Thats weird Reiko i made super lemon haze bho and its so terpy that the lemon smell coming off the slab burns ur nostrils quite harshly.
Rosin is just a different experience, we should enjoy it in addition to bho and bubble! Thank God for sweet lady Mary!

Bruh you can't make rosin without hatin' on BHO.

I like your thinkin' style. Every extract has some merit.

Especially that type of hash made from sweaty female genitalia. Fuckin' danksauce that is.

Simple questions ... treat me gently. Using Keif!!!

What is the best process with a decent press in hand ...

What is the desired temperature to start the process (190)

What is the pressure I am trying to achieve ... for how long?

When do you know it is done and it is time to release the pressure?

Really looking for instructions ... everything is DIY ... I think I've got it ... just want to hear some statistics and solid suggestions ... links to videos where people talk while working

How about field testing ... Anybody have suggestions for quick test before purchasing Kief ... sometimes I want CBD, sometimes I want THC ... don't want to mix them up, sometimes I do.

Looking for a mentor with some knowledge that can be added on

Thanks team THC

I have only pressed sift a handful of times so my opinion is worth however many grains of salt. But, I don't like any bag or filter I have tried. They always seem to absorb more than they yield.

I am pressing small quantities (1 or 2 grams) so maybe it works better with larger presses. However, I have found that if I pre-press the sift with a standard "hash puck-presser" similar to the way I pre-press flowers, that I get a nice puck that doesn't bleed into the rosin.

Like I said, for however many grains of salt it's worth. Most of the peeps here have more experience pressing sift than I. And, most of them use filters or bags.

My kid used to make it with bud in a curling iron, now he has a large hydrolic press in his house.
I have both OGMango and OG Kush breath organic rosin. It just takes a little tiny dab to do yuh

mallita coffee filters available at any convenience stores or grocery stores. I like the #6 because they are the biggest. I pressed 3-9 grams at once. Cut the nicest biggest rectangle out of the filter, make a nice small rectangular puck with your dry sift ( i like to use my press without the heat to prep my pucks) I fold exactly 3 layers of coffee filter.

I then take the press down until it makes contact but without squishing too hard just yet. I give it about 30 sec to a min to warm up ( at 182 F) Then I apply a little pressure, and here is where I think you want the manual press. I press ever so gently, watching the oil oozing out.

The way I do it now is as soon as I have enough rosin to collect, I release pressure, move the puck to a clean parchment and keep pressing.

I have had too many blow outs, and it really sucks, at least if you have some ''clean'' on the side you are not starting over from scratch.

Patience and low temps are key. Keep your cool. Good luck.

I also use Melitta filtres. Pretty handy though I would trade up for a box of squares. Some paper companies have terrible customer service.

You could save a lot of time by wrapping SS mesh over a single layer of paper. It hardly absorbs any rosin, I'd almost wager less than two additional layers of coffee filtre.

The way I described is sort of my hilly billy way of doing it. I am small scale so it works for me thus far.

I am experimenting in pressing fresh bubble hash, experimenting with ways to quick dry, but so far I am pressing hash that is still really wet instead of letting it oxidize too much. In the summer months I am gonna look into getting a freeze dryer...

I ll post some pics, the stuff is so gooey and terpy, a little dark though even though I press at low temps, gotta improve my bubble hash skills too...

I was getting at that maybe the 3 layers of coffee filter help absorb some of the extra moisture, maybe not either, not sure...

A problem with these hydraulic jack types is heat transfer to the press.

The advised solution (via TWGF) is leather pads and collar. A bandaid that works for 60-90 minutes, I speed up the cool down time with a fan.

I messaged TWGF about an insulation I saw on a post of his.

For whatever reason, after agreeing to sell a few pads, he backs out. Annoying, more so that each reply from him takes ten days to reach me on his Pony Express.

Are we discouraged?

Yes!

And then we thinks (trim tables aren't just for mind numbing work and constipation!).

This hurts my brain, so I stop.

Later I email everyone who deals in H330 Thermalate. Most have very large minimum orders, so I try to be charming and offer to pay nuisance rates.

No reply! They saw through the disguise (there's no charm in me from top to bottom).

Later, one kind soul, future father of my children, offers to send them as samples if I send a shipping label.

You Americans aren't so bad it seems. Definitely not American'ts. I don't even know who called you that. Certainly not this guy.

Mikell, GF sent me a sample way too large, I could cut you off a piece if you want. I'm not allowed in Can'tada anymore though so you'll have to paddle your canoe and meet me out off San Juan island, on the border at 4:20, we can blaze too :)

Love to hear that story some day. LOL

I've been banned from a lot of places in my life. Even have a couple states who won't let me in, but I never had a country tell me not to come back. LOL I'm sure it's their loss. ;)

Ya it's true, me saying I got thermal h330 insulation isn't though, I have no idea why I target Mikell with lame jokes lol.. I live just on the other side of the islands between us in WA.

