folded the chip in half for the third squeeze, seems to have helped! (presses 1 and 2 can be seen on each side)

this came up in discussion before and i recall that the conclusion was it wasn't possible due to oxygen inability to dissolve THC.

I read an article about someone using air to extract the oil and it was claimed as the future of dabs cus it supposedly makes a better product. It was cold temperatures with high pressure air, it was Jon brown valentine or he might go by elliot valentine also.

I have heard this before about trying to use liquid oxygen as a solvent, but you have to consider compressed air isn't the same as liquid oxygen, it also would contain liquid nitrogen as well as carbon dioxide.. and other types of gas as well..

Has anyone tried one of these for monitoring the temperature of your platens?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/From-USA-Di...502553?hash=item2a52c89159:g:aQUAAOSwMmBVgjB3

I use a similar device only it has a probe that is about 1/8" in diameter. With the device above, it's just a couple bare wires so you could press them right between your plates during heat up and get a pretty accurate reading of the temperature right at the point where the rosin is pressed.

I have been pressing out the kief i collected, the first two are the #1, the second two are my #2, and the last is some friends that looked and is really good, the slabs are 30g and 58g, working towards my stash for a year...

how much kief did you start with? I am thinking of doing a dry ice kief extraction of a pound of trim and then converting it to rosin, what do you think I may yield?

Just remember that the same designs are used and manufactured by many chinese companies but the internals and workmanship have different quality, they are not all equal. Do your Due Diligence. Don't just go on pictures alone or even model numbers as most Chinese manufactures use identical model numbers. :tiphat:

I wish there were some way I could monitor the sales of hair irons over the past year. LMAO

I can imagine a bunch of marketing execs all sitting around a large conference table congratulating themselves over (what they believe to be) a successful marketing strategy. LMAO

Has anyone tried spraying a very light spray of PAM olive oil spray on a bud before pressing it?

The rosin should mix well with the oil, especially at this temperature. And, although, it wouldn't be great for smoking or vaping, it might make a workable edible.

I am thinking that the oil will help thin down the rosin and make it flow in a viscosity that might be easier to collect.

I have to press some tonight. I'll give this a try and post back but I wanted to post it before I forgot it.

there really is no reason to press for edibles to be honest.. lol. solvents are gone after the 250 degree decarb.. so. in reality its just a waste of time...

what I'm wondering is...

is it better to press buds.. or.. make bubble hash or dry sift and press that...
but that extra step... is it worth it . yield wise. like u press a zip of buds.. right.. or u run a zip of bud into kief or bubblehash.. and then press that.. which is going to yield better from that same oz.

I don't think using a small amount of buds to make kief is going to give you much kief, on the other hand if you have a lot of trim with popcorn buds then it is defiantly worth condensing the raw material down to something more workable...

If you are good at pressing buds so you have high efficiency, you wont get much more by doing all the extra work, if any. That kief or bubblehash should be of very high quality if you want to get flavor as good as just pressing buds too.

so basically.. PRESS NUGS.. and press trim that has been processed into a form of hash . kief or whatever first
