Is it anthony? Thought it was Jacoby.

He looked real impressive early this season, him and garappolo made you think that yeah, the patriots are cheaters but they sure know how to identify and develop QB talent.

I think if the D gets their act together you'll see them play at least .500 or better ball, maybe this is just a midseason swoon. Darius leonard is still a stud, theyll again have the most cap space next year for free agents. Ty hilton being injured the last month didnt help the offense, but zach pascal looks like a solid receiver, more than funchess anyway.

ill see what the local market has as far as the giardiniera, im hoping i can get pretty close
i meantioned the sandwiches to the mrs and she went nuts! she was so excited to make them and we have this whole meal planned around good bread with meat!
/the girl will be in town for the holidays so im making her some polenta or she can have her gluten free bread
thanks for the ideas brother and i cant wait to plate this up!
the colts had one of the best no name defenses in the league last season and started this year off strong
but somewhere they seem to have lost a lot of swagger and are on a definite down turn
i duobt we will see luck come out of retirement but j.brisette is a decent qb and has a lot of potential
like you said, fish' lets see where he goes in the next year or two

Kinda hard to describe Baba.oily for sure.i use it on lots of stuff.i like it on sub sandwiches, gyros, lots of stuff.adds a kick.not a spicy kick.more like savory.

That stuff you got pops would probably be similar.id use it if it's all I had.add some banana peppers and it will be good.id put the pepperocini on the on sandwich.i wouldn't mix it while the meat is cooking with the giardiniera

Lol, it's all good, I thought jacoby had a middle name of anthony for a moment. Maybe you were thinking of AN-drew luck. Hard to imagine what this season would be like if he were playing. Im not sure, Pop, but i think if he's fully healthy he might give it another go, he's still only 31, there are qb's 10 years older than him that are still playing well.

Heh, you must be part italian Hawk, if you put giardiniera on all sorts of stuff. Or at least a true chicagoan. I cant say that ive ever put giardiniera on anything but italian beef, a couple times ive gotten it as a pizza topping, where it's not bad, ur right, it's like banana peppers, adds some zing but not too much spice.

picture.php

Made it again last night, using about 3lbs of ribeye, little more than half a 12oz jar of banana peppers, 1-2 tbs minced garlic, 1-2tsp dried oregano, 1-2tsp salt, fresh ground black pepper.

picture.php

After 8hrs on low, looks a proper mess.

picture.php

Shredded up, looks better.

picture.php

On some homemade bread i made (wasnt good, too dense, wanted a lighter crumb).

This one wasnt as good as before, think i used too much of the banana pepper juice as the au jus tasted too vinegary (should be more beefy than vinegary). Next time ill just use garlic plus italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme and rosemary if you have them, although only use half as much thyme and rosemary as theyre stronger flavors), S+P, and omit any peppers or pepper juice. Still, it smelled great while cooking, and still tasted pretty good if you got past the vinegar taste. Better bread would have helped, anything that's chewy is good to absorb the juices without becoming sloppy.

You made Italian beef with ribeye? Even I don't have the balls to do that.afraid I'd fuck it up.looks good though.

Not Italian.i just like peppers and pickled veg's.i got this gyro meat I make sandwiches with and giardiniera is awesome with it.i just like the stuff.

I find it actually easier to make Italian beef with ribeye, especially in the slow cooker. The extra fat makes it really tender and soft when you shred it apart at the end. Italian beef is usually made with cheap, lean cuts of meat, like top round, roasted with water in an oven till medium rare, then cooled and sliced thin on a deli slicer and placed back in the water/juice which is heated but not to boiling. I bought a cheap meat slicer once years ago but havent used it in ages, cant even find it now, so making it in a slow cooker and shredding it is the best I can do.

That’s cool, I should probably try to use giardiniera more often myself, especially on sandwiches. Are you into hot sauces? For a while there I was trying to get into some spicy hot sauces, but my heat tolerance is wimpy and I never really got past tabasco level of heat.

