NEW Colorado Growers Thread

Here is the Cacoon #4 that I ended up culling from this picture here.

Since I spray the plants often enough the leaves are protected and the grasshoppers munch the bark off the branches. This is the shit I've been dealing with.

Too bad they don't go after the live ones

Don't feel bad, i am still fighting hoppers ( Although MUCH less than July) and ants. Turns out the European Paper Wasp might be responsible for laying eggs that can turn into...I am still reading on that...Maybe time to kill them again. I did see one kill a lady bug...that is normally my sign to kick something out.

I'm lucky because grasshoppers aren't an issue right now, in fact I never see them all year usually. Last weekend though I saw two of them and put them in a lidded plastic ice cream pail to see if they would be killed with pyrethrum because they are listed on the label. They did die. 5% concentrate is available.

So my Azamax is doing something... Some days it feels like i am wasting my time, energy and money...

This is part of why i have been flaking out for the last month.

The 3 in the back are the PCK. The male is in my grow closet, but i turned off all power to it Sunday night, haven't watered since last week...Stupid thing is still alive???
All three of those plants were started at the same time (2 weeks before the taller one), given the exact same conditions, and yet one is only averaging 2 leaves every 4-5 weeks.
This PCK doesn't clone very well, if at all on most attempts. I only got 4 viable seeds last year after several pollination attempts.
I just think this genetically unstable and looks like it was inbred WAY too much. I used a very stable Grape Ape for the pollen last year, so why not call the experiment done and done??? It led me partly into this sad picture. I think i should walk away.

Has flowering not started for you yet?

Regarding the search for purple strains are you familiar with Krunkz? Krunkz Kreationz? I know he's on Instagram but I can't remember if he's on here. Anyways, he's doing 10 packs right now for $25 bucks a pack and just about all his strains are some kind of purple or other. Worth looking into. :2cents:

Keep your head up and hang in there Doc!

You can see one of the 2 CFLs i used to extend Veg. I do it every year but added 2 weeks this because they were so small.
This grow area got turned off 2 weeks before the other so there is more budding. This is why i was only finding males a couple of weeks ago. I was filling in with the couple of extras i had but keeping my count down left me short.
The one in the middle right side is the weird one. It REALLY got hit by hoppers...It was given to me along with the 2 in the back next to the cat nip. Just as i thought the hoppers had killed it, it decided to EXPLODE in growth (i have NEVER seen anything this fast before) from about 3' tall to about 8' in about 3 weeks. Is this how it git the name Green Crack...Because it goes crazy like crack-head? But it grew to fast to be strong enough to hold itself up. I had 2 other males try to do the same thing but as much as her.

I wish that i could have planted just one or 2 from the big GH to the small one...It is almost just the one lone Green Crack...And it was beaten up bad by hoppers.

If it deep freezes before Halloween i am SUNK. I have survived light snows and freezes, but this weather along the southern I-25 corridor seems to want to be Fall already...I counted on getting a lot of 90+ degrees days that we just aren't getting. Next up...Need advice on mold prevention. This weather has me spooked.

I guess if you are worried about a frost coming on you can always make shift put up some 6 mil plastic and throw a heater in there to get them through the cold nights?

Regarding mold I ran into some in my greenhouse that I light depped. I thought I would be fine with all the windows open but not the case. I'm adding an oscillating fan in there once budset starts in on this newest round and maybe even a dehumidifier once it gets cold enough at night that I need to shut all the windows. I want to avoid that problem again.

Any of you read the story about the 15-year-old Colorado boy who helped pass a law requiring schools to allow students to use medical marijuana, has died.

!RA!

I read that too. His name was Jack Splitt and the law he helped get passed is called Jack's Law. Brave, tough kid. Sad that he's gone.

Actually the way that i built this does hold in some air and yet allows a breeze. They have worked well in the past on a simple space heater. But the lack of plants in the small GH means there is less to hold in the heat. The bio-mass contained enough heat...i don't know how well it will do this year being that sparse???
I have been spraying Pro Tect silica and watering with it. I was wondering if spraying green cure a couple of times might prevent molds but am not sure???? Maybe mix the 2???

Found out the hard way...make sure you get super fine powdered boric acid...Thought i had a deal on ebay...WRONG. That is why i am seeing a few ants. The right stuff will be here Monday.

It is sad. I remember watching a lot about that law since he was in Springs. Brave fighters go too soon.

Green cure works by changing the surface pH of the leaves on the plant to make it more basic. It will work for a little while but then mold will come back if you can't correct your environment problems. If your shed is covered (I think it was right?) I wouldn't worry about it as much. Just put more of an emphasis on the correct amount of air moving around to prevent any mold from showing up. Treat the cause rather than the symptom.

If you don't have activnovate on hand then I would pick some of that up. I have both and will try it if I need to. I've only used it for root drenches but it cleared up my problems really quickly.

I am not seeing mold/PM yet. It could fly under my radar for awhile since i have so many leaves with white residue of DE.
I am just starting to tie back branches. As i do i manipulate them so they are not touching walls. I find that anything touching the Solexx Roof or Shade Cloth sides during a freeze will automatically start to mold about 7-10 days after.
