You have been just pressing cold for 60 seconds or at 250f. To put much pressure the plates have to be flat, they will want to conform to any voids where they touch. Maybe you could cut some grooves into the plates so when you put them together you make a trough. Using two sets of plates grooved ones inside another set the same size would give equal pressure, then all you need is the heat. Makes the straightner and a vise look like pretty good tech, except for the parchment...

hair straightener and vice is awesome for the price.

I rosin'd some 120u 4-5* from my last crop and got a very nice yield at least 50% or more. Pressed out the hash then folded into a square then made a little square with a coffee filter and pressed for 5 seconds. I pressed it a second time at 5 seconds again and almost got as much as the first. Smells good cant wait to try it tomorrow.

Hey gang. Maybe one of you guys that are getting 20% from a hair straightener could do me a little favor.

I assume you have the hair straightener on a table and place the parchment in between and press down with a towel or oven mit.

Next time, maybe you could place a bathroom scale under it all and look at how much pressure you are putting on it.

P.S. I just did a 1/2 gram of dry sift in a coffee filter and the filter absorbed every bit. LOL Not a single trace on the parchment. Must say, I am not used to being this inept and something. LOL

Only been drug tested once when I was hired, haven't had a random one yet (knock on wood). One hit on Friday night and that's it. I work out everyday and go extra hard on Saturday and Sunday and being 21 I like to think my metabolism plays a roll. Also drink a shitload of water to the point my pee is clearer than the tap water if that's possible aha. 6'3 and 175 pounds I'm just a little guy.

Thanks, 10 minute stir then quickly sieved onto cardboard and let it sit for 5 days or till dry enough. Looks kind of greasy from an hour drive to a friends house but no complaints over here.

what i do, is get my press set up on the floor, line it up and step on it with my heel directly over the bud. then i step on it with all my weight, grab the edge a couch in one hand and the edge of the coffee table in the other, and lift them both up slightly, then sort of jump on the press to do a sudden wieght shift or two into it.

what i am saying is pretty much, the more pressure the better. your 7% might be because of not enough force.

keep a bottle of quick fix synthetic urine in your pocket/car while you're at work...fuck taking one hit on Friday nights only hahaha...just messin dude, we gotta do what we gotta do. quick fix has worked for me many times, even with lab tests...I just safety pin a sock to my inseam and keep the bottle/hand warmer hanging near my gear.

sorry to get off topic- that rosin does look flame, I posted a shot of some XXX og rosin I made w/ flowers on ig yesterday...it's super tasty, like watermelon sour patch kids almost, pretty strange that it has zero og flavor, considering that xxx cut is pure fueley pine og

here are some stats on a strain which is a red congo x panama red:

7 dense balls pressed at around 240, two presses of around 14 seconds. first press oil very light color, and soft and aromatic.

all weights in grams.

2.48 start

2.00 left after one press

1.80 left after two

0.25 yield on first press

0.05 yield second press

1.8+ .3= 2.1 start dry weight. 14.29% yield + .38 moisture(16.13%)

i am quoting myself to get both tests in one post easily, and also to show the revealing nature of the test, regarding moisture levels.

both tests are with the same strain, same temperature and same estimated pressures and times.


2.44 start

2.13 after one press

1.96 after two

.17 yield on first press

.06 yield second press

1.96+ .23= 2.19 start dry weight. 10.5% yield + . moisture .25

Its a mix of Platinum blue dream, Candyland, SFV OG, 3 phenos of Gods gift x OG13 and Gods gift x Sour blueberry.

color on kief extracts vs bud extracts.. kief always seems to be DARKER. I don't know why.. but with butane.. iso.. and rosin.. all come out darker..

Not sure on the temp but I know the flat iron goes to 450 degrees and I'm using the 1-2 setting out of 10. I would assume somewhere between 100-250 but who knows. When I pressed the 4-5* in the coffee filter not much was left in it, compared to kief there was lots of contaminates left when I opened it up. It all comes down to the quality of what you put in don't expect to put kief in and get gold out but you will surely get a better/cleaner product than the kief IMO. Hence why bubble is always lighter than kief because it higher quality. I saw someone post about dry sift and coffee filter mine did the same. I used the sift from the honey bee trim tray 100 micron screen and everything was absorbed into the filter with not one drop of rosin.

Well my theory was that i was breaking the resin sacks when heating and pressing the kief, making it dark. Wrong again because bubble goes light, my super high quality full melt dry sift goes even darker, so i have to ? the quality idea.

Omg I just realized maybe it's chlorophyll that's making things darker with kief and dry sift as there is lots of little micro bits of broken plant matter in kief and lower grade dry sift.

That might explain why ice water extract comes out a lighter color.

Started trying a little hotter temp 350F and longer squeeze, it is hotter today 80f and it is a bitch to collect it, it is super sticky. I can put it in the fridge or freezer but it warms in seconds, guess I'll wait till morning and try it then...
Went into the room with ac and was able to collect no problem...

Yes I'm talking about bubble hash, I've only tried to rosin sift once and it didn't work well for me.