I didn't actually do anything in Canada and only been there like 2-3 times when I was young. I got a total BS under the limit DUI here, tried to fight the state and lost of course.

The trooper that pulled me over is responsible for "Haley's Law" (now cops must impound every vehicle) because he drove a drunk lady to her house, probably got a BJ and gave her a warning, handed back her keys and told her not to drive. She did drive, and hit another lady like an hour later and f'ed her up real bad.

The lady that got hit, haley french, sued the state and the county and was awarded a 5.5 million dollar settlement, the largest settlement of its kind in history. The same mother f'ing cop still has his job and apparently doesn't let anyone go even that blows a .05.. Hmm I wonder why?!!

The judge and prosecutor all had to try to save there asses once again and they spared no expense paying off people and even the jury i'm sure while in my trial.

The worst part is I don't even drink, and was driving my friend around for his bday. He had like 13 drinks and was wasted, I only had 2 drinks 2 hours before.. and the trooper tried to give him my keys without my permission when I was cuffed in the back off the police car! WTF!

When my buddy testified this in court for me, along with everything else I said that would help my case, the Jury had to leave the courtroom and was told it couldn't be used. Over 6 times the prosecutor objected and they had to leave the room. It was a 4 day long trial!

I should have just took the neg driving plea bargain at first but I know I got F'ed and i'm too stubborn and proud so I said hell no I want my trial. I didn't even know about the troopers negligence almost killing someone until i was already in court and did some research on him, my lawyers jaw dropped when i told her. It was like she knew to keep her mouth shut at that point because the county already paid over 2 million. It was a conspiracy and I would have lost no matter what.

Long story short I can't go to Canada because I have a DUI on my record, even though canadians can come here, BS!

I have heard that I can write a letterand ask Canada to let me back in, maybe I will someday.

Here's a link about the trooper that screwed me and haley french, and probably literally screwed the drunk lady that he drove home that night, and cost the state and county 5.5mil and me over 20,000 if interested: http://www.genemoses.net/content/ju...lion-suit-against-whatcom-county-state-patrol

Here is a link about Haley's law, how the state decided to make all there money back! They've used it to make waaaaay more than they lost, conspiracy! : http://www.seattlepi.com/local/soun...-effective-July-22-driver-and-car-1470268.php

Back on the topic of rosin, I too am looking for a way to prevent heat from going back into the hyd. press i've decided to build..

Like Mikell says its pointless to heat up a whole hydraulic press without insulation if, especially using it for extended amounts of time.. Its like trying to heat your house with a window open, and put's extra tax on your heater, taking way longer to reach optimum temp, if at all.

Here is what I am going to attempt If I decide to make one:

For the flat sided heat plate I want to take two 8th inch medical grade aluminum plates, and sandwich a few thin layered strips of woven fiberglass (no resin, from a roll I have left from working on my boat) in between them, so its flat as possible. From the looks of the plates online I might be able to screw the sandwich right to it?

For the the plate that mounts to the rod, ill cut a circle shape of the fiberglass (or make a little aluminum oreo shaped sandwich) and probably wont need screws or anything I believe, just stuff it in there and clamp it.

I already have like 6 different jacks (even a big bulky log splitter that I could cut down), plenty metal and aluminum scraps, and little roll of fiberglass laying around, or could go buy a small piece of matt and double or triple it up if that would work better.

I am looking into the hot plates now, not sure which set to buy yet. I would hate to waste alot of money on 2 PID controllers that cost like 15 a piece on amazon so rather DIY as much as I can.

Has anyone successfully used thicker fibreglass woven roving or thinner matt off a roll, maybe even just compressed fluffy insulation for homes between 2 plates to insulate the heat plates from the press?

If I have to have an air gap between my plate idea then it all seems a waste of time right?

Or should I just not worry too much about it, and get inconsistent presses.. I'm guessing that the temp would keep rising as you use it. Rather have the heat stay in the plates and the plant material than get robbed by the whole press. I dont wanna fire it up and have to wait to do one squish and then wait for it to cool back down.

While it would be nice to press flowers, should I just can the whole idea and use a couple hair straighteners and just squish bubble hash and keif? Seams like I could out perform a non insulated press all day long that way.

set your temps slightly lower than what you actually want to press at, the most ive seen temps climb when my low temp plates are set to 182 is 189 and and thats when im making full contact for a while.

All plates are not the same. The best way to find your sweet spot is to do a temp control offset and see what the control reads vs what the real temps are on the plates. I do all my at 210f. this was done today

Looks very nice! I do have a temp gun, that I can use to double check. I think i'll just opt for a run of the mill low temp heat plate kit for now seems it works good for everyone else.

I'm gonna use my old hand operated log splitter (im guessing 10 tons, will have to dig it out) that sits unused.

Pretty sure all I would have to do is fabricate and bolt on a mount about 6-8 inches from the ram on the jack, and mount the heat plates. Suppose I would need to add a pressure gauge?

I shall call it the bud splitter, that still can split firewood later, when I take the heat plate mount off... to be continued :)
