great looking sog. nice and dense with fat colas.

I too had a hard time reading trichome ripeness. It seems the leaves had alot of amber but the calyxes were different. Also I harvested some early buds and looked at them under flouro light and saw a lot more amber than I did under the hps ( a "duh" moment.)

Lookin good Zeus, you'll be a pro in no time if this is your first go.

Can't wait to see some dried shots and smoke reports from the Viper :yummy:

As usual, thank you all for the compliments. I am very proud of my first grow. I really do feel as though I have a knack for this.

I just wanted to comment on the Indica/Sativa yield question that I asked above. I know a lot of you have theories as to why my G13xBW Indicas seem like they will yield so much less than they're Sativa sisters. I'm gonna wait on my judgement until Monday, when I chop them. The more I think about it, the more I am confused by the differences between Sativa and Indica, and just the way the buds grow. I have a feeling that when all is said and done, the G13xBWs will yield about the same as the other strains. I just think that they just look smaller, and my noobness is making me think that there's not much bud. I'm thinking that even though the Indica buds look smaller, they might end up being the same weight as the tall Sativa buds. I'm counting the days until Monday. :woohoo:

Very good point NCZ - Indicas typically have denser buds than thier Sativa cousins, so the buds may be smaller, but pack more weight.

Zeuss, Basically there are several things different between sativas and indicas.
1. Flowering time- Indicas usually take less time for the buds to be mature enough to harvest.Usually Commercial growers grow indicas or mostly indicas...that way they can get a extra crop or 2 each year..cuz of the shorter flowering times.
2. Look- Indicas are usually shorter, and have wider leaves.
3. High- Pure indicas give off more of a couchlock high, sativas more of a soaring "up" high. From what i understand, THC gives u the soaring high, where as CBD gives off more of the couch lock high, thus i belive idicas have more of a CBD to THC ratio comparfed to that of a sativa.
4. Internodal length- usually indicas grow more squat and there nodes are shorter between nodes.

so many strains out there are indica/sativa crosses it's kinda hard to tell the difference...at least in my experiences. If you truley wanna see the noticable differences, u'll pry have to get a pure indica and a pure sativa...grow them out...and notice how different they are.

You have a great thread here NCZ.
Way to take control of an amazing first grow. Looks like you spent the proper time doing research and spending what you needed to spend. Great Job.

Looking forward to watching your grows here on IC.

 Hey Everyone!

Thanks for stopping in. I'm really excited because I just took some pictures and I'm staring at one in complete disbelief that I grew something that looks like this. Anyways.........

NiteTiger Thanks. We'll find out for sure in 4 days. :woohoo:

heavyTHC Thank you for letting me know that G13 is not known as a yielder. I was not aware of this. Regardless, I am really psyched to smoke the legendary G13.............xBlack Widow.

Opt1983 Good to see ya again. Thanks for all the details. I still won't truly know what's going on until I chop the G13xBWs. They have so much vegetation, you can barely see what's going on in the middle. Once I strip them down, it will be clear to me.

TML16 Thanks a ton. It's nice to hear compliments like that. I am truly beginning to see the fruition of all my research, effort, and love of cannabis.

Now, for an update. I'm leaving town tomorrow for a friend's wedding. I get back on Sunday night. When I wake up Monday, it's choppin time. :woohoo:
I just finished feeding the girls. They'll be fine on their own until I get home Sunday. So my next post will be harvest pics. While feeding tonight, I got some really good pics.

Scroll slowly, cause the last one is friggin killer if I do say so myself.

Here's the new scrubber I bought. Phenomenal product. Worth every penny.

Love Potion at day 55

This is a shot I like to call Cola City

Here's a better picture of my shelf. The plant on the right is a Willie Nelson, as is the one behind her. I like to call them The Twins, because they look so alike. To the left of her is a G13xBW, and the other three are all around her. It's hard to see all of them. As you can see, while on the shelf, there is virtually no light being blocked by the taller Sativas around them. They have that whole back-left corner to themselves, and they are pretty close to the lights.