Bears lost on SNF 26-3 at home to the chiefs, the offense got shut down by a pretty good but not great chiefs defense and got booed by the home fans most of the game. Eh, what else is new?
Now that I think about it, I was thinking the ravens would make the superbowl out of the AFC, but the chiefs are right up there and beat the ravens once earlier this year. Plus the Pats are always dangerous and may be getting their offense right. Hard to pick who’s going to represent the afc in the superbowl, but ravens have home field advantage so might as well go with them…

oh man! that looks grinding baba'!11!
so thats just with the bananna peppers and beef, roasted slow with some seasonings?
it looks awesome and you describe it well, i can almost taste the tang through the screen my man!
you can always lighten the sauce with a touch of sugar to ease the sour and make some salt to bring it back to savory, but it looks so good
bit is the gardinerra lighter or is it tangy like the peppers?
/i read something about how thre are bannana peppers roasted beef and the italian style beef sandwiches
im going to make this brother
im going to use some decent beef, (maybe not the prime rib but a good tri tip roast or wahtever is one sale) and get a jar of the gardinerra
/im hoarding the jar of "italian garden vegitables" i have just in case
its going to be an awesome meal and ill be sure to let you know how it turns out

"LOL, shows how much attention I'm paying this season. It is Jacoby."
we all know fish has the walls of his bedroom covered in pics of brisette and the colts
/thats how he practices kissing
i thought they were a playoff team even after losing luck, but they seem to fall off somewhere around mid season and never got back on track
/maybe someone who follows them can shed some light?
rams pretty much closed the book on the season this weekend against the 9rs
you could see that thier season was over a few weeks ago, but the math just isnt going to work out and they are done for the year
/i wonder what they will do over the off season to improve?
whom ever makes the schedule for the nfl is doing a great job!
tonight we get to see the pack and minni battle it out and then next week we get to watch sea v sf for top spot
im sure im missing a game here but it seems like there are a couple good games coming up
merry christmas everyone!

I'm not even going to address the Bears game yesterday.other games were ok though.did I hear right? Wentz has a 128 million dollar contract? And Breeze has a new record? Didn't catch it all.

Yeah I love hot sauce but it fucks my stomach up something fierce.i usually get green or jalepeno hot sauce cause they got taste and are mild.i don't buy regular Tabasco but if there's nothing else on the shelf I'll buy the green Tabasco sauce.its ok.regular Tabasco is just not good at all.as far as those million Scoville hot sauces go that's just being mean to yourself.ive tried them but I don't buy them.i can handle it but I gotta take prescription stomach pills or I'd be writhing in pain.i don't have much variety being in Lee county but my go to is Cholula jalepeno hot sauce.tastes good on most things

Forget what I said about ML parlays - a loser in each one, 0-4. 10-6 ATS. In other words, a net loss which would have been a gain if not for the parlays.

The system said take 0-9 Choke Cousins. Everyone else knows better, and especially know not to bet on both the spread and win. 139 yards of offense at home. He made Dak look like Joe Montana. Garrett was a genius having injured Dak throw 44 times and Zeke run 13 times, that went way better than less than half a yard per run for MN against GB's #25 rush defense.

Yeah, that was with sliced banana peppers, the juice in the jar and minced garlic, oregano, S+P.
That’s a good point, using some sugar to cut the tanginess of the juice. Totally forgot about that.
I’m going to make this again, without any peppers/juice, just with Italian herbs and S+P. Will post pics soon.
The giardiniera I had was the hot kind, ill post pics of that, but even though it’s got some vinegar in it, the ‘juice’ it’s in is pretty much all oil, so not as tangy as banana peppers or pepperocini’s, at least the juice isn’t.

