ok i am still kicking first time in 30 years i spent new years eve sober yet i woke up at 5 am and felt like i drank a hole 5th of wishkey but feel a lot better today other than a throbbing head ache and a lil chest pains but what every this is its one scary ass sickness never in life had i had such chest pains but i made it to see 2007 so happy news years every one

I used MDF wood to build my box for everything except the back. It's 3/4" Inch I think or 5/8" Inch. Either way, I wouldn't go cheap on it. If you craft it well enough, you'll be able to put locks on it and ensure that only you have access to it. I wouldn't go cheap on that part. Maybe even get some special drill bits and screws for the exterior just for extra security. In any case, I just used something thin on the back to seal it. It's only 1/2" but it did the job.
70/100 Watt? I wouldn't bother using something that small. That is, if you intend to build everything else as instructed. Really a 150w is what the box was designed for and if you intend to construct it, I would suggest you use one or even a 175w. Although, CFL's can be very versatile. You might be able to do it using 6 or 8 CFLs. Would be a lot of work though because you would need to have the ability to adjust the height. But I do think it could be done.
Otherwise, you might want to stop by the red greenery and build his cheapo box. It has very similar results and can be built completely for less than $150. Probably a lot less since you've already got the CFL's you would need. Hope that helps man.

thanks durban...and ive got one of red boxes already...works alright except having to move the plants up to the light...i was looking at the lower watt hps cuz this box is only temp ytill i move next year. when i move ill prolly go with a 400 or so and do a closet grow or somehting. jusat wanted 2 boxes to grow in so i can keep a mother...growing out from seed and finding out they are all males sucks big time lol. locks arent needed as nobody come to my house. but thanks for the rerst. i was thinking of putting the hps in there with some cfls on the sides or somehting. just trying to get an idea of how much wood ill need

And DP the measurements you posted near the beginning of this thread, are they accurate? I think I remember Stevr saying something about too many parts or something.. maybe I'm too high, Well sorry for rambling on but this thread is awesome.

yeah i see i am all most at 420 kind of cool well if you use the oriagal measurement i think the side is a inch off sorry hard for me to recall right now i am still feeling very bad but me and durbins box are not to the oringanal spec's mine is real close but i think its time that we make a cut list thats is right for this box i will try to work on that as soon as i am up to it.. i feel so high now and have had not any thing to smoke in a wile now as soon as i get the cut list i will hand it over to ganzs to post on his sticky of the oringal box

I have posted these before but I thought I would share again.
This is my NGB style box with my own modifications.
It is constructed out of 2 sheets of 49"X98" 3/4" high quality MDF. I would have prefered to use plywood but my funds at the time did not permit it. However, the MDF construction has proved to be an excellent choice in retrospect. In addition to the two sheets you will need to find in scrap or buy a half sheet for the middle section divider.
The drawings show accurate dimensions for the cutting of the sheets. There will minimal waste if cut properly. I had all my wood cut at HD- they did a fine job using there plainer saw. The demensions of the cab were designed to use 250 w hps in the flower chamber although a 400 would be better.
The cab uses a Dayton 265 with a DIY carbon filter.
I used piano hinge on the doors. Stanley cabinet locks. Window felt around doors for light leaks and sealing for negitive pressure (vacuum) created when the doors are closed.
I also used 1X2 strips in the corners to strenghten up the cab and give you something to drill/screw or nail into.
I built the cab using the vent system originally designed- THIS A BAD VENT SYSTEM.
I have plans to revamp mine to the following vent system design.
Anyway, thought I would add this (again) for others to use.
There is alot of info that I just did not document so just consider this the basic box from which you can incorporate your own ideas and others as well.
Again, refer to the vent system drawing for a better ventilation system.

Lizard King - I love the quote! That's one of my fav movies. Discovered it by accident at the video rental place. In any case, I don't suggest using the original design by any means unless you intend to duplicate it exactly which would be difficult. The big flaw of it is that it doesn't naturally have a carbon filter or space for one. I think it would be wise to spend some time planning and getting all the equipment you'll need prepared, then plan the box AROUND the equipment.
Gantz - Thanks for your assistance. I would really like to see this cab mastered. Hopefully with everyone working together we can come up with something really nice.
minds - Thanks for reposting/documenting that info. You have probably my fav version of the NGB box I think although I would like to use a different reflector. My intentions are to rebuild this whole thing once we've all collaborated and designed something really wicked stealth and convenient. I think you have some great ideas there with the ventillation. That was probably the second poorest flaw in the design. Thanks again man.

man i wish i could help but i am not doing well the chest pains are killing me hope to know more this after noon got to go see my doc but i am fixing to be bank rupt i am staying with my mom for a wile till i find out how bad i am i am hoping i dont have lung canser as well i will try to keep evey one updated when i can get to a computer but if for some reason i dont re turn i wish every one the best.

Durban: Boondock Saints is one of the best movies ever, I've watched it so much I had to buy a new disc the old one kept skipping, lol.
I just found out that my grow area is about 11 inches short, so I will be re drawing this box so that the mother and electrical boxes are on top, will also be adding a space to dry buds and a spot of the carbon filter, soon as I figure out the exact measurements I'll post up a sketch of it.

hey guys i am still hangin in there hope to find out whats wroung with me in th next few days but after 30 years of making other rich i am now a pile ofcrap my doctor kick me out of his office cuz i no longer have ins. or money to pay him or trips to the heart doc. but to let every one know what going on with me my heart start raching for no reson and my blood prusser gos up making me very edgie whenit hit it feel like ur dieing right no i am staying with my mom for a bit till i find out how bad o shape i am in hope to be bck home in a few days when i can get more computer time since my mom dont like her phone line tied up i will try to keep every one updated on my health soon

Stevr - Man you need to get better and soon. I hope things turn around for you soon. Maybe you could get rid of some of your stash to help pay for things. It is kind of an emergency. In any case, like POMH said, my prayers are with you too.
well i am still hanging in there even know at time i feel like i might be taking my last breath
really make me mad is i am sitting on a lot of buds but scared to smoke any its racy as hell any ways and i don't need that adding to my all ready buzz thats don't seem to go a way i realy dont need this now my mom is careeing for me and i should be caring for her as she has colon canser and is going tru chemo and not to metion the fack i am out of work and will soon not be able to make my mortage payment and not even shure at this point if i can every work again but no sice in worrie till i find out where i stand hopefully they can treat what is wrounf with me so i can get back to work soon or at lest put a end to this worrieing but funny my mom told me to go to the er so i could have peace of mind lol and what i get for it they got a peace of my ass instead and didn't tell me one dam thing but go home and see my doc so may be thats a good sign they didn't find any thing bad wrong but as of now i am staying with my mom and she trying her best to keep me heathly which means she cutt my beer supply off lol and eating oat meal for breakfast yuck oh and yeah cussing me out for going out side for a smoke but let this be a warning to every one on eating right and taking better care of one self dont waite till ur having major problem as it may be to late.
