Is that duct tape or some sort of waterproof tape, Buzz? I guess another name for it would be redneck engineering, but u consider yourself more hippy than redneck.
How much did the fix set you back? Did you watch him do it? U seem pretty handy, maybe next time something like that happens u can do it yourself. Get 2 pipe wrenches turning in opposite directions to unscrew a sticky connection so ur not putting too much stress on the network of pipes, that's probably the hardest part, getting it unscrewed. But i totally understand leaving most things to the pro's, like u said u could cause further damage trying to diy.

The tape is a silicone stretch tape. When it is stretched it adheres to itself. I used JB Weld Water Seal putty under it first then I stretched and wrapped the repair. It slowed the spraying leak from the valve body but it was still leaking steadily. I figured the clamp might work to slow the leak. It did.

I tried to fix it myself. The funky looking stuff on the tank it over spray from PB Blaster and Free All. I soaked everything that had a pipe thread with both. Pipe wrenches and a giant crescent wrench from the tool box came out. The pipe union was the key to the repair but I could not break it loose. I wedged one wrench in place to hold one side and the other wrench was positioned so I could whack it with an engineer hammer. I took three swings and then stopped. I know what happens when old plumbing is whacked with a hammer.

I let the plumbers do their work in peace, but only after talking about what they were going to do. They broke the pipe at the union and rebuilt the run from the tank. There is a ball valve on the line now and the old tee fitting will now serve as a drain for the pressure tank.

The repair cost $226, and it took a little over an hour from start to finish. Best money I have spent in a while.

the ones they showed are dark red/ prpl colored, so i guess you still have some time to wait before picking them

I have not eaten a beautyberry... yet. I did not know they were edible until we started talking about them. The berries when ripe are the purple color shown in the link. I think by the end of September there should be some ripe berries. There will be pictures.

U just know when DB reaches 300lbs again he's going to decide he wants to become vegan again and then on a vegan diet lose 50lbs, before going back to meat and gaining it all back. Im here for the show.
Then again he was 400lbs before when he was on the med that made him blow up so he's practically svelte compared to before.

Yeah, i think movado's are 4 figures and up, didnt know seiko's were that expensive but ill take Hawk's word for it.
Like Pops said, a lot of watch wearers wear smartwatches now, even Hawk does too. Nowadays a mechanical watch is more like jewelry, lets people know how much $ and style you have.
Samsung came out with a smart ring, Hawk, whatchu think about that?

Are your mom's creatinine and sodium levels somewhat stable at least? So long as theyre not getting worse maybe that's the best you can hope for now.
If she's well enough to cook that's encouraging. Maybe that asian slaw would go good on some tacos or grilled meat.

Sounds like Buzz gave it the ol' college try, it was a good thing he stopped when he did and just did a hack patch. Paid less than $250 to fix it which is a good deal for 2 plumbers for an hour. Let them cut/break the pipe and rebuild it from there. Those old screw type gate valves are prone to rust, once they get a couple decades old or more theyre usually ready to be replaced by the lever type ball valve. I wonder if there's any other old valves on Buzz's property that could stand to be replaced.
And you still had water the whole time it was leaking, didnt have to go without showers/toilets for the day or so waiting for the plumber?

Other than berries do u have a vegetable garden, Buzz? Grow some peppers, tomatoes, zucchini etc?

i have no idea what she was up to, she just called me one day and old me she cut herself bad and went to the dr, but they just wrapped it
the next day she says she cant move the tip of her finger
we both knew it was bad and when she went back they scheduled her to see a specialist (oh yeah, the hunky one) the next day

It was last year sometime, or maybe the year before, i think some psychotropic med DB was on made him gain a ton of weight, maybe he wasnt 400 but he was close?
So being closer to 250 isnt anorexic but heck of a lot better than weighing over 25 stone or more. That's 350lbs for u americans.
He said he went vegan there for a while, around the time he started walking a lot. He likes animals so didnt want to eat meat or animal products for a while, but once he stopped being vegan he's made up for lost time, apparently.

Not too much in the way of NFL news lately. HBO hard knocks is releasing episodes of the Giants off season, including their draft and losing Saquon in free agency to the eagles. Theyre going to switch when training camps open and cover the bears, ill have to watch those episodes even if theyre usually not that exciting.

Its FUCKING SLY MAN! if i was rich id buy one of his cheaper watches. i think i like his Panerai Slytech the most. most of those were pretty gaudy clunkers and im not a fan of the Rolex Datejust. i hate the bezel. makes it look cheap

Semi finals tomorrow in the galeic football..

First up is Armagh v Kerry.. 5.30- Croke Park

Sunday; the second of the semi finals, Donegal v Galway; Croke Park 4pm...

Going on current form and previous form, a wise man could be tempted to back both Galway and Kerry to meet in the final. I'm not so sure, the tribes men (Galway) will fancy themselves against Donegal, having made it to the semis with some eye catching performances, Donegal on the other hand have underperformed but still they find themselves in the semis.. Maybe they are saving themselves for the expected onslaught from Galway... (tough one to call) my heart is with Galway having spent most of my life there. Donegal will be no easy pickings either and they won't be going down with out a good scrap..

Tomorrow's game will see Armagh pit there wits against the kingdom (Kerry) the majority of people I have spoken with say Kerry will coast this game and rack up a high score against Armagh. In fairness they should sweep Armagh to the Side and go on to win the All-Ireland outright. I fancied Kerry from the start of the campaign (especially after Dublin getting knocked out) Armagh have some serious skilled ball players so they won't be turning up at Croke Park just to make the numbers up..

One would think Galway and Kerry for the win, its Semi final day so anything could happen

We polished of the rest of the bacon and cabbage (I give up waiting on the Mexicans) boiled ham sandwiches in work for 3 days on the trot, a man's gotta know his limitations...
