Hey Blynx,

Got a question:
how do you replace those lens they arent just screwed there mine wont move do I have to cut it off with something or?

thx!

That's getting pretty damn close to 0.5 gpw which ain't bad for mystery plants, top work!
:thank you:

i think when you get above half a gram per watt you dont need a hps, thats about what beginners get under their hid setups, the quality under led is already proven so its just a matter of fine tuning to get above the 1g/w :woohoo:

It's so much better then CFL option for me, lower temperatures and a bit higher humidity - that is what i was looking for :thank you:

p.s. How is that strain smelling? Full of fruity/candy notes? I like both strains so i'm asking  nugs are heavy looking !

Awesome thread guys! A cheap, easy and effective way to get started and achieve ~0.5GPW on your first grow. Considering you can switch out different spectrums and reduce wattages during hotter weather or increase the wattage during colder weather to suit your needs. A very valuable thread. Should definately be stickied as aforementioned in the thread. :).

Hey Blynx,

I just recently tried removing them for the first time, tried drilling and levering them off as someone mentioned in the thread and only succeeded in breaking the yellow top section off one of the LEDs when the screw driver slipped, so half the bulb no longer works.

I had the most success with just squeezing a flathead screw driver between the base and the plastic lens and twisting it, the lens is pretty soft so the screw driver does bend them a bit.

I just made my way around the bulb inserting and twisting the screw driver until the silicone caulking inside was stretched/broken enough to just pull the lens off with my hands.

I ordered some LED E27 Grow lights that will be here in 5-10 days. For now, I'm using some CFLs to supplement daylight because my lean-to greenhouse is in open shade until 3PM... and because I damaged my babies foliarly with what is probably a too-strong spray and the remaining living leaf tissue needs the extra light in order to promote cellular growth and repair.

Dude the key is to drill through both sides of the dome, you don't even have to put the holes close to the join if you're worried about damaging the LEDs. Put a long screwdriver through both holes and twist. Don't drill one hole and then use the circuit board for leverage.

What a great thread! I got the bug & thought this is a good idea to use for early veg & ordered a 6 pack of bulbs on amazon for $20, I also found a cool 5 bulb socket & decided to give it a try $12 & i already had the socket. The globes on the lights were a bit of a pain to pop off at first trying to just muscle them off, i had to use a hack saw to cut into the base of the globe a little then plugged them in let them heat up a bit stuck a flat head screw driver in the cut slot & twisted it & they popped right off.
Heres my little setup i just literally got done putting together.
