Hey G

I'm no fan of spiders either, but I don't mind daddy long legs :chin: There's a couple of spiders in my cab, but as long as they aint touching the girls I don't mind.

I seem to have some mold in one of the main buds on my ECSD, now that I'm worried about :badday:

Wow Pack, now that's some dangerous stuff. I'm sure something less dangerous can be found, perhaps nitroglycerine. Just spray on and throw something at the plant, boom, no more mites. Avid needs to sprayed on using a full blown chemical attack suit. And then left for at least 12 hours before you can go near the plants again. Dangerous to inhale the mist, dangerous to get onto the skin, dangerous to the eyes etc.
Dont get me wrong Pack, I a very gratefull for the suggestion, but Avid is far too dangerous for me to go messing with. I'm not confident around chemicals, as you know I dont even like nutes, poisons on something that I intend to consume, its not something I would try. I'd much rather take a break over the mite months, so next year I'll be stopping in june until september. This year I'm going to continue with a strain with more resistance. And one with less resistance, and we'll see if both make it or not. Only a couple of weeks left on the big smokey girl anyway, so once she's gone, hopefully so will the problem.
Hi Alex, bud rot hey, that's a pisser. I've had trouble with that myself in the past. Nothing you can do except cut it ( and a little area around it) out. Hopefully it wont affect all the buds on your setup.

ROFL..I could see you walking into the grow with a radiation class envirosuit and a bug sprayer..lights on the side of the helmet..
Yeah I might consider using it to clean out the room..maybe a small veg plant..but I wouldn't want it on the buds either..I couldn't smoke it..I would dwell on the thought it's in there..
Pretty much any insecticide is gonna tell you to suit up..especially if the product is from sue happy USA..

I liked the look of those deepsea diving suits they used in the Abys film. I reckon I could handle a few bugs in one of those, maybe even a spider if I got my nerve up, lol.
Yeah, I suppose it could be used to clear a room inbetween grows. Just steralise the whole area. I'm just going to go for daily checks until harvest and a quaranteen on clones taken from her. Daily checks on the youngens and throw anything showing signs straight away over the next couple of weeks..

Hi MGJ & Alex,
The cling film was a bad idea anyway, need to let the soil breath, it goes funny colours otherwise.

 Hi GMT those buds are looking nice bro. :woohoo: They should be ready soon?

I know how you feel about poisonous spiders. :yoinks: when I was cleaning my GH getting ready for this summer grow I felt crawling under my chin. No big deal I just flicked it off. Then I looked on the floor to see what it was and it was the biggest god damn black widow I have ever seen. :yoinks: :yoinks: :yoinks: I don't think Garlic has ever moved so fast? :yoinks: :yoinks: :yoinks: I instantly said F^#k that and went to The hardware store. :Bolt: So you think Zarqawi had it bad? :nono: Try 4 bug bombs set off at the same time!!!!!! :woohoo: I showed those bastards not to mess with Garlic.J/K

Nice grow my friend

Wow Garlic, I couldn't live around spiders capable of hunting people. Here (although all spiders are poisonous), they have a rep for not being able to bite through human skin. I've never really trusted that rep, but I've never heard of anyone dieing from a spider bite over here. I just dont like em, if they could kill me, I'm pretty sure I'd like em even less. If I found a black widow in my grow room, I doubt I'd have stopped at a bug bomb.
Buds should be ready soon, and the little tri is one of only 3 seeds to sprout. I think I made the soil unhealthy by covering it with clingfilm. I planted a few seeds, and most never made the surface, which by then was a greeny white colour rather than the rich black it started off as. So I am hoping for some luck. I only kept the tri baby, and will now think about what to plant next, but they will stay in the paper towels until they look healthy next time, rather than just dropping them into soil.

Thanks MGJ, yep bud to smoke and seeds to plant, turned out pretty succesfull all in all, and best yet, no mites to be seen anywhere.
Thanks Pack, here's another you'll apreciate, the seeds so far from this girl.

I would put up pics of the youngens, but this weed is so stoney, I used up all the space on the camera on the seeds photos, just trying to get the best angle etc. The tri that has been posted as a seedling, is, well, doing something I think, not sure what yet, that may be an interesting plant. Updates when I run out of pre chop samples, or run out of pre chop plant to take more samples from, depending on which happens sooner.

Hey MGJ,
It's been a while since the last update, want to see how those seeds grow? Here they are now, shit pic but only babies so no real issue just to give you an idea of where they are in the growth cycle

Luckily this is a girl, so only 2 months till next harvest :badday: my own fault.

she's a bruised nuts girl. small signs of mite activity, will keep you posted.

Looking great GMT! Glad you have a girl so you don't have to wait to long for some nice bud - the youngin's look fab, and the bigger girl looks fantastic. I'm always taken by the very strong leaf markings on your plants - very striking looking.

Mites? Hmmm - maybe time for pixie ( as in diatomaceous ) dust? A little sprinkle here and there plus a couple sticky traps might keep 'em down a bit...

MGJ, you know it could be time to track down some pixie dust. Now if I could just remember where I left my pixie traps lol.
The big girl also had some problems with yellowing. The heat here made it impossible to run the hps bulb, so I just moved her into the vegging chamber with the clones and little ones, but the light wasn't nearly strong enough for her and 4 days of insufficient light hit her hard. No light at all would have been better for her than semi light. So I trimmed off a lot of leaf edges and yellow branch tops which is when I found a few mites. Hoping that also taking those leaves will help her through.
The new youngens are a little experiment, they look uniform but what effect will one starting in a pot twice the size of the other have on them? I dont know, lets watch.
There is also a tri bruised berry f2 on the go, but I dont think I'll use it for anything as its pretty weak looking.
I do like good leaves on a plant.