Even when luck retired the team was confident with brisket at QB, he didn’t do so bad filling in for luck 2 years ago, and then last year he got to sit and learn the offense for a whole season, and they still have one of the best O-lines in the game, so they were certain he was going to do much better this time around. And he was playing very well, actually fantasy wise he was a pretty solid QB, but the kicking game continued to suck and the D fell off a lot, and he got hurt mid-season and was more inconsistent when he came back. They got some extra draft picks and a lot of cap room, so they can make a lot of
changes this offseason if they want, including a different QB if they feel brisket isn’t good enough.

The rams will need to take a long hard look in the mirror this offseason. For better or worse mcvay is stuck with goff for the next 3-4 years, so he’s going to have to figure out ways to bring out his best more consistently. Fwiw, I saw some of that niners game on Sat, and he looked decent throwing on the move without getting his feet completely set. So apparently that’s a part of his game he’s working on, opposing D’s know to knock him off his spots to disrupt their passing game, so if he can accurately throw while scrambling he can get back to an elite level again. Also getting more talent on their O-line will help a lot, they’ve actually been playing better recently but still not what they used to be.

Yeah Hawk, Wentz went #2 in his draft behind Goff and is being paid almost as much, he also hasn’t been quite as good as he was 2 years ago but he’s been more consistent of late. He’s had a lot of injuries on offense too so that hasn’t helped him. Brees has the career touchdown record, passing peyton, although Brady is just a few td’s behind him, but brady has had a bad year by his standards so who knows if he’ll ever surpass brees.

Some people don’t like vinegary hot sauces, I like both styles and like that green jalapeno tabasco sauce when I find it in restaurants, not too spicy and has good flavor. I agree, the hotter the sauce gets, imo you really don’t taste anything besides the heat after the burn settles in. Ive heard good things about the cholula sauces, used to have a bottle of the standard red one around here before the woman threw it out in one of her frequent refrigerator ‘purges’.

Yeah, I figured the Vikings would at least be able to run on the packers, but the packers run D has tightened up recently, they shut down the bears run game a couple weeks ago. Green bay has a good run game and a good defense, and a hall of fame QB to fall back on if all else fails, they have a pretty decent chance to make the superbowl too.
And ur right, something about kirk cousins and Monday night football, he’s 0-8 now. I actually drafted him with a late round pick in one of my leagues, dropped him after the first month when he was playing so terrible, of course right after that he started throwing 3-4 td’s a game and was hot all the way up until this week. Well, at least they have a playoff spot, and they’ll get Dalvin cook back too for the playoffs.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Yup, packers beat the vikes on MNF so they win the division and the vikes are locked into the 6th seed. The pack still have a 1st rd bye and/or home field through the playoffs left to contend for, Minny may rest their starters against the bears since win or lose they have a playoff spot.

So, stopped by the mexican grocery store last week and loaded up on some spices, mostly italian herbs but also some achiote/annatto spices that Pop uses for pork and spanish rice. Also picked up a jar of hot giardiniera, the only brand they have, which is marconi. Didnt want the hot, it's a bit too spicy for my taste, but unfortunately they dont carry the mild (maybe it's not popular with the clientele?).

picture.php

Got about 4-4.5 lbs of ribeye in the slow cooker.

picture.php

Generous heapings of seasonings on there: around 2.5 tsps of oregano and basil, and 1.5 tsps of thyme and rosemary, and 2 tbps of minced garlic, and 3 tsps of salt and 1tsp of black pepper.

picture.php

After 7 hrs on low.

picture.php

Shredded up. Used some kitchen shears on this also as it wasnt fall apart yet.

I may have went a little overboard on the seasoning, there's tons of flavor but it almost overwhelms the meat, still i was on the right track, if i had to do it over i'd probably cut the italian seasonings by a third or even a half, maybe the salt by a third, keep the garlic (cant have too much garlic) and black pepper the same. Nevertheless, it was very tasty and i have plenty of leftover seasonings to do it again.