Here's a shot of the Willie Twins

Willie Nelson cola with no flash

And.....finally. This is a close up of one of the Willie Nelson Twins cola. You can see that her calyx's have swollen like a mofo. I still just can't believe that I grew this plant. :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop: And on that note, I'll check in with you guys on harvest day.

Peace

Ya man, i remember my first grow. One day im sittin there chillin, i go out of town for a couple dayz, come back and im like "wtf". all my buds were almost double in size...oozing resin, swollen calyxs' , it's crazy how they do that isn't it ? lol But, one thing that alwayz sucks for me come harvest time is...u'll have a bud the size of your arm..but when it's all said and done...once it dries it tightens up to half the size! It's ok though! it all does the same thing when it's rolled into a optimo peach rillo! :p -Opt

hear hear !

have a fun chopping day and although you'll be smoking scissor hash and quick-dryed bud tonight, its going to rule having primo after 5 weeks of drying/curing.

there should be some mr. rogers type character that just walks in to your room and says "good job, sport."

Well i think i can say for everyone that you have done a wonderful job zeuss! Congrats on your first harvest, with many more to come. You have a very good understanding of how this plant works thus far due to your countless reading. You write your experiences very well also, and i think we all our looking forward to the many threads to come from you. you are just getting your feet wet, but im sure we can only see better things from you in the future! Have fun with that harvest, and may you get baked as hell! :) -Opt

bamboo stakes are the way to go zeuss...your grow looks great, and you have a great attitude...So all is grand!! :) You will be teaching people before too long ;)

Thanks a ton everyone. I can only post very quickly. I need to get to the airport to get my car. It's a long story, but I flew out of town this weekend, and when I landed at home, I realized I left my keys in my hotel in the other city!!! They fed-exed em to me, and now my friend is giving me a ride to the airport parking to get my car. This sucks!! Harvest went great. More than I thought. I decided to water cure two plants, and jar cure two plants. So half are already in water, and half are drying. I'll post pics when I get back with my car. I didn't even bother weighing. I only care about the dry weight of the final product.

Peace

I have some pics. Like I said, two plants were watercured, two plants are drying. To dry the buds, I am using the same rubbermaid I used to root my fresh cuttings. I just removed and unplugged the light bulbs, layered a pie-drying rack inside, and plugged in the CPU fan. There are holes at the bottom of the rubbermaid, and it is lifted a few inches off the ground for intake. I place the lid on to keep it dark. This way, I can keep the drying stinky buds in my growroom with the scrubber. The gentle flow of air from the CPU fan exhaust should be enough to prevent mold, but not so much that the buds dry too quickly. We'll see how it works out. I'll check it out and take more pics of the drying buds when my lights go back on.

I picked the best one for reveg. Since I plan on scrogging the revegged plants, I chose the mutant plant for the reveg. I say mutant, because I overwatered her early in veg, and instead of on main stem, she split into two, sort of in the shape of a "Y". Both of her two stems yielded as much, if not more than her one-armed sisters. In the pics below, you can tell she yielded more than the other. There are more stems in the jar as well, but trust me, even without the stems, the mutant produced much more. She seems a perfect candidate for a scrog reveg. I'll post some pics of what I left on her in prep for a reveg. Here's some pics. More later. Peace

!st plant cut down. I cut most of the stems off the buds. She's already in water for a watercure. I flip the jar every hour so no buds float for too long. I didn't have anything to put in jar to weigh them down.

Drying rack in rubbermaid. Buds are from one plant only.

The jar on the right is from the mutant I chose for reveg. I left more stems on her buds for some reason. Just trying different things since this is my first time.

Here's all my trim, my silkscreen sieve, and my clippers. The trim is still too wet for a good sieve, but I'll have some primo kief soon.

Closeup of a freshly manicured bud. I'll have some better closeups later.

Peace

hows the refferman strains?

It's my first grow, so I don't have anything to compare it with, but if you look at some of my pics, and the fact that this is my first time, I'd say that's a big :yummy: thumb up for Reeferman strains. I'll have a smoke report within a a week, thanks to the speed of a watercure. :woohoo:
