Damn! I just lost a long freakin post I typed up about my freakin current 12/12 grow!! I freekin hate it when that happens!!!!!

Oh freekin well....

This will be shorter than the original, but heres the data:

5 Nirvana Bubblelicious girls.
tall plant on left is 38", the short plant on the right is 30"
flowering for 4 weeks, have 4 more to go.
small containers...5.5" square, 6" tall, with 1.5" of rock in the bottoms.
watered with plain water for the first 4 weeks, using Pure Blend Pro for the last 3
no smell until about 1 week ago, they now have a real sweet grapey gum smell now.
trichomes going gangbusters...even forming on the leaf stems

Hoping they put on some weight in the next 4 weeks. Also included a pic of my caveman lighting set-up.

being that cannabis can acclimatize itself couldnt one breed in this way further increasing yields and potency.

Hey Dude...

So far, they aren't so bad, if I shake them I get some smell, up until a couple of weeks ago I didn't even get much smell if I touched the buds. That changed about 10 days or so ago, now if I touch a bud it smells real real sweet...ummmmmm! Probably will get worse as the plants mature.

For odor control, I am using the vaportronic, which puts out a mix of essential oils. I have the lemon scent...so far, it is doing ok, I think it masks the pot odor. It smells like I just dusted with lemon pledge. If you want to know more about the vaportek products do a search here on IC...there are a few threads devoted to it.

Another odor control is use a bucket and a airstone and pour in some pinesol and water...little pinesol so the bubble stays low and let it run

atmo would know more about this, but basically this method gives you more individual seed plants and generations over time, which is what you want if you're breeding.

I did some strawberry diesel from seed to finish on 12/12. The link is in my sig.

Nice!!

Hey level...

How tall was that plant that yielded 25 frosty grams? It looks like one of my northern lights plants from last grow...stocky! Do you by any chance have any more info on the other 12/12 strawberry D girls your were growin, like how many grams harvest and such?

Fantastic growin dude.

Hey Satghost..

Germ to sex was about 3 weeks for this batch...first one showed at about day 19, the others about 2 days later. Longer than my northern lights last time, those showed at about 2 weeks.

Fantastic growin dude.

The one that yielded 25 grams was 16- 18 inches tall. The other two were stretchier and i had to bend them over a bit. If they werent bent over they would have probably stood 26 - 30 inches tall. They yielded 40 - 45 grams each.

One thing Ive noticed by growing the same strain two different ways (12/12 from seed vs. 4 weeks of veg time) was that the plants on 12/12 from seed seemed to stink less than those that were vegged under 24/0 of light. By the 2nd to 3rd week of life, the diesels under 24/0 were puttin off a good stink. The ones under 12/12 werent smelling until the 4th or even 5th week i think. Anyone else expierenced this? Maybe I'm crazy?
:pointlaug

Anyway, I like growing 12/12 from seed. I'm planning on popping some strawberry d F2s i made and MOD's Kali Dream and they're going under 12/12 straight away.

Good work on keeping this thread going, Hal! And it's great to see atmosphere dropping his knowledge in on it!

Also, I believe I've read that some folks turn the lights to 14/10 to increas yield during the 3rd week of 12/12 from seed? Anyone actually tried this with positive results?

:joint:

i'm blaming the pinner of diesel i just had for this long post....

Have five dutch passion feminised power plant four days from emargence with first set of true leaves.
First time of trying femmed seeds so for the interest put one into flower today and will veg the other four as usual.

Had to nail up a bracket at light level and it looks a bit odd to say the least but its getting high levels of HPS from the start just got to watch i dont fry it.

They will be repotted as needed and will end up in the same size final pot under the same lights.

I can see a real advantage in this method for personal growers with no space for a mother/veg room, and also for those who have no interest in messing with clones.

Many complicated techniques recemended in indoor forums have been developed for use by commercial growers. Commercial growers are basicly running a buisiness, they want the most possible return for money, time, and space used.
A personal grower is usually looking to just stay a bit ahead of their needs, if he uses a 1000w HPS to grow a 1/3 of what a commercial grower could, thats fine. Its sure to be plenty until the next harvest.

Making a stockpile of seeds is easy, one crops worth could last you 2 years. Thats the only real limiting factor in this practice, supply of seeds, easy to fix.

This year I am going to be growing all my outdoor from seeds, the simplicity of seed to bud is lots more fun.
Another advantage with this is that insted of having a few varieties that always come out the same from clone, you have new individuls each harvest, each with its own high, just slighty different from the one before or after, also you would have variety of flavor.

I think I am going to set up my buddy with a system like this, he needs to be able to grow a good stash from the start, but he has a bit to learn about growing before cloning and such should be learned. I can get him rolling along pretty good with this.

Good luck guys!

In line with the sharp end of a 600w sodium about 450mil away and the only place available.
Have grown cherry tomatoes similarly placed before and they did well but will move under the lights when space develops .

When done the right way this method is also interesting for commercial growers ! Doing your own cloning really good needs lots of space to select from a mother (from seed !) or you can use a clone that you know is already good as a mother . cloning yourself always takes more than 3 weeks and a certain amount of space. for maximum performance clones need to root within 8 days ,thats far from easy for most people (although it is possible to root them in 4 days !!)
Ther eare more reasons why the 12/12 from start can yield so well . Why i will try to explain later , i'm in a hurry now .

10 weeks on 12/12 ,no veg time

Atmosphere...

Do you think it is better to grow a large number of plants in one large container, as opposed to growing each plant in its own small container? If so, why do you feel this way?