Yeah, ive made italian beef 3x so far in the crockpot, and enjoyed it way more than turkey and ham with sides that i usually have for holiday dinners. Still, maybe next year ill go back to the traditional holiday foods.

Colts D and special teams came up huge vs carolina, they probably won people some fantasy championships in week 16. If anything, it's pretty certain cam will be back for carolina next year, neither kyle allen or will grier look ready or capable of being a franchise QB. So there ends the hope that cam would suit up for the bears next year.

happy holidays boys!
hope everyone had a great christmas
we ended up visiting friends for the past couple days and just enjoying all the time off

that italian beef looks great baba' and im going to hit up the store and grab some giardiniera and good meat later today
so maybe just add a touch of the italian seasonings?
man, its like you can almost taste it through the screen it looks so good
plus i bet the juices its in are super rich, almost like a beef broth!
so did you have that delicious mix with some nice crusty bread?
/i goign to make some tater tots too!
you are right about the rams being stuck with goff for the next few years, but i dont think its that bad
he is still a developing qb but he has added a couple new facets to his game this season so we will see where he is next year
i think he is better out of the pocket and might be starting to pick up on what opposing defenses are doing so he can make his own reads at the line
i cant believe that its the last weekend of regular season football man
there are a few good game and ill def be rooting for the bears in the early game and the rams finish off their season against the cardinals
/9ers v seahawks is the match up im really excited about

i hope everyone is having a great weekend and ready to send 2019 out in style!
enjoy the games!

Good to see you back, Pop, glad to hear you enjoyed the holidaze.

You can add more than a touch of seasonings, I added a good amount and it was very flavorful but wouldnt say it was TOO much. I suppose you can at first underseason and then add more after it's cooked to taste?
There's a big local bread company around here called turano, they sell their french rolls in sams club and i bought a 12 pack for like 5 bucks, theyre pretty perfect for this type of sandwich, thick chewy bread that can stand up to wet meat. Plus you can dip the outside of the bread in the juice too to make the whole thing even softer and juicier.

It's not a crusty french bread though, not like those typical french loaves you'll find in the bakery section of your grocery. That you probably want to dip also to soften it up, unless you like the crust.

Are you making tots from scratch or frozen? I see restaurants on cooking shows sometimes make tots from scratch, seems like too much work. Fries from scratch can be easy, just slice and fry, although i think it's better to soak them in water first to remove excess starch.

Bears won against a vikings team resting their starters and finished 8-8. Theyre going to need to bring in another QB, someone better than chase daniels, like what tennessee did with tannehill to compete with mariota. So that'll be interesting to see. I guess finishing 8-8 no one's going to get fired, even though the coach and gm bear a lot of blame for this season being way off last year's high.

Rams finished 9-7, still a winning record even though they didnt make the playoffs. Their problem is theyre just too top-heavy, goff donald gurley and now ramsey are all going to be making top dollar, those 4 guys alone probably might take up 40% of the salary cap, leaving the other 60% for the other 50 guys on the roster. They should cut brandin cooks, who was mostly injured this year, but they cant really get out of his contract till 2021. Can you believe it's 2020? Weren't we supposed to have flying cars and a city on the moon by now?

I loved the Miami game today sorry Patriots Fans hehe.

Beast Mode back with a TD but SF's offense is too strong it seems.

It was a great Season and I can't wait for the Playoffs to start next week.

That was a wreckless type of tackle on Semian from Garrett, but I don't think that breaking his ankle was intentional...

It seems like everyone is calling him a dirty player for a few penalties.. I can't remember that ever happening to a premier defensive player so quick.... usually it takes a couple blatant penalties like stepping on a running back facemask or dropping the quarterback on their head (more than once) or kicking a lineman in the nuts... not these lame ass new era rules.... come on now... if he is still making these penalties at the end of the season I can MAYBE see it.. but, right now? give me a break

Well this is a pretty funny statement to review at the end of regular season..... I think I made a few other funny statements a long the way...
