we continue to get a few rain showers which really helps on the watering. All the seedlings (Mexicans) in the peat plugs are alive. I guess water crystals are the bomb. All the Afghans are flowering, 3 Durbans showing, the male mex continues to ripen. The Speed Queens are ok.
Old Fool, the Mexicans are working under the table, and more importantly under the radar. I read about the people in their 70's and 90's getting busted and dying in prison. I get a wave of paranoia every time I think about what I'm doing. So what do you say we keep em under the table for now.
.
J-Roc, the swimming pool has been drained for the season. thanks for stopping by.

Oblido49, Thanks again for the words of encouragement. Hurricanes are a fact of life, most years we get lucky, just like tornadoes, you don't pay any attention until they happen. This last scare resulted in the state spending allot of its emergency money getting ready for Dean, people were hitting the stores for supplies before it even hit Jamaica, hope the growers there came out ok.

Today is Ron Paul's Birthday Bash, think I might just drive down there today, sometimes you have to take a stand. He may be the last chance we have to restore Constitutional government. I can't help but wonder what it like to live in a free country like Paddi, Esbe, Bonecarver, or even like the Babbas. Sometimes I think I should move to someplace free, but I can't live with my conscience if I don't attempt to change things. Ya'll stay safe.

Hello Everyone,
Hope you are staying high and safe.
Thanks for stopping by highonthechroni. Appreciate the kind words.
star crash,, I hope that one day that would be possible, maybe I'm a dreamer but the day will happen, whether it's it our lifetime is another question.
With the rain we are getting we are going to reduce the number of visits we make, no real need to other than just spending some time taking pictures.
Here are a few pics, We cut the Mexican male down and chucked some pollen on a couple of Afghan and one Durban. Who knows, redneck diesel anyone? LOL

Awesome job. That last picture you posted would look great in black and white or sepia, like classic Americana.

Some of our best afghan/skunk hybrids came out of the ozarks and mid-south river systems. Heck, what they did with G-13 is legendary.

Those were the days (late 70's/early 80's). It's on a much smaller scale now, but their research will never be forgotten.

Even Soma owes a lot to with these boys from Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee. These people came from many generations of real independent farmers who actually knew what they were doing with seed breeding.

By your methods and fertilizers, you guys seriously remind me of the "GRGA".
;)

Hey Guys,
Had not visited the plants for a few days. It was interesting to see the changes, All the Afghans are budding up nicely, there might even be one ready in two weeks or so. The Durban's are finally taking off. They have stretched out and are starting to bud up. On the down side the Speed Queens are not going to do much, maybe a gram or two and it looks like the overall yield won't be much. Have learned a few lessons for sure. On the other hand bet we will have enough to see us thru the winter. Gave them some water and low dose flowering ferts, (not organic) Clipped a few very small buds on the bottom of the Afg's, checked them out with my RS pocket micro. All the gland heads are clear. The Durban's will go till late October or early November. It will be worth the wait.

Hi there EasyBakeIndica, Thanks for stopping by. Had problems with mold, growing Indica here in the early 90"s, The Afg's are looking good and smelling nasty. Will be a great nightcap smoke. Pardon my ignorance but who or what was the GRGA, I'm sure it was a compliment. It nice to know you can be successful in the south with Indica's

Boris the Blaze,
I hear you about the Mexican Brick. I swore off smoking brick, two years ago, my sources are limited for anything better, cost 130qoz. It's certainly the reason I'm growing. Thank you for the words of encouragement, I'll be over to visit again with you

Looking good. I'm another old geezer, was growing in the Ozarks in the 70's and early 80's but the legal and political climate was too opressive (as well as the weather) so the wife and I migrated to Oregon back in the mid 80's. I remember there being a lot of interconnections between the Ozarks and northern Cal at that time and some truly amazing seeds being produced. I was running a hybrid I got from a friend from Cali that was harvested around Labor Day, out of the ground before the cops got serious about looking.

These days I have a permit from the state hanging in my greenhouse, still have to worry about theft but nice to be able to chat up the local cops without having to worry. If it gets stolen I can file a police report, what a strange world, eh? One thing about getting older, we've all got enough problems to qualify for a med card.

Hi There,
Been away for a few days. Thought I'd post a few more pictures. The Nirvana Afghani is supposed to be real stinky, so far the only odor is when you touch the plant. I'm also puzzled because the Afghani don't look very indica. The Durban are easily sativa, but a couple of the Mexican Bagseed don't look Sativa at all.
Who would of thought that the spreading of the cannabis gene pool would have exploded.

Jydsk
Everything is looking good your way. Will check back with you after my next visit. Thanks for stopping by.

Bob Jones,
I hear you loud and clear about the oppressive climate, both legal and weather. When I was younger I didn't give a rats ass. Now that I'm older I more aware of the negative consequences. Congratulations on living where you are at least protected by state law. Hopefully the day will come when we all don't have to live with the threat of prosecution. If I can find a secure place to grow I would like to try my hand at a sativa that would be finished by the end of August thru the first two weeks of Sept. without losing any of the sativa punch, trippness. I tell my wife all the time that I could get a med card if we moved to the states where it was legal, Your right we have aquirred a few problems as a result of the aging process that is helped by cannabis. Thanks for stopping by.

So now wouldn't be the time for you and your friends to put on antlers and run through woods playing Thumper does Bambi? lol Be very safe, AO. Hope no one finds or messes with your plants. We wouldn't have this thread to read then.
