Whoah, name calling, easy there folks, Spicoli knows his stuff, all he's trying to do is state his experience, and I know he grows and has access to alot of growers, plants and flowers..He didn't say for a fact exactly what it is,but h believes it's a virus, with globalization and all these produce availabole from all over the world, it's no surprise to me that a virus from any given spot in the world could be contaminating MJ. Even today we have tons of quarantines and programs to eradicate pests and diseases that show up where they never were before. The Asian Citrus disease for example, just showed up recently and effects all kinds of citrus, but not necessarily other plants..I still am crossing my fingers that my garden isn't hit, but since I'm running like 4 or 5 OG varieties we shall see!

Much respect to jeff spicoli/ tom hill, Tom hit it right on the head, it very well could be a viral thing or infact the TMV either way. It kinda looks like ph stress and k but who knows.. If it doesnt affect the cured bud then I see nothing wrong with it being bred with, IF on the other hand it does seem spreadable what are the pro's con's about breeding with this? What does the future of chem d and tmv hold *creepy x files music*

First off, NO ONE said that anyone didn't know what they are talking about, but just because "someone who is not a hack" said something happened because he smoked in his room, I feel you'd be seeing A SHIT TON more of these "TMV symptoms".

Not saying it's a good thing, but I've smoked thousands of cigarettes around my plants and so have many others. So considering the thousands of opportunities for this to show up in any of the thousands of cuttings out there; IMO, his is anecdotal evidence at best.

I totally agree and that's how I felt. My main point was about someone who is incredibly knowledgeable regarding canna attributed his problem to TMV but very well could be wrong...just more info to chew on. I also agree that if TMV we 'should' be seeing similar issues popping up more frequently do to the amount of growers that also handle/use tobacco and on strains totally unassociated with the OG/Chem family and out of the clone trading loop.

Look at all of the pests/diseases/etc. that are spreading around the world due to increased distribution of goods carrying things and transportation stuff (like Zebra mussels from ship bilge water). Some of the non-native diseases and pests invading are dramatically affecting native species of plants and animals.

Were they in the same medium?

I'd like to see if this problem spreads from like hydro to soil or vice versa, it really seems like a deficiency rather than a virus..specially if it's proven that TMV doesn't really affect MJ...

hey moldy the OGs and ChemD were in coco on a flood table, and the grape romulan was in a 5g pot of FFOF on the floor off to the side of the table.... it JUMPED.

heres some more info here ya'll...

i found this from member CORE (thanks dude for the info sharing!).
i cannot figure out how to post the quote w pics so ya'll will have to follow the links (part b is the post right afyer part a btw)

this looks exactly like subrobs 'sick' chem d plant he had

If i remember correctly, on that particular plant it just got worse and worse, and eventually had more yellow than it did green with the discoloration.. But not so much the leaf curl/twise

not for nothing, but HDN sure likes to talk smack.
but mind you, this is the same dude who painted the burnt tips of his plant pics w/ photoshop.
he was also too lazy to at least use the right color green while painting.
sure sounds like the pot calling the kettle black imo.

Here's a DJ short f13 from seed and later as a clone:

In my case I think it is just a mutation or variegated leaf. It only shows up every now and again. I have run the plant 5 times.

Here's the daughter of the plant above (I selected for mutants):

My vote is for mutation/inbreeding, but I am just guessing like most of you.

not wanne stirr anything but i do wanne give my take on this matter...i've done a small bit of research on the net and i do believe it is a viral infection.notthing i can claim as scientific but along the years tru observation.
call it what you want but there is tons of info out there that TMV is know to infect for over 125 species of plants, so why not cannabis?
Nhow ..here's a piece i found a couple of years ago..i translated it....ohw and there some links to wikipedia and such.

read back a couple pages...specificly what tom hill wrote

I still have the same issue with plants from the same genetics and yes its a virus. I think its Tobacco Mosaic Virus. Some think it's some other virus. Doesn't really matter tho....still a virus. It's not terrible and doesnt seem to affect yield much. I just make a point to NOT select clones that show the leaf mutation on the mother. A mutated clone won't grow very well at all. Normal clones will grow normally with a few messed up leaves here and there.

this is what i have always seen/thought about selecting clones that dont show the trait

I am with tom on this.
Over the years i have worked in many different wholesale greenhouses. Several dealt with orchids. Almost every type of orchid we had was infected. And at several of the annual/perennial greenhouses we had some form of it. yet the TMV i know looks and acts alot differently than this so called TMV.
maybe the cut is getting tired. genetic information is wearing thin and new things like this pop up.

now go fix your ph issues and give um a boos of calmag.

^^ horseshit on a stick ^^

see I give my girls up to 10ml (if i want to give them a boost of N... otherwise 5ml is fine and dandy) of Cal/Mag every feeding in veg.... ph 6.0 that is always double checked between a hanna ph pen & GH ph drops
i dont have ph issues or nutrient lockout or deficiancy.

paco if it didn't spread to otherplants i would be inclined to say "the cut is getting old".

but it spreads... like a virus.
if it looks like a fish and swims like a fish....

this is what happens with nutrient and ph issues http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=125084

I dont kwow wtf this stuff is... TMV??? whatever. Yes it would be nice to know for sure and fix it if possible. Hopefully we will discover the real cause eventually but I dont think its caused by lazy growers... thats just funny but everyone is entitled to you know what and what they smell like...

anyway, here is something interesting Im seeing in my room.. This is a Kryptonite Chemd X SFV grown from seed. I did take one cut at the start of flower (at day 29 in pic) which appears clean so far. Interestingly enough, this plant was vegged alongside the Chem D cut which is apparently unaffected.. I recently was gifted the Chem D, and although Im in California, I got the cut from the southeast US... So, I dont know if the seed had the affliction or the seemingly clean copy of Chem D in veg did it...

Chem D X SFV
